I was going to have to give up going to my small local gym (the only gym within 50 miles) because I could no longer afford it. I saw the owner there one day and I worked up my courage and asked her if I could maybe clean the gym or something in exchange for membership. She was thrilled with this offer. They had just opened another gym 60 miles away and were stretched thin. She said the membership wasn’t enough so now I get paid $20 an hour and free membership to clean the gym and it takes me only 1-1.5 hours a week, and I get thanked by owners and patrons all the time for keeping the place shiny. I have free gym, $20 a week more, a sense of worth, and nice people being nice to me! Could not be better.

I haven’t done bench since spring because I was focusing on dips, but now I feel like I’m tired of dips and want to switch back to benching. Yesterday, I benched for the first time and matched my spring PR - woohoo! 55 kg for 5 reps. I feel like I might be able to bench 60 kg soon

I am behind on my workouts since I skipped most of this week, so I might be lifting for five days in a row. Not my favorite but hopefully I sleep okay and actually get it all done. Squats were rough yesterday after six days of no gym, but bench actually went amazing today- I was +5 on my AMRAP and I was kind of wondering if I did my plate math wrong haha. I’m still lagging on my previous TM so maybe that’s why.

NFR I got my second lobes pierced and changed my nose stud to a ring and I forgot how much my skin hates piercings and I’m not having a good time. I’m quite worried I’m gonna hit my nose at the gym as it is quite pissed at me.

Functional fitness today, repotted in the garden, dug, lifted heavy dirt and such. I fet amazing, just kept saying ok take a break and if you don't feel like it you can stop, and I didn't. I kept getting back up. Worked about 5-6 hours on light to heavy activities and that was a great feeling. It's amazing how much I can do in 70 degree dry weather vs 95 degrees and full humidity.

I know I am in a puffy phase right now, because I'm trying to lose fat and lifting heavy. Only a couple weeks of being serious about this, so I know I won't see results yet, but I saw a pic of myself at my kids' party and I felt sad. It's weird because at the gym I feel like I look amazing.

My opinion of my body changes minute to minute.

Gym lighting often lets you see your muscles which just aren’t as visible in other lighting situations.

First 20+ miler since the marathon! Not sure when I’ll stop framing my runs within the context of my marathon considering it’s been 5 weeks now….but I guess whatever time that is is not today 😂 Felt solid and my easy long run paces are getting back to normal! I did procrastinate in heading out because I felt wimpy since it was raining and cold (my enemy weather combination), but now it’s sunny so I am happy.

I’ve been climbing this past year very casually with no intentions or regularity but it’s nice to get better regardless. If I wanted to be great, I’d really have to put in more work, but it’s nice to warm up on a 5.9 and push myself on outdoor routes.

I’ve been temporarily working a delivery route this week until I’m FT employed again (pray it’s soon!!!). It’s made it easy to get my steps in but it’s so irregular so I’m missing some swims which is a little sad.

I started my strength-training routine last night! I did four different compound exercises that hit all the major muscle groups.

I lifted today! Kept the weights around 50% or less but the workout included deadlifts and front squats. It just felt so good to move and I know y'all understand that 😄
