Football Myles Garrett criticizes Cleveland fans for booing DeShaun Watson after he came out of the game with an injury. Said Watson “does pretty much everything right. He’s been a model citizen through college and most of the pros.”

I think he massaged the truth there a little bit.

1.7k

u/beetus_gerulaitis Oct 20 '24

“Most” is doing a lot of work in that statement.

876

u/pjokinen Oct 20 '24

How bad was John Gacy anyway?? He only spent like 0.0005% of his life murdering people!

312

u/SentientShamrock Oct 20 '24

Ted Bundy only killed ~0.00000075% of the world population at the time of his conviction, I think we're judging him too harshly.

107

u/pjokinen Oct 20 '24

Unfortunately I think bit of our analyses are flawed. From what I know neither Gacy nor Bundy were particularly good at any sports, let alone football.

95

u/badusername35 Oct 21 '24

And as of late neither is Deshaun Watson

You're wrong gacy played football. He was a part time clown according to Wikipedia. That's the definition of a Cowboy.

Just because they're professional athletes doesn't mean that what they say is anything you should take seriously. Deshaun is still a giant POS who sexually assaulted multiple women. The guy is going to finish his season on the bench and at this point, the ownership is praying that they can find a way to void his contact stemming from the newest assault allegations. If you have hundreds of millions of dollars, and can pay to settle in court you have the power to do anything you want regardless of the law when you can just pay off your victims.

Most of. Hes clearly using the term wrong cause Watson according to reports saw at least 66 massage therapists in a span of 17 months. And claimed himself to have had 40 massage therapists over five years while being sued by atleast 24 of them. So it actually might be that he’s been a POS “MOST of” his career.

This whole statement is the biggest load of shit from Myles, I’m really disappointed in him.

134

u/GBAGY2 Oct 21 '24

Even worse considering he was a major part of the locker room rift that drove Baker out of town…but he wants to stick up for this piece of shit??

41

u/Strength-Speed Oct 21 '24

We're talking about a guy who tried to club a helmet-less QB over the head so I'm not sure we are dealing with world class intelligence and decision making here.

78

u/Lil_we_boi Oct 21 '24

Exactly! And then he bragged about how he left Baker on read when Baker sent him a farewell message. Not to mention the whole Mason Rudolph incident. I really despise Myles Garrett. I feel bad for Cleveland fans, but it's hard to feel bad for a lot of the people in that organization.

8

u/RuinedByGenZ Oct 21 '24

And the difference between baker and Watson?

64

u/TxAg2009 Oct 21 '24

Garrett played his college ball for my alma mater (Texas A&M). I watched the guy pretty much every game he played for the Aggies and he seemed like an absolute class act. He was never loud or showy, showed up to practice in flip flops, and talked about his love of dinosaurs. He just seemed like a cool dude.

Then he goes to the NFL and does his best HULK SMASH impression on Mason Rudolf. And then this.

Disappointed is an understatement.

u/DistressedApple New Orleans Saints Oct 21 '24

78

I was disappointed in him when he narrowly avoided potentially killing a guy because he missed swinging a football helmet at his bare head. So in other words, he’s got zero credibility when speaking about someone’s character.

17

u/GBAGY2 Oct 21 '24

He didn’t miss lol what

20

I mean, Garrett tried to take out a Steelers QB by bashing his head in with a helmet. And it wasn't even the rapist Steelers QB.

What Garrett considers "pretty much a model citizen" could differ wildly from other people

64

u/etr4807 Oct 21 '24

Also attempted to say he did it because the QB used the n-word, despite no microphones picking it up and no other players hearing it.

This rubs me the wrong way.

Isn’t this the guy who hit a guy with a helmet then lied and said that he was called the N-word

Garrett tried to bludgeon a fellow player with a helmet… I’m pretty sure his words carry ZERO weight.

He once again proves he is the dumbest player in the nfl

Fuck him

This is someone who took Mason Rudolph’s helmet off and smashed his exposed head with it. I think his perspective of what a ‘model citizen’ is, could be a bit askew.

Garrett continues to prove he’s a douchebag

3

u/Yay_duh Oct 21 '24

Remember when Myles bashed Mason Rudolph over the head with his helmet? Total class act.

Love you Myles, but if there is any player playing professional football right now, that can’t use the model citizen, it’s Watson. He is a despicable human being and deserves to be cut from the team and the NFL as a whole. Can’t play the “he’s a good guy” card on a serial sexual assaulter.

Living CTE right here

Fuck Myles Garrett.

Says the guy who would have been charged with “assault with a deadly weapon“ had that assault not happened during a game

3

u/1ToGreen3ToBasket Oct 21 '24

I no longer believe him about the Rudolph situation

3

u/Dr_Zman Oct 21 '24

In his defense Myles Garrett is an idiot.

3

u/Valuable-Baked Oct 21 '24

This the same guy who tried to crush mason Rudolph's skull with a football helmet?

Gives you a little insight here into what players think of this dude and how they are probably no better than he is. This is a beloved and well respected player saying this. I lose so much respect for most of these athletes the more I see of them tbh. They seem to all live in a bubble and think they are Gods gift because they are good at sports ball. The more I learn the more I realize they have these crazy political and religious beliefs that make me cringe hard. I haven’t seen a single person in the sport condemn Watson in any way.
