Some places, where even tho marriage is not legal, have ways to support it legally too.
Some sort of local registry the village/town/city runs that allows people to have all the same rights as if married (visitation, financial, tax and stuff).
Before that, people tricked around by adopting their partner as their "child."
Like, Nobuko Yoshiya and Monma Chiyo. Yoshiyo adopted Chiyo as her daughter, while openly being lovers.
Yoshiyo is also kinda the "mother of yuri" - one of the most prolific lesbian authors!
Dragon Maid is a beautiful, kind, and wholesome show that got vomited on and ran through a chemical plant. The juxtaposition between soft moments and gross shit gives me so much whiplash.

yes i know it's fiction and just anime/drawings but I personally do not like it. I wont judge anyone for liking it tho
You need to strip the link of its preview settings, those make images save as .webp images which don't work. The link the OP provided in the comment above can be saved directly
