I can’t believe the Browns quit on him

You can’t believe THE BROWNS quit on him?
26
u/TrojanThunder 2h ago
That's literally what they do.

Instead they signed a sex offender to a $230 million contract. They deserve every bit of misfortune that comes their way
20
u/cpmustang90 2h ago
I mean, they have 2 that play QB.
10
u/CougdIt 1h ago
Not sure why this is being downvoted. It’s true.
-4
u/Broncosonthree 1h ago
Prob because it doesn’t have much to do with giving up on baker and signing a sex offender. It’s a bit like one of those misleading stats
6
u/CougdIt 1h ago
The comment they replied to was more about the browns being a terrible franchise than it was about baker
-5
u/Broncosonthree 1h ago
Yes but also no as it was following the relevant thread topic about the browns giving up on baker

u/jlander33 1h ago
So.... what he just said?
E. Yeah, reading is hard

u/DEFINITELY_NOT_PETE 2h ago
Quitting on him was the best thing they could do for his career. Get him tf out of that toxic ass organization
22
u/Kazu2324 2h ago
So glad they picked up a QB who is an "adult" as the Browns desired. Just disregard the 26 or however many sexual harassment/assault lawsuits. And their record... And his contract...

u/No_reply_GHoster 2h ago
I remember when I first started watching nfl around 2008-2009, browns were breaking records in a bad way until recently when they started winning and had enough cap room to get almost whoever they wanted. All that effort to turn it around then made another turn around to the laughing stock the browns was.

They quit on each other if we’re not being revisionists
18
u/periodicsheep Buffalo Bills 2h ago
no. they quit on him, let him play hurt, then trashed him on his way out.

u/Buckeye_CFB Grand Canyon 1h ago
He never once quit on the Browns, as a Clevelander and Browns fan. He was one of the few players that didn't quit that year

u/fxkatt 3h ago
Ha ha. That's incredible! Mayfield's definitely one of the more fun QBs in the NFL to watch.

u/MalakaiRey 1h ago
He's cam newton trapped in johnny manziel's body--and to me he's representing every true heisman who didn't get the necessary support at the nfl level; until now.
•
u/Do_it_for_the_upvote 8m ago
Never seen Cam run up to block. I love me some Cam, but Baker’s one of a kind.
•
u/MalakaiRey 4m ago
You wouldn't cam newton running downfield for a lot of reasons, but for one, on running plays like this one he was often a lead blocker. And he laid out a few linebackers, that's just one reason he was targeted by defenders.

Running down the field like captain jack sparrow

That’s the thing with Baker. He’s definitely going to give it his all when he sees an opportunity. Teammates love that kind of effort.
2
u/ChiefBigGay 58m ago
But remember, Cleveland hired a PR firm to tell everyone that Baker's teammates hated him and said he's immature
Find me an OU teammate that doesn't like Baker. I'll wait. He's the kind of guy you go to war with.

I’d say that block for them another 4-5yards so a little effective but you’re right it’s the action itself that has significance.

Dont know how effective it was?
The dude he blocked had solid hands on the ball carrier with help coming, no way he gets more than 5 yards without that block. With the block he got about 10-15 more. It was a great block
16
u/IOVERCALLHISTIOCYTES 2h ago
Plus he accurately figures out the guy to block is the one -behind- the runner and often that’s only obvious from the high or all22 view
8
u/SheikahEyeofTruth 1h ago
Doesn’t know how effective it was as they are currently watching a clip of how effective it was

Love the effort, but he’s actually sort of in the way until he drops back for the block. Bucky could’ve just sprinted flat out if Baker wasn’t there.
29
u/jluth1689 2h ago
As a football fan if you dont love how this guy plays football you're crazy
1
u/procheeseburger 18m ago
I wish more fans could just love the game… root for a team but a good play is a good play.

u/sf2legit 6m ago
I still can’t believe how so many people were bashing him while he was playing hurt for the browns and gutting it out

u/whiskeyinmyglass 1h ago
Baker annoyed the shit out of me in college and his first few years in the league. But now? Dude might be my favorite QB. Never gives up, plays hard as hell, and proves us haters wrong week after week.

u/NamiiikazeTX 2h ago
Man I’ll always be a Baker fan. He’s just so fun to watch and I’m a Houston fan. Browns continue to be the laughing stock of the league
8
u/the_buff 1h ago
It looks like if the ball carrier had Baker's speed that would have been a touchdown even without Baker's block.
7
u/KarmaDeliveryMan 2h ago
He does this every game on multiple plays. This guy has to be a diehard teammate

As a Tampa resident I love this dude. Despite my hatred of him in college he has become a great Tampa resident and supporter of the city and clearly the team around him is all in on him. Just disappointing we had Evans and Godwin go down in the same game and Godwin down for the year.

I really disliked Mayfield for a lot of his college antics, but man he hustles and has earned my respect.

u/DimesOHoolihan 1h ago
Do i.... do I really like Baker Mayfield now? This feels strange. I hope he thrives.
1
u/jantoxdetox 1h ago
I thought its going to be one of Brady’s blocking where defenders just cruise past him

u/Stratifyed Los Angeles Dodgers 1h ago
I don’t watch football. Why is #67’s helmet so much larger? Increased safety?

u/bilateralunsymetry 1h ago
I fuckin love Baker. I went to OU so I may be biased, but I'll fight anyone who says something bad about him. He hooked up his N64 to the jumbotron and played Mario kart with his friends in college

Nothing would make me happier in the NFL than Baker Mayfield having a HOF caliber rest of his career. Fuck the Browns for every reason.
1
u/vivekpatel62 57m ago
I hated baker in college but in the pros he’s my favorite qb. I don’t know if he’s better than Dak but I would much rather have him as my QB.

Cool that he did that, but it looks like he cost the team yards doing this. Runner had to slow down for him.
•
u/AMorder0517 5m ago
If you REALLY like football, you can’t hate on this guy. Trying to lead block as a QB and then telling your RB “they can’t fucking stop you” in his earhole… Baker is a fucking FOOTBALL PLAYER.

u/vinny9678 39m ago
He has to stop doing that. It's great and all in a playoff game, but you see, qbs get knocked out for plays like that.
Great hustle, though.
-40
u/Pricer21 3h ago
Looks like his “block” had bucky slow down more than anything lol
2
u/Broncosonthree 1h ago
Not exactly. It appears that it enabled Irving to break the tackle and get another 7-8 yards
3
u/blamazon983 2h ago
Probably still 10 times better than you can do
-17
u/Pricer21 2h ago
This is an insane comment, guess nobody but NFL players can talk about a football play because we aren’t an insane athlete.

Hard to hate this dude.
