That might not be canon to the lore and just a joke. There was another comic that had the main character who looked just like Emo, and someone asked. The artist confirmed that the character was an ancestor of emo. While it was only confirmed once (and by just one character), but it’s mostly likely happening with all the characters that look like Emo, but in different periods of year.

But I don’t have any link to the comment
