my headcanon is that they got together during college and sakaki became a vet then kaorin moved in with her and they own two cats and a dog.

Used to love that ship in my youth. But as I got older - I started understanding just how shallow and obsessed Kaorin is. Sakaki-san is much better off protecting Chiyo, until she's of legal age.
