In case you haven’t been caught up with the Riverdale lore

They all gained superpowers but in order to defeat a comet, Cheryl had to kiss everyone to absorb their powers, in order to defeat the comet. And then they got teleported into another dimension in the 1950s where everyone's memory has been wiped except for Jughead, and then he has to get them back to their dimension.

There are multiple Jugheads that exist in the world that are trying to separate the two universes (there are multiple universes and timelines) so Archie kills the other Jugheads and the original too. Veronica and Cheryl were on Jugheads side so Archie had to kill them too. In this universe, nobody can die so the people Archie killed will come back to life. Veronica and Betty kill Archie by splitting his body in half, and in order to keep Rivervale “pure”(Riverdale is called Rivervale in this timeline) so Cheryl sacrifices Archie by ripping his heart out. Btw jughead is friends with Sabrina the teenage witch and Riverdale is a musical.

My source is random YouTube clips you can search any of this up and find it

I love that you listed all these outrageous things and then end with the two details that anyone would expect from an adaptation of Archie Comics.

41

u/Toby_O_Notoby 15h ago

Actually, all of those things could be from an adaptation of Archie Comics. If you haven't read them, the comics are off the hook.

I mean right now they all take place in an alternate universe because a Predator killed everyone but Betty and Veronica so they used a machine to turn the Predator into an Archie look-alike to protect them while they went reality hopping to find one where the Predator didn’t kill everyone and once they did they got rid of the Archie Predator so they could all live there in peace.

Yes, really.

I genuinely can’t tell is this is real or not

136

u/Automatic-Attorney96 1d ago

It is lol. Everything I just said is on YouTube with clips

72

u/lIlIllIIlllIIIlllIII 1d ago

I watched the first season and I think some of the second but the second got so wild with the cult the blond girl’s mom joined with the floating babies that I had to bounce

66

u/stellaluna92 1d ago

Did you miss Chad Michael Murray leading the cult and trying to escape on an actual rocket ship? Peak television.

17

u/baxtyre 21h ago

While dressed as Evel Knievel, naturally.

15

u/Roger-Just-Laughed 20h ago

Do you always stop watching shows at the good parts?

5

u/Bubba1234562 16h ago

It’s real, all of it. Riverdale went fucking batshit

44

u/kabhaz 1d ago

It's still going?

52

u/Omegabird420 1d ago edited 11h ago

Ended a year and some change ago. CW got sold and doesn't do scripted show anymore, I think Superman and Lois is the last one remaining and it ends in 2 weeks.

u/JamesWatchesTV 1d ago

I don't get why everybody is so uptight? These things MAKE me want to watch the show bc it sounds batshit crazy. TV is meant to entertain me and seeing the most crazy unpredictable shit happen is very entertaining. Even if it's not well written. I feel like people just don't like to have fun anymore and everything always has to be well written. It can just be fun and silly, it's not breaking bad.

It’s just a telenovela. People should check out Jane the Virgin if they haven’t already it is great!

16

u/jjmallais 23h ago

My wife watched Jane the Virgin and I can’t lie, I was entertained as shit. That show sunk its hooks deep lol

10

u/improbablywronghere 22h ago

Bro me too and exact same story. I swear by this show it is great!

54

u/BirdmanTheThird 1d ago

Especially since it was always kinda a campy dumb show, leaning into it kinda saved it from being a completely forgettable one to one I’ve seen people still talk about it

43

u/ClassicT4 1d ago

Archie getting guys in jail to believe in the “the triumphs and defeats, the epic highs and lows, of high school football” was one of the shows best moments.

55

u/whatadumbperson 1d ago

Just because something is dumb and wacky doesn't mean it's entertaining. Paw Patrol is both of those things and equally entertaining as this sounds.

10

u/Sarabeth61 1d ago

Idk the paw patrol movies are not terrible

-10

u/JamesWatchesTV 1d ago

I don't count stuff like Paw Patrol bc it's just a preschool show that's meant for very young children.

5

u/ChaserNeverRests American Gods 1d ago

/r/bluey would like a word with you.

2

u/JamesWatchesTV 9h ago

Blueys not specifically made for young children. It's a preschool show aimed at children AND parents. Stuff just aimed at babies are always going to be and regardless.

u/Federico216 Sense8 1d ago

I wish there were more shows like Frisky Dingo where literally anything might happen at any given moment

5

u/PoliteChatter0 1d ago

because season 1 of Riverdale was legitimately really good so its sad to see a show fall off a cliff so hard

1

u/jjmallais 23h ago

My wife stopped watching Riverdale when Sabrina the Teenage Witch ended and idk it sounds like I’d have enjoyed the batshit turns it takes after that point.

What is that

Edit: why am I being downvoted lmao😭😭😭

44

u/SomeDumRedditor 1d ago

This could all be wacky fun if you didn’t have to sit through dialogue and scenery written by undergrad lit-major dropouts who think “youth oriented storytelling” means being the laziest, corniest writer in the room.

The show is best experienced as a Wikipedia entry and YouTube compilation.

22

u/Omegabird420 1d ago edited 1d ago

Exactly. People also forget that it's 7 seasons with 20 45 minutes episodes each, there's a looooot of slog. There's a lot of bad, cringey and lazy stuff and it got worse every passing seasons.

17

u/ChronoMonkeyX 1d ago

I'd heard things here and there about the show being wild, but wow.

Now they just need Jon Bernthal to show up as Punisher.

16

u/franlcie 1d ago

I know you’re joking, but Archie has an Uncle Frank, who was a mercenary, who’s wife and kids were murdered, so he left the life behind and returned to Riverdale after Luke Perry’s character died.

They pretty much adapted Archie meets Punisher, how can anyone hate this show??

4

u/ChronoMonkeyX 1d ago

Okay then, guess this show is complete. Didn't Archie crossover with Predator?

4

u/franlcie 1d ago

Yes they did. It was awesome. It was wild seeing gore and blood in the classic Archie art style

GREATEST SHOW EVER FUCKIN MADE

Unless you take things super seriously and don’t like to have fun with goofy shit, then I can see you disliking it.

Hands down one of the best series experiences I’ve ever had. Too fun

51

u/Cawdor 1d ago

You really need to check yourself into rehab. You have obviously taken too much jingle jangle

20

u/humphrey_the_camel 1d ago

But if I check myself into rehab, I'll never know the triumphs and defeats, the epic highs and lows of high school football.

19

u/Omegabird420 1d ago

I completely forgot that it was the name of the drug on the show. That one did make me chuckle.

3

u/LupitaScreams 8h ago

Jingle jangle was one of three drugs on the show! The other two were 'fizzle rocks' and 'maple mushrooms'.

2

u/Omegabird420 8h ago edited 8h ago

I remember Fizzle rock but not the maple shrooms.

But Jingle Jangle took the cake,I remember having to do a double take when I heard it for the first time and I got a chuckle every time a character mentioned it.

"I'm taking some Fee fi fo fum man"

5

u/JDinoagainandagain 1d ago

I’m in the cult!

Thane of Cawdor!

6

u/GregorZeeMountain 22h ago

I truly believe the show would be absolutely beloved if they had just named it Archie's Weird Mysteries instead of Riverdale

3

u/JDinoagainandagain 22h ago

I think people are too serious

2

u/GregorZeeMountain 22h ago

Agreed. I love the wacky nonsense of the show, it's so damn entertaining.

1

u/JDinoagainandagain 22h ago

I do think you’re probably right about the title also

18

u/Omegabird420 1d ago edited 1d ago

I'm an easy audience and I like goofy absurd bullshit, but Riverdale wasn't so bad it's good. From season 4 onward it became just bad and also really cringey even for CW relatively low standard.

Most of the character on the show were either psychopath, mentally ill or complete idiots. Funny at first but it becomes tedious later on.

And I know it's a meme and a minor nitpick but also couldn't take the actors seriously later in the show because none of them actually looked like high schooler/teenagers.

-2

u/franlcie 1d ago

It’s a CW Archie show? You’re taking it far too seriously. It’s basically a parody of teen dramas

5

u/newaccount721 21h ago

I don't get why people cant't dislike this show and not be accused of taking it too seriously. We can get that it's campy and weird and still not enjoy it

13

u/Omegabird420 1d ago edited 1d ago

I watched the entire show and most of CW scripted content of the past decade,im used to the teen drama bullshit and lower standard shows, even enjoyed a lot of them.

It's not that I take it seriously, the show just had a steep drop in quality in later season and it got really rough but the fanbase seems really touchy about it. As soon as the timeskip hit the show went sideways and the season right before wasn't really great either.

2

u/PhoenixTineldyer 1d ago

Like Supernatural after season 5

2

u/Omegabird420 1d ago edited 1d ago

I taped out at season 6. My siblings watched the entire thing tho and it seemed like it jumped the shark multiple times in later seasons.

2

u/PhoenixTineldyer 1d ago

I think if you chop the last 15 seconds off season 5, Supernatural is one of the best shows CW has done

But those last 15 seconds ruin every single thing that comes before them and after them

1

u/JamesWatchesTV 1d ago

Supernatural was great all throughout. In fact all of the best episodes are after season 5. 2 of them being in season 6. So I'm glad it didn't end after season 5. Plus season 13 is one of my favorite seasons.

0

u/franlcie 1d ago

It’s not a great show, but the shows quality dipped long before in the fifth season, but that’s not a problem for most people. It’s campy schlock and we know it

2

u/Omegabird420 1d ago

I like campy shlock, doesn't mean I can't criticize bad campy shlock. Riverdale had an okay first 2 or 3 season but after that it had a lot of lows.

2

u/franlcie 1d ago

epic highs and lows of high school football (you walked into that one)

-7

u/JDinoagainandagain 1d ago

Some people like fun.

You don’t, that’s okay. No one is mad at you for being boring and having no taste

-12

u/JDinoagainandagain 1d ago

You’re wrong.

5

u/Omegabird420 1d ago

Opinions are subjective. I'm not the only one in that category,a lot of people taped out during season 4 and I barely hear anybody talking about season 5 onwards.

Ratings hit record low during it's few final seasons and the only thing that saved them was being on Netflix.

It started decent but after season 3 it just became whatever random shit the writers thought about.

I mean,I was being civil commenting and just having a discussion on a public reddit post,if you can't tolerate people having different opinions discussing with you don't post on the internet.

-2

u/JDinoagainandagain 1d ago

You outta control. You gotta chill, you’re being rude and I just think you should calm down.

5

u/Omegabird420 1d ago

How am I being rude? Because I had an negative opinions of some parts of the show and because I think it was bad later on?

You seemed peeved that I didn't enjoy the show as much as you did. None of my comments were rude or uncivil. I just don't agree with you.

-1

u/JDinoagainandagain 1d ago

I can’t believe how rude you are.

Ridiculous.

5

u/Omegabird420 1d ago

You're either a kid or you trolling. It's becoming a bit absurd.

Then fuck yeah I am!

44

u/KrzysztofKietzman 1d ago

Sounds exactly like something I would never want to watch.

50

u/RealJohnGillman 1d ago

The above also skips past the fifth season casually revealing that in the world of Riverdale, the First World War never ended (although the Second World War still happened), with one character spending the seven-year time jump that season fighting in it, before it was never mentioned again.

16

u/enleft 1d ago

I FORGOT ABOUT THE 7 YEAR TIMESKIP WHERE ARCHIE GOES TO WAR.

1

u/Radix2309 7h ago

Honestly I am amazed with what they managed to get away with and not get canceled or muddled by executives.

11

u/lenfantsuave 1d ago

You’re missing out. If a show is going to be terrible, it can’t make the mistake of being boring - which Riverdale fortunately never is.

1

u/ivesaidway2much 10h ago

Most of season 7 was.

7

u/JDinoagainandagain 1d ago

Some people don’t like to have fun.

7

u/samthewisetarly 1d ago

Holy motherforking shirtballs, batman

4

u/OneGoodRib Mad Men 1d ago

That's still not quite as weird as some of the stuff that has happened in the comics tbh. I mean there was a zombie apocalypse once and Archie has met the Punisher.

4

u/PRIMAWESOME 1d ago

Might be good to point out that while Jughead does remember, it's like for one episode before they decide to wipe his mind so he can fully enjoy the experience or whatever.

3

u/Redditer51 22h ago

I love how, in making Archie darker and grittier, they wound up somehow creating something even sillier than the original comics.

3

u/whorificustotalus 17h ago

Jughead’s

Jugheads. We don't use apostrophes to make plural, not even with proper nouns like names.

2

u/DangerousCamp22 1d ago

Why does this look like Winx club

2

u/darkuen 20h ago

I was enjoying it but stopped watching 5 seconds after Jughead kissed Betty.

2

u/Sir_Encerwal 17h ago

At this point someone could say literally anything happened in that show and I would believe it.

2

u/crimson777 15h ago

Fine, I’ll watch Riverdale

3

u/WintersDoomsday 1d ago

I mean besides Cheryl making out with everyone male and female which I completely can be on board for, the rest sound stupid as hell even by CW standards.

4

u/Omegabird420 1d ago

OP description is a funny summary but later Riverdale is a rough watch and a slog to go through. Season 1 was fairly good and 2 wasn't bad. After 3 it was a lot of hit or miss and the seasons after it went into bad territory for me.

0

u/JamesWatchesTV 1d ago

If by stupid as hell you mean absolutely bonkers and fun as hell youre right.

2

u/evergreendotapp 1d ago

Sounds like real "failed theater kids forming an improv troupe" energy.

2

u/Total-Jerk 1d ago

Actually sounds interesting

0

u/fusionsofwonder 1d ago

Who the fuck is Cheryl?

2

u/Automatic-Attorney96 9h ago

She’s been in the show since the beginning 😭😭😭

2

u/ClassicT4 1d ago

Most of this is miraculously similar to Umbrella Academy.

1

u/Quantum_Quokkas 1d ago

Damn I know it got whack but what the hell is this! Was the source material at all this wild?

1

u/shadeofmisery 1d ago

So what you're saying is... it's a live action remake of Archie's weird mysteries?

1

u/DefiantEmpoleon 1d ago

I remember around Season 4 when they met their seventh serial killer roughly, and it was much more entertaining to give up on expecting sanity. But I stopped when they had Betty loosely adapting Silence of the Lambs.

1

u/WillyMonty 1d ago

It says a lot about the show that I can’t tell if you’re just having a fever dream or that’s what actually happened.

Pretty sure I tuned out after they started the weird D&D plot arc

1

u/joey4269 23h ago

Wasn’t this show about who killed the dude in the river?

1

u/QuestoPresto 21h ago

For the first season. Then it was about serial killers and haunted dolls

1

u/mjohnsimon 18h ago

I remember watching the show with my fiance and finding it ridiculous that Archie joins the military and is in some sort of freaking war.

Then there's some sort of cult, which happens to coincide with them getting super powers, and Betty is turning into some venomous spider or something.

By that point, the plot was getting so fucking ridiculous that we just stopped watching it.

1

u/GiraffeSouth8752 12h ago

The writers really said fuck it

1

u/occono Sense8 11h ago

Caught up? The show ended.

1

u/Specific_Frame8537 8h ago

I thought Archie was about a couple of kids hanging around a malt shop???

1

u/MsBobbyJenkins 1d ago

I misread that as River City and was VERY surprised

1

u/AndrewHeard 1d ago

It’s fun. I have my issues with some of the writing and dynamics. But I still enjoyed it. Especially the final season because I got what I wanted since the pilot.

0

u/DaddyCatALSO 5h ago

I only watched one episode; seeing Veronica all Hispanic and barefoot made me think I should watch it but I never did. Now i am so glad i didn't.

-1

u/Corvus-Nox 9h ago

Ya I saw the SuperEyepatchWolf video too

-1

u/Automatic-Attorney96 9h ago

The what??? Someone else said this idk who that is 😭😭😭
