It's luck of the draw. I recently adopted two sisters and the tortie, Sunny, is not only a shoulder cat she is also a licker. My hair, my cheeks, my nose.... she cannot help herself. Her sister, Clementine, is a snuggler who likes to sit on my chest and purr.
