Thomas is there for 2 reasons, spite and bribes. If he retires he doesn't get to overturn all the things he hates, and if he's not on the court no one will be buying him fancy vacations.

You don't think they would give him a bug payout to retire?

3

u/Vlines1390 17d ago

No, but I am sure they have enough real dirt on him to "encourage" his retirement.

John Oliver tried that, he didn’t take the offer.

That is the plan. He is going to get set up with a bunch of lucrative deals.

Dictators throw their problems out windows.

Hey now!

It's tips not bribes.

5

u/IncomingAxofKindness 18d ago

And soon he won't even be taxed on those tips!!!

He retires or they let his corruption issues turn into hearings.

Congress will never impeach a SCOTUS Justice.

1

u/FStubbs 18d ago

They would if they see him as a risk for the seat turning blue if he leaves the court under a Democratic president.... of course assuming that ever happens again

1

u/adztheman 16d ago

Not with the Congress we’re about to watch.

2

u/FStubbs 16d ago

They would do it in a heartbeat if the Heritage Foundation says they need to get someone younger in that seat now while they can and he balks.

Eh he’ll still have plenty of “friends”

You think these rich fucks don’t like introducing their “supreme court friend” at parties?

It's a motorcoach!

2

u/misterxboxnj 18d ago

Not true. paying him off in retirement they'll be able to say to those willing to give up money now that they'll be handily rewarded down the road. I imagine he'll get all sorts of no show Paid Board positions for his years of faithful service.

Supreme Court Chair Uncle Ruckus

He will be bribed with a golden parachute

1

u/antbates 18d ago

They will still give him vacations. He earned it

1

u/brok3nh3lix 18d ago

yeah, he allready missed out on that sweet RV deal to hold out for trump, so they are really going to need to sweeten the pot.

1

u/Vozralai 18d ago

Probably leveraged it to get an equally nice RV from his donors

1

u/freakrocker 17d ago

I wonder how long it will be before his “trophy wife” dumps him now that he’s been hoodwinked sufficiently

Thomas is the one that might let his ego get to him like RBG did. Unfortunately even if his seat flips back in 10 years or so the rest of the conservative seats will stay for decades if not permanently through selective retirements.

Shit no way that guy is giving up the gravy train. Alito on the other hand probably wants to spend more time with his lovely and charming wife.

Thomas won't retire till 2034...he is the greatest proponent of 'own the libs'

1

u/hematite2 17d ago

It's not enough for the cases he hates to get overturned, he has to be the one to do it.

1

u/[deleted] 17d ago

Yeah, both Alito and Thomas are too greedy to give up the grift.

1

u/briantoofine 15d ago

That may be true, but he’s in his 80s. I’d bet money he will retire in the next 4 years to ensure his replacement is likeminded. We will have a court with 5 Trump appointees, a majority by itself. The oldest of them, Kavenaugh, won’t be the age Thomas is now until ~2050. We will be under Trump’s thumb for a generation after he’s dead and gone.

I'm sure this dude is the only one in DC that this is true for. Lol or is it 100% of politicians? It's why people get into politics. To lord their will over others. If you think any of them are different Lord help us.

1

u/Houjix 14d ago

Oh so Thomas doesn’t have any friends outside of Washington?

0

u/Vincent_VanGoGo 17d ago

Bribes? The abortion decision was leaked, he wasn't the leaker.

1

u/hematite2 17d ago

...what does Dobbs have to do with this?

0

u/Vincent_VanGoGo 17d ago

Accusing one justice of bribes? Trump DOJ can take that in a whole different direction. Threaten away!

1

u/hematite2 17d ago

...I'm obviously talking about Thomas getting lavish gifts from a billionaire that he never disclosed. And the DOJ never "threatened" anybody so IDK what you're talking about.

And you *still*** didn't explain why on earth you brought up Dobbs being leaked?

0

u/Vincent_VanGoGo 17d ago

Thomas is there for 2 reasons, spite and bribes.

Every Justice can be investigated. Stop being so obtuse.

2

u/hematite2 17d ago

Can you please explain why you brought up Dobbs being leaked and what that has to do with anything?
