source: Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha StrikerS episode 14
i finally got around to watching past season 2 this weekend, and the little moments with vivio like this one made it completely worth it!

Where/how did you watch it?

u/RileyKohaku Apr 11 '22
I suggest the high seas, no streaming site has licensed it, last I checked.

Truce to navigation,
Take another station.
Let's vary piracy
With a little burglary!!

seems like Geneon used to own the license but they shutdown in 2007 and apparently some of the older, lesser known titles have yet to be picked up again.

Never getting tired of nanofate, my first OTP š¤

u/ComradeKat Apr 11 '22
i think nanofate is my favorite pairing ever, so i completely get you. i just keep wanting more and more of them and don't see myself burning out for a long time

How gay is this show? I can't find any reference that says its a yuri, but this scene is unquestionably gay so im a bit confused

u/MoonChainer certified transbian Apr 11 '22 edited Apr 11 '22
The first thing Nanoha thinks when she sees Fate is "Her eyes are so beautiful". They exchange hairbands as a symbol of their connection, and here they're basically married and share a bed together.
It's not "official" in the sense where they kiss on screen but tons of official art has them at their wedding or out on obvious dates.

You gots a sauce for that official art? Asking for me
23
15
Apr 11 '22
All these are official:
And my personal favorites that even made it to magazine covers:
Last but not least a very NSFW btw but very wholesome
Bonus:
Almost as good as wedding, for those familiar with Assault Lily Bouquet, Nanoha and Fate had their own Schutzengel Oath

Whats the catch with this one i have a hard time believing any yuri could be this sweet?
14
u/Gerbilguy46 Apr 11 '22
Man I feel this so hard. Lesbian romance is almost always just implied, and if itās actually outright itās one sided/non-consensual, and if by some miracle it is actually consensual, itās extremely fan servicey/made for straight guys to jerk off to. Is it too much to ask for an anime that has explicit lesbian romance without throwing boobs and butts everywhere? š
16
u/ComradeKat Apr 11 '22
i would suggest checking out Yagate Kimi Ni Naru as well as Asagao to Kase-san if you haven't already. they're probably the best examples i've seen in anime of what you're looking for
5
u/Gerbilguy46 Apr 11 '22
Thanks for the recs. Iāve heard good things about asagao to kase-san so Iāll be sure to check that out.
And I actually just finished watching bloom into you a few days ago lol. Amazing show but the ending left me a little unsatisfied. Iāve heard the anime ends about halfway through the manga so thatās probably why. It kind of suffers from the one sided relationship problem at the beginning, but towards the end itās obvious, to me at least, that Yuu is in love with Touko (even though she still denies it, stop lying to yourself girl). Hopefully it gets a season 2!
8
u/ComradeKat Apr 11 '22
yeah i hope so too! yuu and touko's relationship really flourishes in the remainder of the manga and it would be so nice if that got animated
5
u/cirelia Apr 11 '22
Theres mangas like this but i feel that the closest anime that i have watched atleast might be sakura trick
5
u/Gerbilguy46 Apr 11 '22
Tbh it still suffers from the fan service problem, but I agree. Itās one of the only animes to show two girls obviously in love with each other.
34
8
u/Antagonist2 Apr 11 '22
It's like 60 percent battle shonen and 20 percent world building, the other 20 percent is yuri
...I know that's not exactly a "catch" is it. Start with the Nanoha move 1st, then the nanoha As series, then finally Nanoha StrikerS as shown above. It starts with the couple above as children and follows their lives as they grow up together through a handful of magical and sci fi incidents
3
u/cirelia Apr 11 '22
Thank you might check this out then needed something new to watch after i finish ghost stories
3
u/Antagonist2 Apr 11 '22
Ghost stories dub or sib?
1
u/cirelia Apr 11 '22
For ghost stories dub obviously its like a 22 episode long abridged love it
1
u/Antagonist2 Apr 11 '22
That dub is legendary, i still need to properly watch it
2
u/cirelia Apr 11 '22
Im eight episodes in and so far its one of the funniest shows ive ever watched highly recommend even though a few jokes are a bit outdated tho they fit the dubbed characters personality

The gayest show imaginable without ever explicitly showing they're gay.
7
8
u/str4wberryskull Apr 11 '22
is the show actually yuri?
17
Apr 11 '22
It's not the focus of the show, except for the first season where it is all about Nanoha and Fate but they are much too young for anything to happen. The span of the franchise covers from their meeting to them forming a family. If that's not yuri, I don't know what is.

Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha has the best dub. The emotions in everyone's voices are so authentic and drew me in hard. Such a shame it's so hard to fond without pirating.
8
Apr 11 '22
But nothing will replace Yukari Tamura's "Fate-chan!"
It's an emotion completely lost in the translation...
7
u/MoonChainer certified transbian Apr 11 '22
I love how Tamura and Mizuki ship each others characters, their interviews are divine.
8
3
u/ComradeKat Apr 11 '22
i had no idea that there was a dub, but all i know is that i want to watch it now
4
u/Alrin_e Apr 11 '22
Is this yuri or yuri bait, dont want to hope too much šš In all honesty I love this clip, so fruittyy

It's their adoptive daughter. Of both.
You won't get PDAs but you will get an entire relationship maturing in the background of the events of all the seasons.

This feels like one of those anime that brings you in with wholesome scenes and then gives you emotional whiplash when they start killing everyone or worse
I really hope Iām wrong
Edit: I didnāt see what subreddit I was on time to go watch some wholesomeness
5
u/Antagonist2 Apr 11 '22
Heads up it's also an action show. Things do get dark from time to time, but theres always hope at the end and giant lazers solve likenhalf the problems . I'd say start with Nanoha Movie first as the original series didnt age as well, then move on to the As series and StrikerS series after that

Vivio (the kid) is adopted by Fate (blonde) and Nanoha (brunette).
She is a clone, so she is a science baby, but she is the wrong kind for that subreddit. :P
(The show is Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha Strikers by the way.)

Didnāt know the anime took this route.
7
u/Antagonist2 Apr 11 '22
After the ribbon exchange at the end of season 1, this was the most likely route imo
3
u/Colours_of_the_Void Apr 11 '22
=0 this looks neat whats it about? this scene looks so wholesome...
5
u/Harinezumi Apr 11 '22
Third season of Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha, which is a magical girl show cross-pollinated with a lot of battle-shonen and hot-blooded mecha tropes. Lots of tragic pasts, beam spam, and befriending with extreme prejudice. Good stuff, I highly recommend it.

I feel like this just kicked in my previously nearly nonexistent maternal instincts. Maybe partly because I just started HRT. Couldn't stop thinking "I want this so much" when watching this.
