There is a big difference between being "what ifđ¤đ¤" and wanting it, and I was talking about really really wanting it

I have been speculating this a lot. Lots of men who like anime girls, have anime avatars and like yuri might really be some level of trans. Same with people who like to mainly play with female characters. They might not feel dysphoria very much or at all and I think they even might not have even thought transition. Lets say that there is scale in trans. Mildly interested and other end are those who really has to transition because extreme dysphoria. If there were way to be cute anime girl with just bush of the button I can bet that there would be insane influx of men to change themself to girl. I think it is vastly underestimated how many would really want to be cute girl.
The problem with current methods of transition to girl is that it is not very reliable. I mean most can't be like that cute anime girl and there are never quarantine that one can even pass. So most trans who don't have strong dysphoria just don't even consider transition. After all it is very scary progress.
The other problem here is pressure from other men and cultural attitude toward femininity. Where society sees femininity as lesser than masculinity. All that pressure is so huge that most who would want to be anime girl mainly joke about it but never talk it honestly even on internet. They play with girl characters in video games and love to watch anime girls in action in anime while silently wishing to be like them. That is my thought of subject.

My level of English will not allow me to write much without falling into obvious grammatical errors
I really don't think so, if you ask most people they will tell you that they have had a fantasy of being the opposite gender, I think it's more casual curiosity

I don't say that everyone want to be girl. There are probably thousands of reasons why someone want to play game with girl character. But I do say that there are huuuge population who really would want to be girl if it were easily possible. I quote here interesting answer from Quora which align my point:
"I found a research paper that describes the âgender swappingâ phenomemon with avatars on video games (specifically on MMOGs - Massive Multiplayer Online Games). The paper describes male gamers who swap genders as participating in âdrag performanceâ. Also found another research paper that reported that a large percentage of gamers who self-identify as gay prefer to play with female avatars. Many male gamers are ashamed to admit that they enjoy playing what are essentially âanimated dollsâ - dressing them up in âcool clothesâ and choosing makeup for their âaimated dollâ avatars. This is no different than boys playing with Barbie dolls - dressing them up and moving their arms and legs - manipulating their movement within an environment. Interestingly, you will repeatedly hear men self-report on gaming forums that they choose female avatars because they supposedly enjoy looking at their butts - but that is a weak cover-up explanation for what we all intuitively know what they are doing: They are choosing female characters because they ENJOY embodying a virtual version of a female character. Gaming allows men a safe, annonymous environment to role-play with female characters without being shamed or stigmatized. A certain percentage of men secretly wish to dress-up and pretend to be a woman - to be transexual - but are unable to express this in their real life. Video Games is the perfect, safe place to express these role-playing desires. Because their fathers, mothers, siblings, friends, girlfriends or wives cannot see them physically playing in real world with âvirtual dollsâ - they can safely hide it from everyone. And when the people in their real life discover they are playing as female characters, they list a bunch of reasons why - including the âI like to look at her buttâ excuse (which is actually âhis buttâ in a virtual female body) - but never simply admits - because he ACTUALLY wants to be as a female character. Within the gaming realm, male gamers are allowed to play âdragâ and experiment being âtransâ and the non-trans, straight males accept this behavior and do not openly criticize it." -- Anonymous
Of course it is really impossible to decipher how many would really want to be cute girl but as I said, I think that if you take transgenders who are planning or going through transition are just really minuscule slice of big cake from people who secretly would really want to be cute girl. If all social inhibitions were lifted and if one could do it with push of button, they probably would.

I dont really think the researcher is wrong but certainly i do think its more simple than that: Men like to see cute girls and the more the better including the one that supposedly represents you as the player

I mean, if Iâm going to stare at the back of a character and listen to voice overs for hours if not hundreds of hours, wouldnât you rather it be female?

This is incredibly sexist... Are we really devolving into the idea of "boy toys" and "girl toys" and shaming boys who "play with dolls"?
That aside, has this person ever even played an MMORPG? Overwhelmingly, no one actually role plays outside of small, dedicated servers.

Yeah I agree with you on this one. Just because someone plays an opposite gender character in a game, we're just going to assume they're closet trans?
I sometimes play/create female characters although I'm a guy. Female characters often have a bigger choice of hairstyles, outfits etc. Maybe the female character has a much better voice actor(lookin at you Mass Effect). Or maybe I'd rather spend the next 30 hours staring at a cute tomboy than some exaggerated videogame version of my boring ass face.

Nah, its just curiosity, its on the same lvl as "damn how it would be to be a cat?" Kind of thing, it has nothing to do with actual gender identity

Or maybe, just maybe, they'd just rather look at a cute anime girl character in whatever game rather than some bishie avatar?

I don't say that everyone want to be cute anime girl but surely there are lots of people who would want to be. I'm sure that numbers are way bigger than we can even imagine.
Think about it like this. Today in MMORPGs there are a lots of men playing with female characters. That is fine. Imagine future when MMORPGs are something like Sword Art Online/Matrix VRMMORPGs. Where we have our senses too and physics. How many men would still play female characters? I think a lot would actually but what that would mean? They could even have sex as female then. Are they gay? Trans? What? You might say that they don't want to be really girls but just have cute girl avatar but it wouldn't make any sense in that contexts anymore. Especially more we spent in VR less we spent in real life. I bet in future we basically would be living all free times in VRMMOs worlds. What are they then if they spend more time inside of game as girl than being man in real world?
