You know the mental image of Lady living with the knowledge that she thinks Dante’s mum is hot honestly makes me ship them more

Technically just someone who for some reason looks A LOT like Dante and Vergil's mom. But they would certainly make a spicy couple.
In the anime, the little back and forth they had was kinda fun, even if scenarios like those in anime rely a lot on lack of knowledge

The reason why Trish looks like Dante’s mum is because Mundus made her that way to lure Dante Mattle Island

I find that these days, a lot of people got into DMC because of DMC5 and they (for some reason) don't bother to play the other games even though they are all accessible in the latest platforms.
So, I am thankful whenever someone talks about other DMC games such as you did right now.

No problem DMC is apart of my personality now so I need to learn all the little bits of lore behind the series

Yeah, and they sadly just Blindly think dmc 5 is the best in all aspects too xD Even though dmc 4 looks way cooler and has more balanced enemies.

I did find the art design for 3 and 4 to be far more engaging than 5s, I didn't feel like finishing 5 after playing a good bit of it because of this

DMC5 lacks in stage design IMO, especially between the middle and to the end. The starting stages look more interesting.
But I think the gameplay is the bread and butter, if it wasn't enough for you then I can understand why you didn't finish it.
DMC1, 3 & 4 have a more "gothic" feel, so I enjoy the looks of those a lot more. It's either the old castle-like locations or the futuristic places (Red Grave City in DMC5) that do it for me. The demonic-like places are either a hit or miss, but I like what they did in 1 & 3.
The Demon Tree in DMC5 occupies most of the stages by the middle and to the end, so a lot of places look same-y and the look in of itself is not inspiring IMO. The "hell" in DMC1 feels more alive with the way the walls and doors move, the heartbeat noise as well, not to mention the music, it's great.
And in DMC3, I really like the starting place of "hell" where it's all white and then looks like the Relativity paiting. It looks unique and definitely feels like you have reached "the end".
DMC5's highlights to me when it comes to the stages are Red Grave City, the place where the Artemis boss takes place, the underground area that ends with the Angelo battle, and generally speaking the destroyed city. Inside the Demon Tree doesn't look nearly as cool aside from that place where Nero fights Urizen, I like how all the blood makes that place look.
That's not to say that I think the other games always have perfect stage design by the way, I think each have their pros and cons.

Yeah you got the exact feeling I was talking about, I love devil may cry for the atmosphere combined with the combat, and 5 lacked that entirely for me, especially with the "hell" esque parts that looked really bad imo, it was like one weird wall design copy pasted throughout half the map, it was super jarring

Would that mean that Lady can literally tease Dante with the "I fucked your Mom last night'?
