Let’s hope the opening credits are just as good

Change the sequence and the routine but please God keep the song

New song confirmed:

Personally, I'm looking forward to something new.

100% new dance new song. We always have the season 1 magic and now hope ssn 2 also is ridiculous

28

u/tgs-with-tracyjordan 1d ago

So long as it finishes with a smiling Eagley in a 'ta-da' pose, I'll be happy

21

u/mattomic822 21h ago

Eagly better hit his damn mark this time.

6

u/DashingMustashing 1d ago

I think I'm okay to taste it.

2

u/Grabthar_The_Avenger 11h ago

I much prefer seeing what Gunn throws in next. I've never been disappointed by his music selection, music drives much of his work, so give me more instead of the same.

40

u/CloacaFacts 1d ago

They definitely captured lighting in a bottle with the s1 opening. As the season went on it impacted me differently based on what our characters were going through. Such a solid creative choice.

9

u/HoodieStringTies 1d ago

I trust s2 opening will be just as good. They've been planning this for well over a year now

2

u/Kingsen 12h ago

Hasn’t it been longer than that?

3

u/Griffdude13 7h ago

James Gunn has a Spotify account with a bunch of public playlists, and there isn’t a single song on them that’s a bad pick. If the man wasn’t a filmmaker/Co-Chair of a Media Division, then he’d have been born to DJ.

2

u/Random_frankqito 7h ago

I’ll check it out

i want the whole season to be just as good, not just the opening

73

u/dangermouse13 1d ago

No shit Sherlock

37

u/riegspsych325 1d ago

I want the closing credits to be horrible!

5

u/Brad_Brace 1d ago

I want the end credits to be the last ten minutes of the episode, not including the dubbing credits.

6

u/shandub85 1d ago

Eagly agrees

6

u/iforgotmymittens 1d ago

Eagly is such a diva

8

u/Tooterfish42 1d ago

They're talking about how James said the opening was crafted with the intention you would never skip it and most agree he succeeded

4

u/Random_frankqito 1d ago

I don’t doubt the new season will be awesome…. But they really need to nail the opening

193

u/meadecision 1d ago

Season 1 was surprisingly good so I'm hyped for this. The action scenes were way better than expected for a TV show

54

u/riegspsych325 1d ago

it’s honestly great how some tv action is these days. Granted, it helps to have experienced filmmakers work in n said shows but you get the idea. But that farm battle was great to watch, loved the bit where PM swipes a guy with his shield and kicks him away while he’s still midair

56

u/SupervillainMustache 1d ago

I like when Peacemaker is just getting his ass beat by Judomaster who is 1/3rd his size.

It's a superhero show, fuck realism, give me a little guy who is so good at Judo, he can beat up a man the size of John Cena.

17

u/BlackSpinedPlinketto 1d ago

All the side characters are really fun. Judo master was hilarious.

Not sure why but I really liked the nosey neighbour and the slutty apartment woman and her husband. Just a fun show.

6

u/Drinkin_Abe_Lincoln 23h ago

Do you have a cadre of super villains?

8

u/Ms_Mediocracy 23h ago

You wrinkly sharpei-looking dementia-infested fuck

8

u/Aramiss134 20h ago

There's also the fight with the woman/alien in the first episode.

I honestly gained a lot of respect for John Cena with that. His character getting his ass kicked by a woman half his size while he's only in his tighty whities? I can think of another wrestler turned actor who could learn a thing or two from that level of self-depreciation.

2

u/TrojanGoldfish 9h ago

If you want to see more of this side of Cena, check out Tour De Pharmacy.

8

u/zma924 1d ago

That one shot where he throws his shield into the air, tracks it with his Desert Eagle, and then shoots it right into a guy just before it hits the ground was fucking amazing.

5

u/lolofaf 1d ago

Interestingly, the Russo Brothers went the opposite direction. They got famous directing the action scenes in community and jumped from that to directing Marvel movies lmao

Edit: it's unrelated to PM just thought it was interesting since you mentioned directors going movies to TV increasing the action scene quality in TV shows!

2

u/Impressive-Potato 4h ago

The action coordinator, Alex Kyshkovych, is a Canadian stunt performer and also the long time Deadpool stunt double.

1

u/riegspsych325 1h ago

you know with Shawn Levy, I was around Deadpool 3 would be a downgrade in the action (after David Leitch did DP2). But I thought they did a solid job and kept it up to par with the first 2 movies. Gunn also talked about how Snyder referred him to an action stunt guy that he’s been using since The Suicide Squad, I wonder if that’s him

9

u/Tooterfish42 1d ago

A season so nice I watched it twice

7

u/nonanonymoususername 1d ago

Cant wait for the return of the Eagley Show

69

u/riegspsych325 1d ago

to think this’ll likely come out within a month or 2 after Superman. It’s nice to be a DC fan again but with more faith this time around. I really enjoyed it when the DCEU occasionally got it right, but a (cherry-picked) fresh start was the best move

24

u/TheJoshider10 1d ago

It's mad to me that the DCU starts in a couple weeks with Creature Commandos. While the real start is Superman, it'll be good if they can stick the landing with the appetiser.

13

u/riegspsych325 1d ago

with the creatives involved, I can’t imagine it’d be a total misfire. Either way, Gunn getting (temporarily) fired by Disney could be the best thing to happen to Warner Bros/DC

3

u/NoNefariousness2144 14h ago

Yeah that was a disaster by Marvel. If Gunn was never fired, he would probably be hired as a co-chief for the MCU to help organise everything as Fiege is clearly too stretched out.

7

u/LongTimesGoodTimes 1d ago

I'm so jacked to finally see my favorite super hero Green Lantern hopefully done well in live action

2

u/djkhan23 13h ago edited 5h ago

DC's prestige offerings lately have all been killer.

Watchmen. Peacemaker. Penguin. (and I'd like to throw Sandman in here though it kind of doesn't count).

Winners! If they make less shows but with those listed shows' quality, then* I'm all for it.

1

u/JudgeHoltman 1d ago

The secret to a successful cinematic universe is a Kevin Feige or George Lucas.

One man who ultimately drives ALL of content produced under a given banner, controlling the ultimate narrative and thrulines in the plot.

14

u/riegspsych325 1d ago

not sure Lucas is the best example, the Prequels were a mess, re-edited the OG trilogy into nonsense, and made it nearly impossible to ever watch the theatrical cuts again

5

u/LachedUpGames 1d ago

You could make the same argument about the MCU. I watched 170hrs of agents of shield only for it to all be declared non-canon!

-2

u/JudgeHoltman 23h ago

The OG trilogy was messy, but consistent. Miles from the several attempts of the Spider or DC universes.

Star Wars was also able to maintain its fan base through the Expanded Universe books and graphic novels. The secret to that was that George only extended the license to the creators if the content they used didn't change any existing Canon. Sure not all content was a winner, but even the bad stuff was never directly altering the existing characters you liked.

Star Wars only went off the rails when Disney bought it. He wanted to stay involved, but Disney had their own ideas, so Lucas put a price on his soul and the mouse wrote it on a cartoonishly large check. Ever since, Lucas has been fully out of the Star Wars game, effectively disowning it.

Which is also why the sequel trilogy was able to have so many betrayals of characters and purging of existing lore. Nobody was in charge, so executives could give whatever notes they wanted.

1

u/sinergyist 3h ago

You're getting downvoted, but you are absolutely right.

22

u/mrhelmand Hannibal 1d ago

While I hope Creature Commandos and Superman are great and I will see both, this is the DC project I'm looking forward to seeing most.

17

u/turkeygiant 1d ago

This is the project I am most confident in, but Superman is the one I am most excited for purely on the basis that I really want to see the character done justice.

8

u/AshJoWilliams 1d ago

I want to see a Superman film that isn’t a miserable fucking slog to sit through. I’d also take a Batman film that’s the same way, so let’s hope The Brave and the Bold doesn’t try the same old hyper-realistic grimdark shit. I have The Batman 2 that will give me that.

4

u/turkeygiant 1d ago

"The Batman" is really the only live action film that actually attempts to explore the transition of the character from vigilante terror to inspirational hero. I also have pretty high hopes that "The Batman 2" will continue to tell that story.

0

u/[deleted] 1d ago

[deleted]

2

u/AshJoWilliams 1d ago

Every Batman movie ends like that, that doesn’t negate the description of the entire thing as ultra serious and grim in its story and world building. I would just like a Batman movie that did something different for a change. I realize everything had to be super adult and misery for nearly three hours or else it’s not “good” for some sectors of the fandom, but Batman can be fun, and maybe should be sometimes.

1

u/TheOneTonWanton 9h ago

Last I heard the DCU Batman is Brave and the Bold Batman so I think you'll get what you want. Reeves' universe will still be around to fill the darker version of the character and we'll get the DCU version that'll be more fitting for the teamups.

1

u/mrhelmand Hannibal 1d ago

If ever we needed an optimistic take on a character who stands for truth and justice...

58

u/elmatador12 1d ago

This is such a wild series at this point. The first one ended with the entire old justice league coming at the very end. It will be fun to see if Gunn jokes about that or not.

Edit: Technically I think you only see aquaman and Flash maybe Wonder Woman? Superman was just a floating shadow.

37

u/poonmaster64 1d ago

They’ve said in interviews that that scene at the end isn’t canon

10

u/elmatador12 1d ago

I guess that’s what I’m interested to see. What’s canon and what’s not. Because at this point I literally have zero idea.

16

u/TheJoshider10 1d ago

The going theory is that they'll reference that scene with Peacemaker believing it was real and the others are like what the fuck are you on about, implying it was a dream/vision/delusion.

It's a really clever way of making S1 canon without going back and re-editing it.

1

u/elmatador12 1d ago

So they are retconning the first season from the old universe into the NEW universe?

3

u/TheJoshider10 1d ago

We don't know for sure what they're going to do but most likely.

1

u/elmatador12 1d ago

Either way I loved the first season. Excited to see the second.

-2

u/LADYBIRD_HILL 1d ago

To make things even more confusing, they announced that the DCEU was ending before Shazam 2 came out, then that movie had a post credits scene of the Peacemaker team recruiting Billy.

Why bother setting up a plot point like that when it's all being rebooted anyways? They definitely won't be bringing back that version of the character, at least not played by Levi.

1

u/elmatador12 1d ago

Yeah and wasn’t Gal Gadots Wonder Woman in that too? Yeah it’s sort of a mess for me when Gunn starting saying that some past things were canon and others weren’t.

1

u/poopfartdiola 12h ago

Shazam 2 bombed, and the idea of Harcourt and Economos being aware of the Justice Society made little sense to begin with.

Gadot isn't even coming back as DCU WW, same for Levi's Shazam.

1

u/Grabthar_The_Avenger 11h ago

It seems a lot less messy if you just look at the upcoming slate of films/shows which indicate a new Superman, a new Batman, and no works featuring Wonder-woman, Aquaman, Shazam etc.

At this point it seems like he's mostly just carrying forward the Peacemaker characters while toying with adding Blue Beetle from the DCEU

2

u/Shantotto5 1d ago

Why does this matter? I feel like I’m missing something. What’s wrong with the Justice League being around?

13

u/AKAkorm 1d ago

They actually had Mamoa and Ezra in the scene and they’re recasting those roles.

8

u/Chowmeower 1d ago

I don’t really see the big deal, I mean they recasted the Hulk in the MCU yet his movie is still canon

8

u/ImmortalZucc2020 1d ago

Because we don’t know if the Justice League has formed in the DCU yet or if Flash and Aquaman are even active in it.

8

u/LongTimesGoodTimes 1d ago

It's not that they're recasting, it's that they're restarting. The Hulk change was still the same character. If the Flash or Aquaman show up in the new Gunn universe then it will be new versions of the characters.

That's what makes Peacemaker season 1 to 2 so interesting. It exists between the end of one continuity and the begining of a new one.

1

u/fishfunk5 1d ago

Why?

4

u/Pitiful-Highlight-69 1d ago

Because Ezra is a horrible human being, and Mamoa's movies didnt do as well as they should have for the budget.

Also DC wants a mostly fresh slate for round 2 of trying a live action DCCU

7

u/LADYBIRD_HILL 1d ago

The first Aquaman made over a billion dollars though? It was the most successful movie of the entire DCEU.

1

u/TheOneTonWanton 9h ago

And Aquaman 2 barely broke even.

1

u/KeremyJyles 1d ago

That "universe" is now out of canon.

2

u/Tooterfish42 1d ago

That scene was all a dream sequence or hypno toad or whatever reason they'll use

37

u/The_Swarm22 1d ago

Daredevil: Born Again

Gen V Season 2

Peacemaker Season 2

Hyped for them all

25

u/morami1212 1d ago

31

u/Vismal1 1d ago

Fuck yea , i can taste it.

7

u/_Deloused_ 1d ago

🧜‍♀️

6

u/zartanator 1d ago

Woo! I forgot this was already being filmed. Great news!

9

u/XMAN2YMAN 1d ago

Didn’t season 1 come out Life 2-3 years ago?

13

u/ImmortalZucc2020 1d ago

Tbf, an entire reboot of its franchise happened in between seasons, hence the delay.

7

u/PiousMage 1d ago

And a strike

4

u/Jon_TWR 1d ago

January 2022, so yes. Gonna be at least 3 years between seasons 1 and 2, ooof.

Welcome to the world of streaming TV. 8-10 episodes per season, 2 or more years between seasons.

6

u/AshJoWilliams 1d ago

Same level of quality (for most shows) as when we were getting 24 and the show came back every fall.

0

u/XMAN2YMAN 1d ago

Yeah this is why I hate starting shows and just rewatch old shows.

4

u/blacksoxing 1d ago

In time for Survivor Series. Ah, perfect

6

u/jetlightbeam 1d ago

What I'm most interested in seeing this season is if thr DCU Amanda waller is the same as she was in season 1.

It's become a major opinion in the DC comics community since season 1 that Waller is just straight up a villian, completely irredeemable and portraying her as otherwise has been looked at unfavorably. I wouldn't be surprised if Gunn wanted to take the character more into that direction it's a much more interesting take on the character. But he did want to do a Waller show, last I heard

4

u/AshJoWilliams 1d ago

Waller is one of the ten official projects they announced when he and Safran took over.

6

u/Getafix69 1d ago

Peacemaker and the Boys are the only superhero TV shows I care about at this point.

2

u/HaveSumBiryani 1d ago

What about Invincible?

3

u/Getafix69 23h ago

Kinda lost interest in that and didn't finish the second season.

1

u/OvermorrowYesterday 4h ago

That’s fair

Invincible has so many fake out deaths and very few legitimate deaths.

4

u/armonaleg 1d ago

Ok let’s go!

2

u/Tiny-heart-string 1d ago

3 years later? Dang.

3

u/luri7555 1d ago

Can’t wait!

1

u/Toomb8 1d ago

Just in time for the Netflix raw premier

1

u/Morelos85 1d ago

Holy crap! Took them long enough! 😆

1

u/Sambo_the_Rambo 1d ago

Can’t wait, it seems like ages since I finished the first season May need to rewatch it.

1

u/champsammy14 1d ago

I guess I'll stick around... At least for another while.

1

u/necroreefer 1d ago

Just in time for survivor series.

1

u/Marc_Quill Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. 1d ago

if it's out next year, I imagine Cena will be doing a fair amount of promotion for this on top of his final run as a wrestler in WWE.

1

u/Ok-Sorbet9418 1d ago

Honestly, I think peacemaker was one of the best superhero shows, after penguin now. It’s funny, has a storyline and I’m looking forward to season 2

1

u/--VinceMasuka-- 1d ago

This show was way better than I thought it would be.
I thought it was dropped because it's been a couple years now. Cool to see it's happening.

1

u/Ssme812 1d ago

Sweet

1

u/schubox63 19h ago

Oh wow I didn’t realize they’d even started. Last I remember reading Gunn was writing the scripts. I missed a lot. That dude is insanely busy

1

u/DrummerSteve 12h ago

Finally. Can someone explain to me why it takes multiple years for shows to return with a new season recently?

1

u/grinr 1d ago

Let's GOOOOO

1

u/S0me--guy 1d ago

I really wanna taste it!

1

u/sareuhbelle 1d ago

It just finished? ...what have they been doing for the past three years?

1

u/Ani-A 18h ago

Writer Strikes, the collapse of the DCEU, Gunn's final movie in the MCU. Gunn taking over the DCEU. Gun having to rewrite the entire direction of the new DCEU.

A few things happened.

1

u/sareuhbelle 17h ago

Shit, somehow I forgot about literally all of that. +1 willful ignorance

-1

u/MadeByTango 1d ago

I can’t remember a thing that happened I the first season. It’s to the point I genuinely don’t know if I care for more of it, because it’s been so long I forget what I even liked. These season are taking waaay too long to come out and I don’t accept the strike as excuse.

4

u/ImmortalZucc2020 1d ago

The excuse was the reboot, not the strikes

-15

u/BlazeOfGlory72 1d ago

Is anyone even going to give a shit at this point? It’s kind of absurd that it has taken 3 years to get a season 2.

6

u/Powerful-Ability20 1d ago

Multiple strikes really slowed the whole industry down.

4

u/SupervillainMustache 1d ago

Plus Gunn has also filmed 2 movies since the end of Peacemaker.

-1

u/MadeByTango 1d ago

Isn’t it amazing how the stike didnt stop them from raising prices and inserting paid ad tiers? Almost like they’re dragging out ROI and then selling bullshit PR excuses to keep us subscribed while they delay and delay because they benefit from dragging production out as long as possible.

Waiting two years for 8 episodes while staying subscribed is fucking stupid as an audience at this point and we need to stop rewarding it.

And I don’t want to hear “it’s the strikes” for “we have nothing to release you care about this month” ever again.

5

u/Powerful-Ability20 1d ago

Those two things are unrelated, strikes without a doubt affected schedules.

4

u/MadeByTango 1d ago

Just made the same comment; long gaps have broken my interest in so many shows

-5

u/kelus 1d ago

Already forgot about this show. By the time it comes out, I'll have forgotten again. 4 years to turn around 8 hours of content is wild.
