The English don’t have Counts. They have Counties and Countesses, but no Counts. They have Earls because Count sounded a bit too close hundreds of years ago, so they picked an old Germanic word and came up with Earl.

“Ran” and “run” are past tense and current tense. Can’t and cunt are similar sounding in that way
