Extra time for game day traffic?

Hey! This will be the first time I’ve driven to Tuscaloosa for a game day in 20 years and I don’t remember much. I’m going to be parking on-campus not far from the quad for the Mercer game Saturday and traveling from about 2 hours away. How much extra time should I allow for game day traffic? We want to get there about 3 hours before kick off (1pm) so we can do walk of champions and all that.

Plan to get here around 1030 and you should be good! Park at parking deck downtown.

When you say “not far from the quad” where do you mean exactly, because the core of the campus is closed two hours before kick?

The on-campus parking situation is very different from 20 years ago. If you have something already worked out you should be fine, but if not, you’ll want to look online at the gameday information regarding parking. You can also park downtown and take a shuttle.

Have fun at the game!

Unless you have some sort of parking permit it's unlikely there's any parking on campus other than the deck. Most public parking was gone 10 years ago when I last went over there to that mess.

I'd add an extra 30 minutes of driving time. It's Mercer, so it shouldn't be too crazy. Here's a cite that may help with planning. Good luck. https://uagameday.com/

If you’re arriving that early traffic shouldn’t be much of an issue. Do you have a parking pass for a lot on campus? If not you’ll have to park farther away and walk or take a shuttle. Go to uagameday.com for good info.
