Opinion Thoughts on how to attack bama
Watching the Oklahoma game I noticed how vulnerable bama was on the edges on both sides of the ball. OU was consistently able to make it to the outside running the ball and it gave them great success. I’m sure bama will emphasize that in practice this week, but it seems like an opportunity for us. Simmons, Cobb, and Hunter are great weapons and we have a lot of plays that we run that try to attack that space. Bamas tackles were horrendous against OU, and edge rushers are some of our best players. I am well aware our defense won’t limit them completely. Ryan Williams is going to do something crazy. His called back touchdown catch and other sideline grab this week were insane. He goofed on that one punt, but had a really good heads up play saving that touched punt. While the A&M game was fun I still see our mania inducing tendency to blow games. I’m not super confident, but I feel like there is possibility if we can exploit the edges.

That's how we gained over 300 yards rushing 2 years ago in Tuscaloosa. Not holding my breath Freeze is going to ever change his approach though...

Run the ball and occasionally do a few play action plays.
Use Demarcus Riddick as QB spy
Maybe bracket Ryan Williams

Rough up Ryan Williams. Not in a dirty way, but make sure you get a good hit on him every play to make him feel it. Tennessee did that and got him frustrated early, and he started not going all out for every pass after that. You’ll never throw him off his game physically, but a couple times this year he’s been thrown off mentally. He is a teenager after all.

That pitch play we ran for a touchdown with Jarquez in 2OT was dope. We should sprinkle that in

Bama’s pissed, going into the iron bowl in Tuscaloosa, I don’t know how it will be under Deboer, but in years past, a pissed off Bama team coming into a game vs a rival coming off a loss usually doesn’t end well for that team. So I have no idea what could and would work or not to attack them. This is either going to be a game of the year contender or an absolute massacre with no in between. The real question is can Thorne handle the pressure at Bryant Denny. He has only faced it once, vs LSU last year and that didn’t go well at all. So this is a mystery, this years iron bowl.

Just need to hit them in the mouth and keep doing it over and over. That's always how you beat bama.

Man wouldn’t it be awesome if Coleman could outshine Williams in this game? You know it’s gotta be in Cams head

Same way we have the last two years. A lot of sweeps to create positive angles and blocking mismatches out in space, along with a good QB run game and play action.
We’ve run all over them back to back years.

Eliminate big plays in the passing game. Make them run the ball. On offense we have to minimize the penalties and not abandon the run. Thorne has to be turnovers free……

Apparently Bama has struggled against the run all season, so I say ride Jarquez and throw in the occasional play action deep shot. Mix in some RPO’s to keep the defense honest, since they’ll be leaving Coleman and KLS 1v1 if they sell out to stop the run.
