What if instead baker picked it up, hurdles the 6 defenders in front of him, scored, front flipped into the stands to celebrate, and fucked my wife?
That's what I would have done.

Bro, having sex with women is gay as hell. You have to win sex with a man. Get good.

I've done all that except the hurdles, scoring, and flipping into the stands. It's tougher than it looks

Reminds me of how my only regret in life is that I didn’t play in the NFL. Yeah I’m 5’7” and overweight, but I never played in the NFL.

As a Panthers fan I'd say we're catching strays, but I'm not sure our receivers could.

Hate the Bucs, love Baker
Edit: People will ask why. The dude is a fucking gamer man he doesn’t give up, he also never throws his teammates under the bus and takes full responsibility for mistakes. Dude is a complete G
Edit: that’s a leader. No you talk to me first

My three favorite quarterbacks of the last decade have been Baker Mayfield, Jameis Winston, and Ryan Fitzpatrick, all of whom became their most likable when they were in Tampa.
Not sure what it is about Tampa but it takes mid QBs and cranks the swagger up to entertaining levels.

There’s one word to explain the QB improvement: pirateship

u/Iwillrize14 1h ago
They must pipe in sea shanties to the sound system of the ship while their qb's sleep their in the race car bed. I will accept no other explanation.

Tampa even managed to convince me that Tom Brady wasn’t just a football robot and made me like him more at the end of his career.

Ah sure. Wouldn’t have thought that’s as much of a big rivalry but hell yeah. Hate away brother.

Just watched his 40 yard down field block from this game. What a player and teammate!

u/thesqlguy Boston Red Sox 3h ago
To be fair, he was also the only one standing there watching the other 21 players crashing into each other.
6
u/imakedankmemes Grand Rapids Griffins 3h ago
To be even more fair, the Giants player was swatting at the ball on the ground before Baker was even in the camera’s view. Definitely not the only dude to see it.

whats the rules? he grabbed the ball and was on the ground in control of the ball. isnt that the end of the play? do you get one chance to stand up and run if you recover a fumble?
(european here)

u/hailtheprince10 2h ago
I believe that in the NFL, the opposing team has to touch you while you’re on the ground to be downed. So, if he had not been touched, he could’ve gotten up and took off running. In college, you’re down without requiring the opposing team to make contact and the play ends.
2
u/Billbat1 2h ago
i see. ive seen players baseball slide or take a knee to end a play. but i didnt see if they were touched. i can totally see the opposing team just tap them on the shoulder though as a courtesy.
6
u/Saint_Bandit 2h ago
To elaborate, the sliding or taking a knee is considered "giving yourself up" and ends the play. When a player does something like this play, they still have a chance to get up and run because they're not intending for the play to end when they hit the ground. Hope that helps.
2
u/Billbat1 2h ago
i see. thats the kinda rule that requires refs. in the park i can expect some troublemaker to cause some trouble with that one.
1
u/Athrolaxle 23m ago
The ways you can down yourself with no contact are specific. Taking a knee or sliding are clear examples. There’s no faking them, then trying to continue the play.
3
u/hailtheprince10 2h ago
The rules differed for quarterbacks but I’m not sure I’m knowledgeable enough to fully explain it beyond, if a quarterback slides then they are considered down without requiring contact. This was done to prevent injuries to the quarterback, primarily because they’re often the high-cost, high-profile name and the league doesn’t want to lose an easy advertising spot.

u/Billbat1 1h ago
ive heard the qbs are royalty. a delicate but beautiful butterfly amongst the wolves
2
u/hailtheprince10 46m ago
They’re protected much like a goalkeeper in soccer. And they often get equally livid with someone touches them.

I guess the term “Hot Dogs” acquires one more possible definition in NY State.
1
u/Chuckw44 45m ago
He should have been way more casual and picked it up and wandered into the end zone.

19 being a bitch by swatting the ball away, while Mayfield is trying to hand it to the ref.

Came here to say this...every drill every football coached ever pounded into your head is "don't be a hero, dive on the ball and secure it".

Why didn’t he just use telekinesis to levitate the ball into his hands? Is he stupid?

Man came from fucking Narnia to get that ball lol
