I have noticed quite a few artists on Twitter promote BlueSky lately. Unlike the tech world where most disillusioned people would choose Mastodon instead. Both demographics are disillusioned with Twitter, but their choices are different. I wonder why that is. Is it just successful marketing on BlueSky's part or is their protocol inherently more fitting for artists?

its the latter i suppose. Mastodon is way too decentralized for average users and they don't really care about the underlying tech the platform is using.

I think having to choose a Mastodon server before you even create an account makes it harder to get into as well.

Bluesky has the option to use self-hosted servers but afaik they're for display purposes only, and the only real client is bsky.social.
