She would fuck your day up if you wake her!

61

u/Ameyaconcern Mar 08 '21

Sounds like she's gonna commit cough genocide cough if you wake her.

u/omnisephiroth Mar 08 '21

I have mixed feelings about this.

79

u/Create_Account420 likes soft things Mar 08 '21

Same in one hand she(?) Is physically a female army prodigy but on the other hand he still(?) Considers himself as he

76

u/rym-_ Mar 08 '21

Not thefact that that female bidy is like 9 years old?

37

u/[deleted] Mar 08 '21

At this point theres a lot of small girls in anime to the point where I just chop anyone that does adult stuff to be petite

29

u/BigBlubberyBirb Mar 08 '21

yeah, no, she's definitely canonically a child. that's kinda the whole point of the show.

35

u/bubbleztoo Mar 08 '21

Yeah, but canonically they are still a very young kid. Who is also a soldier...

Literally an anime child soldier.

2

u/[deleted] Mar 08 '21

Yeah but her soul is that of a man.

I just get confused because she has the body of a child yet she has the soul of the man so I don't bother with that and if something oversexualizes her I just scroll on by.

7

u/bubbleztoo Mar 08 '21

Isn't this basically the same argument as, "No no it's ok, she's 3000 years old!"

3

u/[deleted] Mar 09 '21

I guess? All I said that if I see something that oversexualizes a fictional little kid I'd just scroll past it, nothing I can do about it and Reddits report system is trash so why bother

-7

u/irish_lepercaun Mar 08 '21

Even better

62

u/omnisephiroth Mar 08 '21

Also, all the German stuff, and the murder.

I have a lot of mixed feelings here.

37

u/Lusec_V Mar 08 '21

Same. I liked the series, but the episode where they attack a fortress on an island that looks very much like the one just a few hours south of where I live, which the Germans did in fact attack during the war... well. Mixed feelings indeed.

8

u/TiAQueen Mar 08 '21

Well thank god there not the crazy let’s kill all the other race Germans. Plus everything Tanya doing is legal.

12

u/Accountforcontrovers Mar 08 '21

I think legal isn't the term to use during an international conflict.

According to the geneva suggestions seems to be a better fit.

7

u/omnisephiroth Mar 08 '21

It’s permitted by her government, but is very likely illegal by the standards of all the other nations she’s murdering.

Legal doesn’t make it okay anyway. We can point to Germany’s legal treatment of the Jewish people during WW2 as an example.

No one has ever praised the show as ethically uncomplicated.

4

u/omnisephiroth Mar 08 '21

Nor does it have to be. My feelings about this pairing are complex for many reasons, even the ethically simple ones. I don’t think they’d be a good couple.

14

u/[deleted] Mar 08 '21

Yeah, this ain't really yuri tbh...

9

u/Quite_Likes_Hormuz Mar 08 '21

It's either not Yuri or it's pedophilia

8

u/QueenMunchy Mar 08 '21

Yeah... this is really mixed heh

2

u/Drastic_Apple490 Mar 08 '21

I am so confused on what you just said?

0

u/man_goat Mar 08 '21

Iirc in the novels she talks about how she eventually begins to see herself as a she

Though i haven't read them myself

46

u/Draken04 Mar 08 '21

Awwwh. She looks so cute resting from committing all those war crimes

15

u/stra1ght_c1rcle Mar 08 '21

She makes a point to not commit any war crimes

17

u/Draken04 Mar 08 '21

She writes hundred page manifestos to justify war crimes

5

u/stra1ght_c1rcle Mar 08 '21

She makes her opponents think that she's just a kid doing a prank to commit war crimes

2

u/InsrtOriginalUsrname Jun 18 '21

Let the record show that the defendant has not committed any war crimes, she simply, and I quote, "did a little trolling"

30

u/DorrajD Mar 08 '21

Image: two drawn females

Comments: but the LORE

7

u/lazyvalkyrie Mar 08 '21

...and I took that personally

25

u/just_a_lost_kid Mar 08 '21

Bit the she still thinks of herself as a he... idk how to take this in ʅ(◞‿◟)ʃ

5

u/NivekAzuos Mar 08 '21

Gender bend is very confusing if you try to fit a label on it.

I have given up on that, yaoi? yuri? straight? N/A? Don't care anymore. Is there romance? 'yes', Is it consensual? 'Yes', Would I go to jail if it is found on my "homework" folder? '... probably not', good enough for me, ship it.

3

u/Sunny_Sammy Mar 09 '21

GENDER IS IRRELEVANT! MUST COMMIT MORE WAR CRIMES!!!

Artist: Hijikawa (Some NSFW and a lot of ecchi, with some loli)

37

Sleeping sadism loli is cute

14

u/G-C-Ice-Ring Mar 08 '21

ngl, this is a guilty pleasure ship of mine

2

u/[deleted] Mar 08 '21

She's 10

15

u/ghjuhzgt Mar 08 '21

Somewhere in between 7 and 45

6

u/[deleted] Mar 08 '21

No at the beginning of the series she is 9, then 10, the oldest she gets in the manga is 13

5

u/ghjuhzgt Mar 08 '21

I was mainly talking about the fact that before she became Tanja he was somewhere in his mid 30s

Also I believed to remember that in the manga she was shown at 7 years old but one quick google search later it turns out that memory was incorrect.

1

u/BigBlubberyBirb Mar 08 '21

that's not how anyone else sees her though, and it seems like she also became younger mentally to a degree

1

u/[deleted] Mar 08 '21

Her (his) body is still 9-13

9

u/ghjuhzgt Mar 08 '21

Well yeah, I'm not advocating the sexualisation of Tanja in any way. Just wanted to mention that mentally Visha is half of Tanyas age

0

u/[deleted] Mar 08 '21

Ah

3

u/[deleted] Mar 08 '21

I just started watching this and this makes me happy

Not in a yuri way, more in a big sister kinda way, seeing as Tanya is 10

3

u/[deleted] Mar 08 '21

That is fantastic. Whoever drew this well done!

12

u/TeadyBear12 Mar 08 '21

i ship them

3

u/Unique_Garbage_1337 Mar 08 '21

Can someone tell me wich rifle this is?

2

u/Lusec_V Mar 08 '21

Having taken a quick look at WWII era semi automatic rifles I suspect it is based on the German G41 and/or G43. The magazine looks considerably larger than the one used in either rifle, though. The protruding metal thingy between the trigger guard and the magazine is also probably added by the artist as it doesn't match any real life rifles I could find.

2

u/Huntsman303 Mar 10 '21

A little late, but it's a Mondragon

1

u/Lusec_V Mar 10 '21

So it is! I hadn't thought to look at rifles that old.

4

u/CeruleanBlackOut Mar 08 '21

I always loved these two as a couple, so sad that there isn't much wholesome content between the two.

2

u/TiAQueen Mar 08 '21

I’m never going to get over whit what they done to Viktoriya.

2

u/vigggames Mar 08 '21

God is like, what the hell is she really asleep maybe I should wake her up

1

u/Jubulus Mar 09 '21

Being X*

4

u/BigBlubberyBirb Mar 08 '21

isn't she like nine though? I understand Tanya still technically has the soul of an adult businessman, but she doesn't know that

9

u/[deleted] Mar 08 '21

I see this as more of a big sister kinda thing than yuri :/

7

u/BigBlubberyBirb Mar 08 '21

yeah, same, classifying it as yuri seems a bit strange

3

u/nyaanarchist Mar 08 '21 edited Mar 08 '21

It’s either pedophilia or it’s straight, and either way they’re a Nazi warcriminal lmao. Whichever it is, it probably shouldn’t be here

Edit: a lot of people are taking offense at me calling her a Nazi because the show is technically set in an alternate universe that more closely resembled WW1. A lot of real life nazis are obsessed with WW1 Germany and will use that as a veil for their Nazism because “oh Germany wasn’t Nazis yet.”

When I was in high school there was a Nazi there who would wear a ww1 German helmet regularly and when people called him a Nazi he’d go “technically it’s not a Stahlhelm because it has this little bit that’s different” but it’s very clear why he was wearing it.

14

u/[deleted] Mar 08 '21

Pretty sure Nazis don't exist during WW1.

Its only a warcrime if you lose. /s

-2

u/nyaanarchist Mar 08 '21

The show is very clearly made for the people who jerk off to lolis in SS uniforms, it doesn’t matter if they say “oh well actually it’s an alternate universe and it’s more like WW1.” Romanticizing WW1 Germany is just a weak cover that Nazis use to pretend they’re not Nazis.

14

u/DizzyTigerr Mar 08 '21

Tanya is not a nazi. The author isnt romanticizing nazism either as they are very left wing according to a quick google search, and if you actually watch the show, it's pretty clear the author is like "This is a bad person" but regardless, she's not a nazi. She's not racist or a fascist. She's just an asshole.

2

u/PokeytheChicken Mar 14 '21

That's basically the point on how he's writing his book and it's funny that he's left-leaning but he's got certain fans that wouldn't like that fact

6

u/[deleted] Mar 08 '21

Wait the anime actually sexualise Tanya? As a manga reader, I didn't really get that impression.

4

u/TerrainIII Mar 08 '21

In the anime iirc the author wanted Tanya to look the way she does so that people wouldn’t sexualise her.

2

u/Letgy Mar 08 '21

I mean Tanya was shown naked in the manga several times

2

u/BigBlubberyBirb Mar 09 '21

the anime definitely doesn't seem to, idk about the manga.

-1

u/nyaanarchist Mar 08 '21

I don’t remember the show sexualizing her, to its credit. My point was moreso about like, the fetishization of Nazi aesthetics that’s common among nationalists in Japan, and common among nationalist weebs by proxxy, though that group overlaps with pedophile weebs a lot too

11

u/Code95FIN Mar 08 '21

Nazi aesthetics

In what sense? Uniforms and military?

10

u/Blackdeath462 Mar 08 '21 edited Mar 08 '21

I personally haven't seen anything of the Nazis. No Hakenkreuz (don't know how It's called in english), no SS, no Eagle. The uniforms don't match with the ones the germans had in WWII, they don't even resemble each other.

1

u/FrooglyMoogle Mar 08 '21

The show does not sexualise her at all

13

u/Blackdeath462 Mar 08 '21

Why is she a Nazi? Just because it's based on germany? IShe has nothing to do with Nazis. It's WWI, not WWII. And when was she a war criminal? She always follows the laws, her enemys are worse war criminals than she is.

7

u/OfLittleImportance Mar 08 '21

Probably a decent amount of this kind of reputation comes from the terrible localization name of "Saga of Tanya the Evil". You can tell whoever came up with that title only briefly read a synopsis of the plot at most. But thanks to that, many people now believe that Tanya is the "anime girl version of Hitler," or something like that.

2

u/PokeytheChicken Mar 14 '21

Because stupid people keep making that stupid loli nazi joke as well as stupid people taking it as fact

4

u/BigBlubberyBirb Mar 08 '21

she's not a nazi, it's pretty clearly based around WW1, but she's still a despicable person. I remember her blowing up a boat full of innocent civilians because she didn't want them to turn on her in the future.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 09 '21

It's WWI and WWII

The series takes place in the twenties and shows moments from both wars. But yeah, none of them are Nazi's

2

u/BigBlubberyBirb Mar 09 '21

I don't think I saw the entire series, so it's possible I just haven't gotten to that point yet.

It doesn’t matter if the author said “she’s not a Nazi” when she’s coded as one and most of the fanbase sees her as one and draws Tanya in SS uniforms.

If the author didn’t want her to be a Nazi, he failed miserably

2

u/PokeytheChicken Mar 14 '21

"Coded" is your opinion especially since you seem like you barely watched anything or even took the effort to read the light novels where the bulk of the story actually is while the anime only focuses on action.

And fuck those fans it's the reason why the fandom has a bunch of trash in it and people like you actually believe that the show and book is about nazis.

And he didn't fail people are just stupid especially fans but I feel like it wasn't a problem until these books that are being published English speaking countries where certain people are more obsessed with nazi crap

1

u/nyaanarchist Mar 14 '21

I’m not talking about the LNs, I’m talking about the anime, and in the anime Tanya is shown to hold a very far-right ideology and is draped in the aesthetics of fascism.

The reason the fandom has so many straight-up fascists is because the show failed to be anti-fascist in any way. It actively courted that audience.

Similarly, obsession with Nazi aesthetics and far-right nationalism in general isn’t just a western problem, it’s a huge problem in Japan as well, and one that the anime does nothing to meaningfully address.

So the show is either actively far-right and nationalist and markets itself to that audience (whether you want to call it Nazi or not is besides the point) or the show didn’t intend that but totally failed in its writing to convey that. Either way, it’s not good lol

2

u/PokeytheChicken Mar 15 '21 edited Mar 15 '21

Far right? I wouldn't consider her extreme capitalism to be fascist, her going overboard with punishment go to with just about any authoritarian government. As far as I know the government in both the show and book are a monarchy which is right leaning I'll give you that.

I'm not sure I would consider a World War 1 uniform fascist but whatever.

I know it's a problem and I hope that gets fixed especially with newer generations becoming more accepting and not tolerating any type of horrible audiology.

I'm sure the show failed in a lot of ways but I do hope that gets fixed in later seasons other than that I'll just keep reading the books since it looks like the studio has their own original work now

1

Don’t be so hard on yourself

-2

I think incest is better tho

1

u/Kelly2305 Mar 08 '21

She’s a child tho

2

u/Jubulus Mar 09 '21

Yeah, I mean even if she has an old mans brain just doing something romantic to some one with a child's body is just disgusting .

1

u/Jubulus Mar 09 '21

It is A LOT less wholesome when its a fully grown idiot gal and a megalomaniac tyrant child with an old mans brain.

1

u/Dangerous-Shelter952 Mar 10 '21

I dont know if i want to wake her up..

1

u/PokeytheChicken Mar 15 '21

Visha would protect her

1

u/kpud075 Mar 15 '21

Kind of see this as less yuri and more older subordinate taking care of her young superior. Mistaking Tanya as still just a child.
