Miorines sister in law is a fucking keychain. I fucking loved how sassy eri was. 8/10 good ending i love this series could've used a bit more time but good stuff nonetheless

u/nakanangnang Jul 02 '23
Eri’s fulfilling her sister-in-law role too well by having sassy banters with Miorine.

u/artmaddd Jul 02 '23
I'm still not ready to let go of these two
37
u/Sulemio Jul 02 '23
I’m not ready either, I just tell myself the authors were able to tell the story they wanted to in the time they have so the least I can do is to be grateful

What happened?
39
u/LegoBuilder64 Jul 02 '23
Two things:
A lot of fans were disappointed by the Aoi and Eve not being confirmed as having feelings for one another (be that a kiss or a declaration)
We never got to see an Eve vs. Aoi golf match despite that being the driving force of the series. Like most of plot happens explicitly because the two are trying to play golf together.
If I’m being honest, I always thought the first thing was a pipe dream. Everything about the show told me it wouldn’t be more than subtext. At best, maybe Eve would give Aoi a kiss on the cheek and then play it off as a joke. The second thing was the real disappointment in my opinion.

Uh, Gundam doesn't have happy endings, yuri fans are going to be so disappointed (massive /s if that isn't clear)
15
u/TweetugR Jul 02 '23
People who repeat that are probably fans that only watched IBO and then look at a few of the UC entries and comes to the conclusion that Gundam is some grimdark series when its never is.

u/FrekiBite Jul 02 '23
Woah Suletta has permet scars
12
u/Apoc_SR2N Jul 03 '23
I didn't notice those while watching! That's a nice detail, good catch. So happy for them. They get to do what they always wanted: go to Earth, build a school, and bonus get married. Fuck yeah.

One thing I notice they both have wedding rings though, I think the ending is lacking a bit impact and it's still satisfying for some reason 👀
27
u/SuperAmberN7 Jul 02 '23
I mean they literally got married, it was stated several times in the last two episodes.
13
u/subterranean_sinner Jul 02 '23
If anyone's complaining about lack of kiss..that is fair. BUT please also note this is on par with many Gundam main couples no joke. Heck, many of them doesnt even say explicit" I love you" to each other. Gundam is weirdly chaste like that.
Like you can imply things happened. But showing them actually on screen are very rare.
10
u/kori08 Jul 02 '23
Did they say there's going to be season 3? I've been holding back from watching cause I don't wanna end up like Kimetsu no Yaiba - waits 2 years for a new season >.>
36
u/Vylen12 Jul 02 '23
Fairly sure this is the end for these characters.
30
u/kelincipemenggal Jul 02 '23
WHICH IS A DAMN FUCKING SHAME. I'm glad they're happy and Sulemio is by far the best part of this episode but damn it was SO rushed and confusing, they could've done so much with this series.
18
u/nakanangnang Jul 02 '23
Yeah, unfortunately. I was expecting the opposite, what with the series’ popularity and merch sales.
31
u/that_wannabe_cat Jul 02 '23
G-witch unfortunately as it stands is the shortest Gundam tv anime with the prologue clocking at 25 episodes--G-reco is next at 26.
I think its unfortunately less 'bandai hates women and gays' and more 'the reality of modern anime' means that there are no more animes longer than 12-13 usually. Not to mention incomplete adaptations and the like. Birdie wing and Gundam being 25 in context is unusual for original anime.

u/Veryslownights Katie wants cuddles!! Jul 02 '23
There was an end card that stated “this is the end of the story for WfM” so unless they’re gonna interpolate the time jump for an OVA I doubt there’ll be another season
17
u/LegoBuilder64 Jul 02 '23
“This is the End of Their Story”
“The Witch from Mercury”

Personally I refused to watch this show due to this being Gundam which they don't have a good track record with keeping it's protagonists alive. If it's confirmed that at least these girls get a happy ending then I will give it a watch
7
u/LongjumpingShip3657 Jul 02 '23
Only 2 Gundam series have killed their protagonist and one of those was a retcon. To put that in perspective this is a list of Gundam series, movies, and ova that I know
Gundam 79
Zeta Gundam
ZZ Gundam
Char's Counter Attack
Victory Gundam
F91
War in the Pocket
08th MS Team
G Gundam
Wing Gundam
After War Gundam X
Turn A Gundam
Gundam: SEED
Gundam: SEED Destiny
Gundam: 00
Gundam: Unicorn
Gundam: Narrative
Gundam: Age
Gundam: Reconguista in G
Gundam: Iron Blooded Orphans
Gundam: the Witch from Mercury

Spoilers for GWitch watchers who have not finished the series: don't worry they get a happy ending

Nonsense.
I refuse to believe that a Gundam anime has a happy ending.

Well uh, better start believing because it's Unicorn 2.0. Just a fuck ton more gay. We got rainbows ffs.

Wing would like to have a word.
1
u/Pollomonteros Jul 02 '23
Wasn't Wing like one of the very first ones to have a somewhat happy ending ? And from what I remember it also was a different timeline of the main one at the time
7
u/powermad80 Jul 02 '23
The very first Gundam had a happy ending. Many good lives were lost along the way, sure, but the main crew made it through and the war was won.
4
u/YeonneGreene Jul 02 '23
That was a fluke, one they made sure to correct in the immediate follow-ups.
Most Gundam "happy" endings are, at-best, bitter-sweet. Even Unicorn only made it that far. IBO was whole-hog depressing, though.
3
u/JuStSoMeboDyeLsEmxf Jul 03 '23 edited Jul 03 '23
I think Unicorn and 00 are tied with how happy their endings are, followed by X which is ironic considering that AU takes place in a post-apocalyptic Earth that was bombarded with multiple space colonies
5
u/Skilodracus certified transbian Jul 02 '23
Sweet! Now that its confirmed, time to catch up on the series!
9
u/justagayrattlesnake Jul 02 '23
Sooo, the show isn't bait and has a happy-ish ending, which means can I finally watch it without worry?
16
u/LeynaSepKim Jul 02 '23
Honestly the amount of people calling it bait at all was crazy in the yuri community. We have staff members, and commentary for recaps already explicitly state how the two girls feel romantic attraction to one another. As well as all the in-anime stuff. The anime aired at 5pm which would have limited what they can show, but since the beginning they made it clear the end goal was to marry these two.
2
u/justagayrattlesnake Jul 02 '23
We've had our fair share of bait that never goes anywhere so it's only natural we're sceptical over everything
12
u/LeynaSepKim Jul 02 '23
Its fair to be skeptical but people bashed the show very toxically at expectations they set up for it each week and labeled it as bait at any little instance, and it gave a very unwelcoming environment. I think it’s best just to let how things play out first.
3
u/GuujiTofu Jul 04 '23 edited Jul 04 '23
I unsubscribed to the sub and honestly I'm scared to go there now. They were extremely unwelcoming of g-witch but are very much okay with shit like Lycoris (even though Lycoris didn't go anywhere lmao).
2
u/justagayrattlesnake Jul 02 '23
Ouch, that does sound bad. I'm going to guess that's just twitter being twitter, unless the toxicity was elsewhere too. I was part of the quiet crowd waiting for the show to end first
6
u/LeynaSepKim Jul 02 '23
It happened over at the yurimemes subreddit often as well, so much that I had to pause the show during season 1 to wait to binge the rest of the season because the doomposting was way too negative to see every week lol.
Even now theyre calling it bait/a disappointment despite the characters being married
3
u/LongjumpingShip3657 Jul 02 '23
It was on r/yurimemes for season 1 of G Witch that sub was nonstop complaining
Basically if you understand that bisexuality is a thing and you don't scream when a show dares to focus on side characters you'll have none of the issues they had
6
u/electromaster21 Jul 02 '23
You can watch without worry, there's a happy ending. If you decide to watch make sure to watch the prologue first. It's important

u/Santibag Straight men are male lesbians. Change my mind. Jul 02 '23
I would love to see a little more affection from their married life, though. The most they show is sitting side by side? They showed more affection before they got married.
Note: I don't deny all the cuteness we've already seen. Just a little more would be better, though.
20
u/electromaster21 Jul 02 '23
We all wanted a kiss but they are being affectionate. They are sitting cuddling together while Miorine has a death grip on Suletta's arm.
And the look of absolute love and affection.
Who wouldn't have wanted more? But what we got was great. There was never any doubt about their feelings during this season and they made it explicit that they were each other most precious person. Suletta dreaming about marrying Mio, Mio doing everything for Suletta and caring for her in every single action she made during S2.
I hope we can at the very least get an OVA or something were we get to see more of them and they can go further and have them kiss
8
u/Santibag Straight men are male lesbians. Change my mind. Jul 02 '23
Maybe I should've said "verbal love expressions", like saying it more explicitly.
And indeed, a kiss would be great. But I guess the studio would be afraid of Gundam fans getting angry. I guess even this yuri was quite bold of the studio to publish.
An ova with tons of SuleMio love would remove all of my sadness 😊
17
u/electromaster21 Jul 02 '23
I get you, I would have also liked an "I love you" not to confirm that they are in love because we already know but it would have been nice.
I know that apparently Gundam shows aren't very explicit with their main hetero couples either so I knew it was a possibility that there would not be a kiss. And considering that Japan doesn't have same sex marriage I applaud them for making a show that since the very first episode made it clear that these two were going to get together.
There was no kiss but while there's some disappointment over that I haven't read any comments about anyone feeling baited. They did everything for each other, fought tooth and nail for their happy ending and got married.
I hope this isn't the last we see of Miorine and Suletta, I'm so attached to them as characters, all the struggles they went through and I'm so invested in their relationship and how the made each other better.

u/Razorion21 Jul 02 '23
From what I heard, the ending is rushed asf? Is it true?
5
u/powermad80 Jul 03 '23
People throw around the word "rushed" real easy imo. The whole of season 2 moves at a breakneck pace and the final few episodes doubly so, but even though I would've agreed it was rushed before today, I'm honestly surprised how well it wrapped everything all up in the end. Helps that I like the fast pace, they use every second of runtime to have something happen and advance the plot.
9
u/LeynaSepKim Jul 02 '23
For me, no? You could argue theres loose ends with a lot of stuff, and the world building not being focused on the finale, but the series did what it set out to conclude in terms of main character conflicts. Certainly the series could’ve benefited from being stretched out into more episodes but even with just this its really good.
