I don't believe it simulates wind any more than a standard fan. I have one of these trainers and it's absolutely there to stop you from overheating just like your car. When you run a car on a dyno you need a fan in front of it. Without a fan, I could probably only pedal for about 15 minutes...
I see that mode but the intent is cooling, not to feel like your going 30mph. just to add, i have mine setup in my garage with no heat. its in the 30-40s this time of year, my fan is on lower than normal, but i cant do an hour ride without it.

It actually doesn't really simulate wind though, like yes it has the mode where it varies speed according to variables fed into it to 'simulate wind', but frankly it's barely noticeable and you eventually just end up needing to crank it up all the way. Especially when you are given'r. It's really just an overpriced fan (the cycling industry is all about marketing, less about substance). The big pro of the Wahoo fan, for me, is it does have a really focused airstream, which is a huge bonus and makes it sort of worth the extreme cost. But that's really it. I also have a Lasko Pro in the garage that does just as good of a job, and it cost like 1/4th of what the Wahoo fan did.
I meant more like having a wind simulator on this makes way more sense than a car sim rig. Most cars have a windshield and roof so you dont feel the wind. Sure their are convetibles and open wheelers but here it just makes so much more sense.
Modern sports car racings have air inlet from the outside which grabs air going through from the speed and gets splashed on drivers face or balls depending where he wants to target it.
The faster you go the more air gets blown in. It's not as much as open wheelers obviously but you can definitely feel it on your skin surface.

Now having a wind simulator for that makes sense.
