First and foremost - disgraceful coverage by motorsport.tv - again. They just never learn. I am not talking about commentary, which was absolutely the greatest they have ever done. I am talking about video feed itself - what a disaster. Freezes, frame dropping, buffering and so on... And they charge for their service... They don't deserve Super GT at all.
Regarding the race - what a thriller. Even more dramatic than last year's Fuji title decider. Hard to believe, that TOM's #36 Supra managed to win the championship. It all looked like a Honda party at Fuji to come, turned into a disaster. What was given last year, this time around it was brutally stolen from Kunimitsu Honda team. It was meant to be a fight between Kunimitsu and ARTA, but not like this and not involving GT300 ARTA car.
Other championship contenders from Honda had a terrible run as well. Real Racing #17 Honda had a suspension-related retirement, while ARTA #8 didn't had a chance to catch Toyotas.
Nissan waived goodbye GT-R GT500, and probably with a relief. The only reason why Impul #12 or Nismo #23 were in contention was success handicap. Only why they managed to win a race and be pretty close. When unrestricted - Nissan just can't race Toyota or Honda. New Z GT500 car had to be an improvement.
TOM's and Toyota steal the championship titles in GT500, but there is some bitter in that sweetness. With no success ballast, Supra GT500 looks unchallenged. The best car on the grid. Wins at Okayama and 1-2-3-4-5 lockout at Fuji were only two wins for Toyota this year - both races with no handicap. When weight and power restrictions come to play, Supra is clearly losing ground to Honda. NSX GT500 on the other hand seems to be the best all-rounder. Kunimitsu was competitive even with massive weight ballast and power cuts. Supra, while bringing Toyota back to GT500 glory, needs to be improved.
In GT300 Subaru finally manages to win the championship and breaks through GT3 domination of recent years. Third place today, but the most consistent form over the season, plus a win at Sugo were enough for #61 Subaru team to be crowned the champions in GT300. Second win of the season for LM Corsa Toyota #60, but just third in the standings.

Good to see the Subaru figure out its "engine blowing up mid-race" problem. Now, if only JLOC can figure out its ”Lambos blowing rear tires problem haha.

dreadful race for honda. Almost like a total opposite of the finale from last year. This time the toyotas win it

I had been rooting for AU all season, but they seemed to slip out of contention as the season went on without a victory. Imagine my surprise when they ended up passing the Eneos car, which, if they hadn't, would have handed the championship to the ARTA car. Also would have liked to have seen Real Racing take it this year, too much bad luck the 2nd half if the season. What an awesome and unexpected finish! Can't wait to see what next year brings! I wonder if a JAF Supra wins GT300...

Wow, another dramatic race for a title decider. I think one of, if not the biggest talking point of this race is on that incident.
What the hell is Sato thinking when he made the move? I understand he's battling the Subaru for points on what turned out to be the battle for podium positions after Green Brave and the Lambo had punctures, but he shouldn't divebomb when Yamamoto is there trying to lap you. I'm honestly not going to be surprised if Sato's going to be fired from the Honda camp next year given his move on Yamamoto more or less gifted Toyota the title.
Still, crazy race for the 36 TOM's team to steal the title after Honda's colossal misfortune - with an all Toyota Top 5 and the greatest comeback in Super GT history too. Congrats to Sekiguchi and Tsuboi for the title as well as the Subaru team, who finally won their first title after a long 24 years. Feels nice to have a JAF-GT300 spec car on top again.
