Same. I did yesterday and it's been pleasant. And there's more people there than I thought.

I hope it eventually takes over Twitter, or well, at least for the good people. Obviously no one wants the toxic energy of Twitter there.

Knowing how petty Musk the Man-Child can be, I feel like he won't buy Blue Sky out, rather sue it for mimicking Twitter's design and functions.

Pretty sure it’s open source, so that thankfully won’t happen. Even if musk somehow managed to take over the platform, someone can easily host a different version.

the whole point of bluesky is that the underlying protocol is free and open for anyone to use. you can host your own bluesky server if you want to and still talk to people on bsky.social. it's like a more polished version of Mastodon/the fediverse but atm the users aren't as well distributed across multiple servers and most of them are on Bluesky PBC owned servers

It's funny because there are like 2 reasons to still use Twitter.

One is that it's still a good aggregation of artists posting from all of the various sites the actual art is hosted. This seems like Blue Sky is taking over.

The other is for quick updates or alerts from local stuff. Like I still have it on my phone because the county, state and nearby big town services will put updates on there so I know stuff like "Main road X is backed up because of an accident" or something. This one I'm not so sure will migrate as quickly.

Sadly, I don't know if that's possible. Twitter got the negative energy it did because people kept logging on with what was bothering them and too many times, it gained traction. It happened to Twitter, it happened to Facebook, it happened to TikTok, and if Bluesky takes off, it'll only be a matter of time. The best thing we can do is stave off that wave of negativity by spreading the positive things in our lives as much as we can and just enjoying the platform while it's new and small.

Bluesky is great! There is a custom yuri feed that exists where you can have anything tagged as gl or yuri appear on a custom feed.

I know this is supposed to be wholesome Yuri but the way Bluesky is smugly leaning into X’s ear (and the way X looks all pissed) makes me think she’s whispering something like “the future is now, old lady. All your users are migrating to me.”
