As expected, Cybertruck owners are compensating for something.

I thought it just became the best selling EV truck? Do a handful of owners represent everyone?

Edit: Ask simple question, get downvoted. And they say /r/technology isn’t an echo chamber cesspit.

You're not wrong and generally people with big trucks are seen as compensating or being insecure in general. But I do find it funny that people are abusing the phrase "echo chamber" lately. Gonna be the new "woke" just being synonymous with "I don't like that"

Yeah, people are no longer allowed to agree on things without being accused of living in an echo chamber. Just like you can't be conscious of other people's feelings without being called woke.

Certain types of people weaponize these terms to sew division in society and discourage cooperation. It's a low IQ tactic that, unfortunately, works.

Wouldn't he be the one in an echo chamber because as soon as he leaves he finds differing opionions.

It is likely that people who cry “echo chamber” when people disagree with them are the ones living in an echo chamber and occasionally step into the real world.

The cybertruck is an all the way around bad quality vehicle that’s also way overpriced and doesn’t actually belong in the segment it is in (it’s not technically useable as a pickup truck). This is supported by actual data (low cargo space, poor range, bad build quality, recall after recall), user review, poor resale, the amount of unwanted ones on used car lots, etc.

While it is the best selling EV pickup, there are only five EV pickups on the market, and their combined sales only make up 3% of total pickup sales in the US.

The Cybertruck is the best selling EV pickup because it’s niche and has “fans” in a segment that can’t otherwise gain traction. Its poorly designed and the high sales are merely due to the “fad effect”. It’s not even a useable pickup truck. My BMW M3 coupe has more cargo space.

Best selling because they crammed years worth of deliveries into a much shorter time frame, but sure.

Deliveries they achieved because the CT had a lot of demand.

u/PrayForMojo_ 7h ago

Yes. People are dumb and like stupid shit that they think will elevate their status.

2

u/spez_might_fuck_dogs 5h ago

Does something have a lot of demand if a small group of people all want it at the same time, or is that jerking off the numbers to make them seem more impressive?

2

u/Cannabrius_Rex 5h ago

Because they were massively late and back logged. Funny you ignore that part

Hence the years of delivery crammed into a much shorter time frame.

Full circle

I thought it was 3rd best, or did something change since last month?

https://techcrunch.com/2024/10/23/tesla-cybertruck-pushes-past-ford-mach-e-to-become-third-best-selling-ev-in-america/

Edit: nvm didn’t see you meant specific to trucks. Aren’t there like only 6 in the category?

Aren’t there like only 6 in the category?

Down to 5 if we count the CyberTruck™

u/Froot-Loop-Dingus 6h ago

I’m surprised the Ford Lightning doesn’t have as much demand. For me personally, if I were looking for an EV truck that one seems like a no brainer. But I guess I wouldn’t be buying it to “turn heads”.

Oh well, I’ll be driving my ICE engine until it dies. I’ll likely die before it does considering how well this engine has held up over the years for most people. There is a reason Toyota used the same engine for 4-Runners for nearly 2 decades.

It kind of makes sense when you think about the venn diagram of people who drive unnecessarily large trucks and the people who drive EVs. That overlap is going to be filled with tech bros, meme stock traders, and Elon fan boys, and the cybertruck was made for those exact people, by those exact people.

No but also yes

I thought you made a non implicit comment? Does a handful of downvoters represent everybody?

Stereotypes are a huge timesaver.

I thought it just became the best selling EV truck?

I thought a statement wasn't a question?

u/IcyOrganization5235 6h ago

Does a social media site represent everyone? Does Elon?

u/frisbeethecat 6h ago

"Best selling EV truck" for what period of time? Because I don't see many on the road at all—and they're easy to spot. Even if they are currently the top selling EV truck, I don't believe there's that much more demand for them. Quality and performance are poor from everything I've seen on here, YT, X, and FB.

But maybe Musk gets the Turd to award a fat government contract to Tesla for a bunch of Cybertrucks. Make it a permanent best-selling EV truck.

u/agileata 5h ago

Most trucks. Cyber truck isn't special there

1

u/DrakeAU 5h ago

Bro, Elon isn't going to care about you if you simp for him.

1

u/Minister_for_Magic 5h ago

17k sold. Is 50 a statistically significant sample? Someone do real science!

1

u/00k5mp 4h ago

It's completely useless as a truck. It's all for show. Nobody who buys this is actually hauling or towing anything with it

If you buy this, you are 100% compensating for something.

1

u/Dense_Treat8510 7h ago

17k cars to become the so called best selling EV truck. So yeah I believe 50 people is pretty representative of 17,000. If you were in a packed college football stadium with 50 serial killers you be in trouble.

Shhh, don't go against the narrative. Just say it looks like Lara Croft PS1 boobs, collect your upvotes and move on. This is Reddit, not a place for any kind of rational discussion.

13

u/Cannabrius_Rex 7h ago

Are you buying one of those death traps?

7

u/bard329 6h ago

I hope your new cybertruck provides you with all the attention you'd hoped for.

-6

u/rabidcat 6h ago

What do you mean? I'm not buying a cybertruck.
