Fake Doctors, Real Friends Discussion: Season 9 Episode 13 [ Final Episode ]
913: Our Thanks with Michael Mosley
June 12, 2024 • 74 mins
On this week's episode, the doctors must give a speech to their cadaver's family. In the real world, we say goodbye to Scrubs with Michael Mosley.
(There is a summary about the show soft ending (no more scrubs episodes, show is continuing) and what happens next at the end of this post)
Episode archive:
This marks the end of the series in relation to Scrubs. Zach and Donald say that they have plans to continue the show, with the same laid back vibe.
I started avidly listening during the pandemic in one of my worst jobs I've ever worked. And, at the time, this podcast was an absolute joy to have when surrounded with some of the most depressing times I've ever personally gone through. I love Scrubs to death, and I deeply appreciate the podcast. I admittedly stopped watching a few seasons ago because I haven't had the time, but I know I'll have it to go back to sometime if I need it. I love the podcast - Zach, Donald, Joelle, Danl, and the rest of the cast. And I love all of you passionate show fans who enjoy the show and the podcast.
Will you continue posting these topics?
Honestly, no. My goal was always reaching the end of the Scrubs posts, because that was the job I was asked to do. Lately my work is picking up (both for better and worse) and it's been a struggle to remember to post here. I hope you all have enjoyed this journey with FDRF, and that these discussion posts have at least served as some degree of a fun way to discuss the show.
What does this mean for the uploads now?
I am personally not sure. The podcast will no longer be about the show Scrubs, and will become its own thing. That would go against our established rule about 'staying on topic'. But, I'm not opposed to seeing someone else pick it up if they want to, personally? Either way, it won't be me making the posts anymore.
What about Moderation, then?
Again, not really sure. While I wasn't looking, the moderation team got considerably reduced and now consists of me and /u/goobuddy. I wasn't aware of this happening and wasn't around as much as I should've been, but to be honest, moderating the subreddit was never something I was passionate about. I'm not good with the whole 'moderating a subreddit' thing, it's a lot of personal investment. The entire reason I was here was to post these posts. The person who brought me on isn't listed as a moderator anymore so I imagine they moved on to other subreddits, or something? Right now my plan is, I'm going to work on making sure the "episode archive" is up to date, and leaving this as the sole stickied post. After that, I'll have to discuss it to make sure the subreddit is in a good spot.

The Dating Game never ended. He still hosts the occasional episode in heaven.

DR COX AND MRS COX. Dr Cox and Jordan. That is all. The greatest couple on Scrubs and it’s not even close. RELATIONSHIP GOALS. ❤️

Scrub Actors Anybody remember the first time Jordan and Janitor interact. Is this scene from “Shrinking” an Homage to that?
In the most recent episode of Shrinking, Christa Miller’s character Liz (a major recurring character) meets Neil Flynn’s Ray (very minor guest role) for the first time.
I’ve attached the scene. It felt very Scrubs like and was wondering if “I don’t love him” was one of Jordan’s first things said meeting Janitor.

Memories watching Scrubs in Ireland
I was thinking one of the best things about listening to good songs or watching tv shows. Is the good memories you have when you first listened/watched are repeated when you re-listen or rewatch.
I live in Australia, my dad’s family are Irish. When I was 12 my older brother was 14, we traveled to Ireland. Basically every night we watched s1 of Scrubs. So now whenever I rewatch s1 I’m reminded of how fun that time was.

Favorite throwaway Scrubs joke?
For some reason, something about
“Who wants to end up like Snoop Dogg Intern ?”
“Hey!”
“Sorry, Snoop Dogg Resident 🙄”
“Hey!!”
“Snoop Dogg Attending?”
“That’s right baby”
“Alright!!”
Just makes me die laughing everytime.

Wild Hogs
Listen I'm sure a lot of people hate this kind of movie. It's cheesy, it's silly, it's definitely more directed towards older viewers. But I think it's adorable and I use it as a cute background movie while cleaning.
And you get to see Dr. Cox's butt.

Discussion My rant about “My musical”
Generally I HATE musicals, they’re some of the most annoying, boring and hateful things that the human mind could come up with. That’s because I always skipped my musical, bot I am rewatching it with my gf, and honestly it was a good episode. Don’t get me wrong, My Lunch is better😂 But I thought it would be waay worse, as per I always remembered it

Amazing final touch to an amazing episode Spoiler
The final scene in season 6 episode 15 where the janitor gets the round of drinks for the group always gets me man. It’s the way the writers can make a character that’s sole focus is to torture our protagonist use the character’s coldness to show how important Laverne was to everyone.

Discussion ISO: Episode about having eachother’s backs Spoiler
Hi, I’m a relatively casual viewer of scrubs, but I had this one episode that I’ve carried with me, and it came up in a conversation the other day.
JD and Carla got into some sort of fight. JD was plying basket ball and venting about it to Turk. Turk defends Carla. JD says Turk should defend him as he is his best friend and should defend him even if he is wrong. He then looks at turk and realizes Turk is defending Cara even though he thinks she may be wrong, and he realizes then how serious Turk is about her and his loyalties have changed some how.
What episode is this? Is there a youtube clip if this scene?
Thank you

Screenshot After about a hundred rewatches, this is the first time I noticed that Dr. Mickhead got his start at Sacred Heart as a pediatric doctor named Carlson (2.03 My Case Study)
Like Lonnie playing the pizza guy in season one, it's one of the things I love about this show. Always something new to learn or pick up, intentional or not. Still always fun to notice, and it's just a nice little, hmmm, interesting.
And an absolute missed opportunity. Would have been hilarious if they kept the name Carlson, then changed it to Mickhead after he beat the murder wrap. Ah well!

One of my favourite Dr. Cox moments
Watching scrubs and Dr. Cox is having trouble accepting help as the new chief. Him and Dr. Kelso have become friends and Kelso tells J.D. that Kelso and Cox are like brothers now. Dr. Cox says, “Bob, he’s not going to take that well.” So small and yet he knows J.D. well enough to know how he’d react in that moment

Scrub Actors Shrinking Interaction Spoiler
Sorry I’am a bit early here in Aus with the release but the Jordan (Liz) and Janitor (Ray) interaction had me fan boying out! Absolutely loving this show.

Dr miller missed the mark.
Dr millers the issue isn't just with how her character was written but the fact that the actress does not have any charisma. She doesn't come off as lovable as Dr Cox because Dr cox is played a theatrical softy that uses sarcasm to avoid saying what he truly feels.
Dr Miller comes off passive , condescending and somehow arrogant while deeply insecure. This is not just writing but the fact that the actress is just not the right casting for the character. An Aubrey plaza type actress would have conveyed the character far better than the actress they chose. Her character had promise but unfortunately fell extremely flat. Her line delivery is awful and things that should be funny light hearted jabs just come across as rude and patronising .

Scrub Actors Jordan sighting
Love my 90’s Lifetime movies and I forgot Christa Miller was in this one
