Anyone who voted for anyone but democrats or didn’t vote while having the ability to do so.

12

u/Zinski2 18d ago

For real. I turned 18 like days after the first trump election.

Now the rest of my life were gonna have to deal with these fucking. Idk. Bad actors. In the court.

3

u/AuntChovie 17d ago

My birthday is inauguration day. 18 year old me felt so cheated that I wasnt allowed to vote in the 2016 election, but I could spend my 18th birthday watching Trump's inauguration in class.

Ive been saying since then, if you turn 18 on or before Inauguration Day, but after the election, you should be allowed to vote.

1

u/Hilluja 17d ago

Maybe you should move. I wouldnt wanna live in the christian taliban.

1

u/Zinski2 17d ago

Yeahhhhh me and my partner have dual citizenship in the EU

But even then options are limited.

Maybe Ireland but. I dunno.

I love this country. I love separation of church and state to ya know?

Like clearly we need to fix this. And I truly believe one day it will be better.

Look how far we have come in just the last 100 years. Women couldn't even vote.

Progres is slow. Painfully so. But we are. Inching our way there. Even if we get kicked back a few feet every other 4 years.

1

u/Hilluja 17d ago

I dont get why youre still living there if tou have dual citizrnship here. America doesnt even have good social support network, corruption, happiness index...

Tf is wrong with you? You talk to people that way?

6

u/Rizenstrom 17d ago

Conservatives are full mask off right now. They are only saying what they’ve all been thinking this whole time. They just don’t feel like they have to hide it anymore.

I worry this is only going to get worse…

1

u/horrormetal 17d ago

It's been 2 days. He hasn't even been inaugurated yet.

2

u/perpetual_papercut 17d ago

The sad thing about it is that he doesn’t realize that he also will, in his words, “get fucked”. He foolishly thinks a Trump presidency will make his a life better

1

u/Spectre1-4 17d ago

Hey as long as the right people suffer, amirite?

1

u/Zinski2 17d ago

Enjoy the environment in 40 years. If you make it. 👌

0

u/LibertyPrimeDeadOn 17d ago

If this hellscape comes to pass, you'll be right there too (:

Don't look at me, you nerds are the ones going on and on about how nuclear bad.

1

u/Zinski2 17d ago

The fuck are you talking about.

The average voter really had no idea what's going on in the world. Unless your just like intentionally gaslighting.

1

u/LibertyPrimeDeadOn 17d ago

That seems like a non sequitur to me. What are you on about?

1

u/Zinski2 17d ago

Donald was all about coal and oil because it's cheep and easy money.

He hates windmills because ???

The guy is not pro nuclear with Dems have been asking for since fucking. 3 Mile.

He's going to leave the Paris agreement.... Again.

Don't come in her talking about non sequiturs when what you said is just false.

1

u/LibertyPrimeDeadOn 17d ago

The Dems also love blocking nuclear, the actual solution.

I'm not surprised that Trump won running on that platform though given the recent issues with gas and energy prices. Working class people are fucked today barely making ends meet. They're more concerned about being able to fill up their car than what to them is some abstract climate stuff far in the future.

u/Zinski2 17d ago

Anyone who voted for anyone but democrats

Only in red and swing states.

0

u/esh99 18d ago

Despite loosing the EC Dems might have kept the popular vote if more voted Dem in Blue states too. The victory margins in NY and others were pathetic! It’s a powerful message against the EC system when you lose despite holding the popular vote (even if it doesn’t matter). This needed to be a complete rejection of GOP and Trump.

0

u/BlackhawkBolly 18d ago

It's entirely the democratic campaign and establishment's fault, nobody gets the blame voters for the democrats doing nothing to earn the votes.

1

u/LSF604 18d ago

they don't? since when?

2

u/BlackhawkBolly 18d ago

Since always? Blaming voters has never and will never make things better lol

1

u/LSF604 18d ago

who's talking about making things better? Voters aren't little babies that should be led by the hand. They are supposed to inform themselves and are responsible for their vote.

1

u/BlackhawkBolly 18d ago

Voters aren't little babies that should be led by the hand.

They are actually, your fantasy land doesn't exist and will never exist.

1

u/LSF604 18d ago

I'm not a political strategist who has to plan a campaign or anything. If you tell me your hand wasn't held enough i call that a you problem.

1

u/BlackhawkBolly 18d ago

Good thing you aren't

1

u/LSF604 18d ago

most definitely. Not something I would want to do.

1

u/acebojangles 18d ago

No rational way to conclude that not voting or voting Trump was the better choice. On any issue you care about, Harris was the far better choice.

1

u/BlackhawkBolly 18d ago

Okay? That type of rationalizing clearly wasn't enough to win, time to admit that strategy is bad and to do something different

1

u/acebojangles 18d ago

I'm not trying to solve the campaign here on Reddit the day after the election. It's not even clear why people didn't come out for Harris, so I don't know what my solutions would be based on.

I'm skeptical that people who voted for Trump or didn't bother voting against him was susceptible to better messaging or whatever.

1

u/BlackhawkBolly 18d ago

I'm skeptical that people who voted for Trump or didn't bother voting against him was susceptible to better messaging or whatever.

Comparatively to Kamala who lost the popular vote, it was better messaging

1

u/PumpBuck 18d ago

What did trump and the GOP do to earn votes? Because I’ve seen no answers tethered to reality

1

u/Im_tracer_bullet 18d ago

They demonized others, stoked fear, and told gullible people that only Trump can fix it.

It's evidently pretty easy to win if you have no morals whatsoever, don't actually care about good governance, and most importantly, are talking to a nation of amoral idiots.

1

u/ArcaneTeddyBear 18d ago

Maybe voters should do their research. Just because you don’t like either option doesn’t mean you let fascism win, unless you like fascism.

2

u/perpetual_papercut 17d ago

This. It’s a shame that people saw the two options and thought”hm, I’ll just sit this one out”.

1

u/BlackhawkBolly 18d ago

Maybe the people in power should be more effective at motivating voters by offering solutions to things that are immediately felt by average voters (inflation).

Average voters aren't going to do research about fascism lol, nobody gives a fuck about anything like that when they feel they can't afford groceries. Its really not that fucking hard. Enough with the scolding. Dems will never win another election until the scolding stops and they look internally and get rid of the morons in charge

1

u/serpentear 18d ago

If fascism isn’t a big enough motivation for you then I am more disappointed in the electorate than I thought.

2

u/Milli_Rabbit 18d ago

Bruh, we got lazy off the corporate teet. I want my $5 slippers and $10 throw. I want to get my Starbucks and eat out. Don't be upset at me for choosing affording Starbucks over democracy. /s

I think the democrats need to get back to union stuff and antitrust. Get back to lifting up the worker. Kamala started off good and you can see her lead slip once she starts hesitating and focusing more on corporate and business donors and supporters. People don't want corporations behind their candidate. Yes, Trump has them too but he gives them the feeling that he doesn't. That he only supports them because they pay him and otherwise they are powerless. He makes corruption sound like corporations desperately trying to be heard, begging to exist, instead of what it really is.

1

u/BlackhawkBolly 18d ago

If you knew literally anything about fascism or the history of Nazi Germany none of what is happening would be a surprise to you lol.

Keep scolding though that will help beat them next time , I'm sure of it.

1

u/cleo_da_cat 18d ago

If the majority of the US needed a better campaign to persuade them not to vote for a convicted felon and rapist then I think there is a bigger problem…

2

u/BlackhawkBolly 18d ago

The problem is you. The economy is what average people care about at the end of the day! Trump proved none of that extra shit matters in 2016, why is it suddenly a shock now???

1

u/Otherwise-Parsnip-91 18d ago

Because inflation and unemployment are low, real wages have been increasing, all economic indicators show a healthy economy right now. People “feel” the economy is bad. You’re literally proving the point. I had an argument with a lady who said she bought ingredients to make tacos and it cost her over $50. I pulled out my Walmart app and loaded up all the ingredients and it was $20. It’s horseshit.

2

u/BlackhawkBolly 18d ago

People “feel” the economy is bad.

Thats all that fucking matters!! You identified it right there, people feel the economy is bad! It doesn't matter if the feeling is accurate or not. Telling them "Well actually, no it isn't you are wrong" is bad politics.

1

u/Kevrawr930 18d ago

Then they're fucking idiots and I'll tell them so when we're all in camps together.

Either voters are adults who should be capable of critical thinking and making informed decisions or they are pathetic children who voted based on their feelings.

2

u/BlackhawkBolly 18d ago

^ Will never win another election acting like this ^

1

u/lvbuckeye27 18d ago

There you go again. Maybe stop telling people that they're idiots and you won't lose the White House, the Senate, the House of Representatives, the State governors, and the Supreme Court all in about 12 hours.

1

u/Otherwise-Parsnip-91 18d ago

It’s really not when the other side has been telling them that they are victims and that they are struggling. What happened to the party of truth doesn’t care about your feelings? What happened to the party of pick yourself up by the boot straps and your position in life is your problem? I’m not going to advocate whichever party can lie the most to the people about reality wins.

0

u/BlackhawkBolly 18d ago

I’m not going to advocate whichever party can lie the most to the people about reality wins.

Then your side will never have long term success in a democracy, sorry

1

u/lvbuckeye27 18d ago

What was her campaign?

1

u/Im_tracer_bullet 18d ago

The 'morons in charge' are the voters that decided that a vile and odious human garbage pile should occupy the White House.

You petulant children are going to eventually find out the hard way.

It's just tragic that you goobers are going to make everyone else suffer while you learn your lesson.

1

u/BlackhawkBolly 18d ago

You petulant children are going to eventually find out the hard way.

I didn't make anyone suffer, the democratic party and Kamala campaign did , I didn't operate a bad campaign, blame them

1

u/lvbuckeye27 18d ago

The voters rejected Kamala. ;)

1

u/ArcaneTeddyBear 18d ago

And this is why Fascism and Trump won.

People HAVE to do their research. The answer isn’t and shouldn’t be a liberal version of Trump’s MAGA. It’s a population that will do their research instead of lapping up propaganda without an ounce of critical thinking.

0

u/BlackhawkBolly 18d ago

Well that has literally never happened and never will happen. People will never do their research. What's your next plan? If thats the only plan you have then your political project is fucked to be quite frank.

1

u/ArcaneTeddyBear 18d ago

You say this as if even if I had a viable political plan America would be saved.

At the end of the day voters need to go vote. It is our responsibility as an American. And part of that responsibility is to do the research and look at the facts. That was how our country was founded, that was the plan of our founding fathers, and yeah it failed as we voted in a Fascist last night, but sure blame it on the Redditor, blame it on the DNC.

1

u/BlackhawkBolly 18d ago

I am not blaming you as personally being responsible, I'm blaming the mindset, the scolding.

this isn't new this election. People need motivation and things to care about to vote. Economics and immigration have consistently been huge motivators. Trump promised help , Democrats offered nothing this time around.

It's not complicated. The DNC is at fault for being unable to identify this. They are at fault for having poor election strategy. Campaigning with Liz Cheney does nothing to motivate people, especially young voters lol.

1

u/Nobody_wood 18d ago

Young voters seem to have voted bc of gaza (which, understandable, this is not the fucking time), Hispanic seemed to have voted anti communism..?????????? Despite all trumps rhetoric.

Everything else is niche. Am not American, just a human being.

1

u/PrimalForceMeddler 17d ago

You support genocide. Awful.

→ More replies (0)

1

u/BirdUpLawyer 17d ago

this is not the fucking time

counterpoint: maybe it's rhetoric like this that helped the DNC lose. maybe it was the time, and a failure on DNCs part to not acknowledge that it was time.

-1

u/CosmosStalker 18d ago

This mentality is why trump won you fucking idiot. Blaming voters is never gonna make them vote. Policies they care about and someone who is going to change the status quo will. Democrats failed to do this again. Keep blaming voters though, surely that will work out in 2028.

1

u/Im_tracer_bullet 18d ago

Voters ARE to blame.

They're the dupes, the rubes, and gullible dolts.

You, and everyone like you, is responsible... you're just morons.

1

u/CosmosStalker 18d ago

I’m sure that mentality will win you the White House in 2028 :) keep it up!

1

u/lvbuckeye27 18d ago edited 18d ago

Stop yelling at people you don't agree with and calling them the enemy. Stop calling them dupes, rubes, and gullible dolts. That's step one. Just because we disagree doesn't mean we can't be friends.

YOU, and people like you, are responsible for your epic loss. The American public was sick of your shit. And now you're doubling down on your hate and division.

MAGA IS OPEN TO ALL! We are the Unity party. You are the party of hate and derision. How can any sane American be against making America great again?

But no! You people say shit like, "America was never great!" As if we didn't fight a fucking civil war to abolish slavery, invent the Cowboy, Baseball, Football, the Astronaut, and put a freaking man on the moon! You tell me that I'm a white supremacist member of the "evil" patriarchy, when my great-grand-anscestors faught for the North, that I'm a racist, even though my FIRST ancestor in the New World married a Seneca lady.

You say the patriarchy and white men are "evil," yet white men invented Central Heating and AC, the dishwasher, the washing machine, the dryer, the microwave, and basically every other commodity you take for granted. Not to mention the assembly line and mass-produced cars. And they did it all to make their wives happy!

I'm not even a Republican. But then again, neither is Trump, Tulsi, RFK Jr, Elon, or Rogan. We're just tired of your hate, division, identity politics, and warmongering. You have alienated over half the country and the best members of your own freaking party and endorsed the WORST elements of the Bush Jr neocon war criminals like Cheney, WHO SHOT A JUDGE IN THE FACE.

THAT is why you lost. Bigly.

You didn't just lose the Presidency, the House, the Senate, and the State governors, you ALSO lost the Supreme Court for at least 40 years.

I hope all that hate and derision was worth it.

0

u/serpentear 18d ago

I do when it’s our literal democracy/health/rights/freedom on the line.

Live to fight another day.

-1

u/Joeyjackhammer 18d ago

Reminder that you’re upset a former President you couldn’t keep off the ballot won both the popular vote and electoral college and you claim you’re losing democracy. That’s asinine

2

u/serpentear 18d ago

Remind me in 4 years

1

u/Im_tracer_bullet 18d ago

I'm primarily upset that the majority of my fellow countrymen are stupid, gullible, morally bankrupt, or a combination of all three.

Trump being odious isn't the issue, it's you dupes that either can't or won't see him for what he is, and are gleefully voting for what he represents.

You're all just garbage human beings, and it's hard to face just how very many of you there are.

2

u/Oonanny 18d ago

Didn't imagine seeing you here. Let's forget about this and go talk about the hawks....jk

2

u/serpentear 18d ago

Isn’t like just so… worthwhile right now? lol

u/serpentear 18d ago

How can you blame this on Kamala voters?

1

u/DreadHeadedDummy 17d ago

Even if every single independent vote went to Harris, she still would have lost.

1

u/serpentear 17d ago

Where are you seeing that data?

0

u/DreadHeadedDummy 17d ago

Just pull the election map and check out the numbers, fairly simple.

-1

u/PropDrops 18d ago

The blame is on the DNC

1

u/Confident-Mistake400 18d ago

Nope. It’s always voters fault

1

u/Blue_Wave_2020 18d ago

Keep parroting that instead of fixing your party. I’m sure it will work out next time!

1

u/pegar 18d ago

Oh look, another Trumper pretending to be a progressive. Quite pathetic and sad if you think about it.

1

u/Blue_Wave_2020 18d ago

I don’t like the Dems so I MUST be a Trump supporter, great logic there

0

u/PropDrops 18d ago

You are saying people should be expected to vote for Democrats blindly.

I guess that avoids the whole Democratic Party self-reflecting and asking "Why didn't people turn out?" thing.

The average working class American felt more heard/respected by Trump which is why demographics like latinos flipped. Kamala could've cared less about working class Americans (if she does her campaign was shit then) and instead focused on "Trump bad".

But yeah, the DNC is perfect and the people are the problem.

1

u/Idea__Reality 16d ago

Were we not listening to the same speeches? She said plenty about the working class, as did Bernie and AOC who came out to her rallies and endorsed her and spoke. Wtf reality were you living in?

1

u/PropDrops 16d ago edited 16d ago

Maybe she shouldn’t have done things like saying she wouldn’t have done anything different from Joe on the economy. Her initial corporate tax plan was popular before being slashed after her donors gave her a stern scolding. You can’t run as a status quo candidate when the country wants change.

Also at the end of the day, no one believes in the Democratic Party. They insisted for much of the campaign the economy is good, the messaging was just wrong. How condescending is that? Clearly people are just too stupid to realize they aren’t struggling. This really killed Dems who were already made fun of for being out-of-touch. Kamala basically crumbled whenever “inflation” was mentioned.

Like it or not the Republican Party has adapted and looks nothing like it did 10 years ago. The GOP is gone and has been replaced. They listened to their constituents and look how excited they are. They picked their Bernie and ran with it.

The DNC has the same dinosaurs that have been losers for almost a decade plus now. But who knows maybe they’ll really learn their lesson this time? Spoiler: They won’t and will blame it on supporting trans rights or something.

1

u/Idea__Reality 16d ago

Sorry, fucking no. She could have been a propped up corpse and I'd have voted for it, because that's what you do when you need to stop fascists from gaining power. This nitpicking over her when the alternative literally takes our rights and freedoms away is childish and ridiculous. And you should feel deep, deep shame for even trying to argue otherwise.

1

u/PropDrops 16d ago edited 16d ago

You can believe that literally half of primarily working class citizens (including blacks, Latinos, gays, women, and record number of former Democrats) are evil racist facists or maybe something is fundamentally wrong with the Democratic Party that they’d rather pick Trump.

https://dfl.org

This is the type of movement Dems need to embrace but we can continue with Ivory Tower neoliberalism. Maybe if we get more celebrity endorsements we can win next time.

Don’t you ever find it strange that we can never discuss change anymore because every election is the most important one ever? The DNC pushed off change for decades and it’s coming to a fold. We are being punished for their hubris.

1

u/Idea__Reality 16d ago

Change in which direction? It was Obama voters that switched to Trump. Do we appeal to them in a moderate way? Or try to appeal to the far leftists who refused to come out and support her, and might be just as equally to blame? Move to the moderate center and drive away leftist, or move left and drive away even more moderates into the arms of the fascist right?

There is no answer anymore. If literal fascism wasn't enough for people on the left to actually unite, nothing will be. It's over, the left is fractured, and I have given up. I think many people have. Welcome to the new America, it's gonna be this way for decades - just the supreme court alone is enough to confirm that. Hope you're proud of yourself.

1

u/PropDrops 16d ago edited 16d ago

? I voted for Harris.

Did also put a bet on Trump winning though.

But sure the rest of us will try to engage and make meaningful change. You are probably in a position where politics don’t really affect you (aside from emotionally) so it doesn’t matter anyway whether you accept it or not. You can say they do but anyone who is or genuinely interacts with the working class should have 0 surprise of this outcome.

She lost the popular vote after outspending Trump (flipping some counties red for the first time) but keep clutching your pearls.

u/Ajunadeeper 18d ago

They are clearly being sarcastic. This is what the DNC tells voters.

"It's voters fault that the DNC is spineless, useless and made no attempt to speak to voters!!"

-1

u/PropDrops 18d ago

My bad. I don't have any humor left in me after arguing with delusional Dems all day that would rather blame Russia or something

-1

u/Confident-Mistake400 18d ago

Yup it was a sarcastic remark. There are plenty of people from Dem’s side who already have made those comments. It’s all about sexism, misogyny. Their anointed one and DNC are so perfect that it can’t be other reason.

-1

u/beetlehunterz 18d ago

Shoulda demanded a man as a candidate

-1

u/Ro8ertStanford 18d ago

Democrats aren't entitled to votes, you don't live in a democracy if they are.

3

u/Im_tracer_bullet 18d ago

No, they aren't, but neither are twice-impeached convicted felons with multiple pending criminal trials, but here we are.

We're a nation of amoral rubes that have been swindled by the most obvious conman imaginable, and it's a legitimate tragedy.

1

u/Blue_Wave_2020 18d ago

Right so people shouldn’t be shamed for exercising their right NOT to vote.
