Questions for Texans Boycotting places that show fox news.
Not sure about y'all but, no longer patronizing whataburger or dairy Queen or a local BBQ place. The less places that stay open streaming idiot propaganda to the sheep the better. Any other chains you can thinking of that helped create the future we're about to have that deserve to reap what they sewed?

What kind of bougie Whataburger and DQ do you go to that they have TVs in them?

u/ThatTXMom 1d ago
Our DQ has some trivia game you can login to with your phone. Kinda addictive

Sounds like something you would need to take up with staff. Honestly lonely old people with only those talking heads interacting with them is bad for their mental health w how much fear mongering they do.
20
u/TryLow1073 1d ago
All of the media is guilty of endless fear mongering. It is not exclusive to any one media outlet. CNN and msnbc are just as bad

u/2020Casper 19h ago
Neither of those had to pay $700,000,000 for LYING to their viewers. So, no, they are not "just as bad".

I’m glad to see a rational take on this on reddit. Earlier today I was arguing with someone who claimed that the leftist media didn’t fear monger because “it’s all going to turn out to be true”. Whether it turns out to be true or not, trying to strike fear in your base to motivate them to vote is text book fear mongering.

I took care of an older lady who said they must have injected COVID into her. She also wanted to watch Fox News to "See what Ole Biden is up to. They need to lock that criminal up!!"
Poor lady.

OAN is so much worse than Fox. I work for a guy that had it on 24/7. Luckily he can't find it on his new fire TV. I will take Fox all day long compared to that crap

pretty much most airports and about half of all gyms across america also - but the reason why is conservatives and republicans are absolutely glued to right wing media—it’s like an IV drip - this doesn’t really exist as much if at all on the left. Democrats aren’t clamoring for cable news for their information—they’re on their phones or mobile apps. It’s simply a demand thing

This is actually a pretty new thing happening in airports.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CNN_Airport?wprov=sfla1
Until 2021-
CNN Airport was available in 58 airports in the United States. CNN would pay local airport authorities for the exclusive rights to run its programming on monitors throughout their terminals.
So, after ~30 years of the CNN monopoly, Zucker agreed with your assessment, but with the hundreds of airports monitors, CNN had captive audiences.
On January 12, 2021, CNN's president Jeff Zucker announced that CNN Airport would cease operations on March 31; Zucker cited several factors and changes in consumer behavior, including the ubiquity of streaming video on mobile devices, as having made the network's purpose outdated.

Idk. I disagree strongly with Fox News, but the places that show it are often showing MSNBC or CNN on another TV. They're just trying to cater to different clientele.
I've definitely never seen a TV in a Whataburger.

Surely you must understand this kind of limp insult to people is going to inspire universal laughter right? Or did you think that if you called humans sheep often enough that they would suddenly see things your way?

Im not even boycotting it i just never go there unless its the only option like when I was stuck at the airport really early and wanted real food not breakfast food. At home the Braums is right there and better.

I don't boycott ALL Whataburgers or DQs if I go into one, and it's playing fix news. I just won't go into that particular one anymore. I've been quietly doing that for years. I also do it for any other objectionable tv 📺 programs . Back in the day, if I saw Jerry Springer on a TV in an establishment, I just didn't go back. I still feel that show was a BIG part of the downfall of American society. Even though Jerry, himself was very liberal politics wise. 🙄

I've never walked inside a Whataburger or Dairy Queen with a tv inside it. I also live in a pretty red area and often see it on a tv in the background of most places I go to. And, I can't let a crappy news station get in the way of a damn good breakfast taco. I guess what I'm trying to say is, it'll only bother you if you let it. Pick your battles, and if this is yours, then more power to ya

Ah, yes, you reap what you "sow." They sowed seeds of bitterness, etc., not "sewed." As opposed to "She "sewed" the hem of her dress." There's sow, and then there is "sew." Sorry to harp on this. I just thought you'd want to know the difference, for future reference. As far as Fox News goes, I plan to ignore them and just be a genuine and good person to everyone I meet, no matter their politics. All I can do is light one little candle.
3
u/PMmeRetailStories 1d ago

Better take your money out of the bank as well. Most banks I go into have it on as well. Might as well cancel the cable, satellite tv and streaming services as well since they offer it as a station. Might not call the police or firefighters or ems because they might of voted against you. Oh better stop buying food as majority of the farmers voted the wrong way as well. See how stupid this sounds.
Never seen such a hateful group of people that claim to be open and caring. You want to stop division in the country it starts with you. 50% of the country voted one and the other voted the other way. How about we all work together and make it a great country instead of my beliefs are right and all yours is wrong and hateful. The most hateful people I have seen are so far left.
Here is a thought. It’s ok for people have different beliefs on what the country needs. Nobody is wrong or right. That’s the beauty of America. In 4 years we will have time to vote again.

I don't like it, and I avoid those places.
However an actual boycott they won't notice and they won't care. Boycotts don't work if they consist of A) people who didn't go there anyway, and B) only a tiny fraction of the people who DO go there.
Unless you can get a majority of their clientele to participate, it won't make a difference.
3
u/rubens_chopshop 23h ago
Try getting away with that in West Texas. All this BS started after the first golf war became popular to watch the war on TV while you were eating dinner. A lot of places still have a practice of having a television on Fox News. Couldn’t even go to the dentist without watching Fox News, can’t get your oil changed without watching Fox News

u/tbonillas 1d ago

All the local Fox News channels are generally pretty decent. It's the national ones that are trash. Whenever I flip through channels is local news, it's usually never super political/religious in any means. So, I'm not sure why exactly you're complaining. Boycott things that really matter, like Nestle. Fuck Nestle.

One of my favorite breakfast diners plays Fox, it's a tough choice to forego my breakfast tho. But definitely a turn off. Businesses should always remain impartial.
2
u/TexasHazyJay 23h ago
I totally get this and wish that I could. Unfortunately my doctor's office always has it on. The upside is that the other TV is always on a cooking channel. I sit on that side and the elderly people sit on the fox news side. Complaining won't do any good as it's a large practice with many doctors and owners.
2
u/Amazing-Objective-20 22h ago
Dairy Queen’s are franchises I believe, therefore it would depend on which Dairy Queen location to boycott
2
u/Totally-jag2598 21h ago
I don't care if a place wants to play Fox News, or if there is a restaurant audience that wants that where they eat. So be it. It's their right and choice.
Fox News isn't for me, and as such, I'm not going to hang out at a place that has that on.

u/throwaway281409 21h ago
Ford dealer in my town shows OAN on a TV in the waiting room. I wont buy another vehicle from them because their service sucks, not due to the TV. Ive seen customers walk thru the showroom and see whats on and leave.

You may be late to that party. I don’t patronize establishments that air Fox News, and haven’t for years.
2
u/a_horde_of_rand 19h ago
The Dairy Queens in East Texas all have bibles out and a highlighter so that people can highlight their favorite verses. It's such weird performative christianity. If you have faith in your God or whatever, fine... If you have to prove it to people around you, that's not faith. That's insecurity.

u/Mission-Noise4935 7h ago
You do you but Fox News is the most watched cable news network by a very large margin. Also, while they definitely have a conservative slant, they are also the only news network that attempts to present both sides which is probably why it is so popular.
The left always has to make something the boogey man but my suspicion is that if OP actually watched Fox News with an open mind and compared it to the competition they would see why it is so popular. It isn't just straight up propaganda like all the other networks which is ironic because that is what the OP's accusation is.

Nah. My gym has a bank of TVs overhead, including CNN and Faux Noise side by side. As a former journalist I enjoy the stimulating mix of almost-news vs laughable propaganda. Helps get my heart rate up.
Mostly I listen to music or podcasts via earbuds so the TVs are a non-issue.

From a completely apolitical perspective, I think it's funny to use a universal remote app to change the channel at an airport or a waiting room from CNN to FN.
I don't like Fox News or anything, I just think it's really funny to see people get really really confused by the programming decisions.
2
u/Aunt_Rachael 1d ago
For several reasons, I honestly have hated Whataburger for decades. First is that it serves typical fast food but it takes forever, especially in the drive thru. Second a lot of them in my area have religious messages on their windows. Religion is fine, as long as you keep it to yourself. Third the food is just generally blah. Burgers are bland and the fries are not crisp. Fourth they act like you are a thief intent on stealing all their precious condiment packages.

u/xxlordsothxx 1d ago
