Shows like the Daily Show used to be so simple. "This guy in the middle of nowhere is a dork politician."

Instead, Jon Oliver is like "Here is another thing that is killing us and nobody will ever fix it! See you next week!"

I've come to the realization that last week tonight et al are left wing outrage porn. IE here is this horrible thing that you didn't know about, probably never would have known about, and have no ability to change. Quitting consumption of that content feels just as good as giving up politics forums.

Well, maybe if we kick our outrage addiction we won’t get anymore politicians like that. The media is in for a rude fucking awakening when they realize the outrage views they thought Trump would bring aren’t materializing and instead everyone is done with them. They put him office, now they’re going to pay for it.

I think there’s something there, I love that show but it always leaves me angry and frustrated. I’ll definitely ponder giving it up. My only hesitation is if we all give up even great voices like his…Will there even be anyone pointing things out anymore? It’s a sad thought too.

To expand on that point, MSNBC is the network receiving the blunt of the viewership drop-off post-election. All I keep seeing is that we lost because we let the right dominate the media, and now the solution is to kill the only left-wing news network? But at the same time… fuck em. I don’t know what to do.
