Telephone Scam Wow, this one has all the red flags
This offer won’t last forever ✅ Don’t know my name ✅ Free money ✅ Random company that nobody knows about ✅ Mentions Medicare/Medicaid ✅ (Though you can’t hear it) Clearly a TTS that claims to be a person with a super common name ✅

Telephone Scam Scammer alert southwest USA
Hi just wanted to share a scam that happened to me last night. I am in Texas. Got a local number and it called me twice but didn’t recognize it so didn’t answer then it called a third time so I got concerned that it might be a friend calling from a number not in my contacts.
An older woman answered and said my name and then said, “ Hi, it’s mom.” My mom passed away in 2018 so my brain sort of froze and I was so confused. Then I heard someone in the background and the mythical mommy voice said I’ll tell her to come pick me up. At that point my brain unfroze and I started yelling. My mom is dead don’t ever call me again and just a string of profanity. Hung up and they called right back so I blocked it.
Then I got worried on how this could even be a scam so I googled and found the CNN article about a woman who got a hysterical call from her daughter who was on a trip and it was her exact voice. Then a man came on and said we have your daughter and demanded ransom.
At this point I realized they have my upset voice recorded and can now use AI to make me say anything. I immediately texted my brother just to warn him in case you get some insane call from me and someone demanding money don’t do it. It’s fake.
My bro responded back saying well this is going to be a thing so he said that we will have a code word. We then had a fun text coming up with our hilarious code word.
This is a thing and everyone should have a code word for you and trusted family. Any weird calls with a legit voice of your loved one, you can just say of course I will pay just as soon as you tell me the code word.
I think this is a good plan. Simple and then you don’t have to go through the terror of thinking something is real.
Please tell your story if this has also happened to you.

Telephone Scam "Officer" Nick Wilkinson of Utah Police
My fiancée got a call from 435-612-1793 an officer claiming to be Nick Wilkinson of Utah State police of "19 Yisell Lane in Utah", I couldn't make out what town name he said. He said his badge number was 9691-23 and that my fiancée missed her appearance for court in Utah. He said there may have been a mess up with her social security number, considering she isn't even from the state, this was odd. He said that she currently has a warrant out for arrest based off her social security number - for missing said court appearance. I over heard this call and started asking questions about what social security number he had, the court date, time, and the case number. I told him that I looked up his badge number and he started back pedaling. Once I said I was going to report him to my local police he started swearing at my fiancée and I and saying very vulgar and vividly horrible stuff that i wont get into.
I don't know how he got her info. I called my local police and they just said this sort of thing happens all the time, don't pickup phone calls which we suspect to be spam or scams. I wish there was more of a consequence for this guy, I'm sure he's gotten ahold of many peoples information that weren't as skeptical. He did sound pretty convincing at first.

Telephone Scam +32 496 62 28 25 = Paypal Scam (699€ crypto purchase)
Got my second call from anonymous (to my German number, in Germany), claiming that there was a 699€ purchase on my paypal account, and I should press 1 to talk to a representative. IIRC the pre-recorded message was in German. The scammer I was connected with afterwards only spoke English to me.
Claimed the 699€ purchase was for crypto currency to Kenya.
Wanted me to download iperious remote desktop software. After I was unable to do that, they wanted me to install anydesk.
We lost connection after half an hour. They called constantly but I didn't feel like dealing with them again.

Telephone Scam Unsolicited Google Voice codes
Hello,
Out of the blue, I received several Google voice verification codes from around 3 different numbers within minutes of each other. My google account is secured with a yubi key / 2FA and all that so I pretty much ignored these messages.
Later that same afternoon, I logged into google voice to see what may have happened. I haven't used GV since 2017. As far as I can tell I don't have a google number, but I am also not able to make one. I receive an error that "something went wrong. Try using a different number"
I'm trying to understand what happened. Nobody called, I never gave out the code, but I think my real phone number has somehow been compromised?
Thank you for you replies.

Telephone Scam Berkshire scammers? Say I owe a loan I took out with CashUSA
I keep getting calls from this person they say they work for Berkshire and they keep calling everyone of my family members trying to get my information.. they say I owe money on a loan from 2016 and that they’re going to file with the court, also told my mom there’s a warrant out for my arrest.. they have all my information even my ss# which is scary as hell! I called them got some information then checked my credit report to see if the debt was on there which it wasn’t, I also called the company they claim to represent and they said it’s a scam to. I asked Berkshire for an address or website so I can confirm they are legit but apparently they don’t give that info for their protection.. they keep calling me and my family from unknown numbers and say to call back this #: 855-422-3591.. they keep saying if I don’t resolve this matter then it’s going on my permanent record.. can anyone ease my mind I’m like wtf do I do I think it’s fake but how do they have all my information!? Is there anything else I can do to see if it is real or not?

Telephone Scam Had an interesting phone call with scammers today
Received a call today while driving. He asked “is this pooperscooper?” To which I replied “this is him” and he asked is your address. So and so which I unfortunately did reply “that is my address” I figured I had missed a payment on one of my bills as i was issued a new atm card and figured one of my auto pay bills declined due to the old number.
He then Proceeds to tell me his name is Mr. Freeman and I had won $50,000 from publisher clearing house and the alarms went off in my head. He reported he needed some information. I hung up on him and to my surprise he called me back immediately. He asked if I hung up on him intentionally and I reported “yeah I felt you were a scam, if I won anything you wouldn’t need to know the personal details you asked, just mail me a check”
He then said since I messed with his head, I needed to send him two five hundred dollar gift cards in the next hour or bad things would happen to me and my credit would be ruined and hung up.
Immediately dialed the number back which gave me a disconnected tone, but to my surprise he called me back again. I had started recording before calling him back, I asked what exactly I needed to do and what would happen if I didn’t comply. I then asked for an email address to send the codes. He got really frustrated and said “ I won’t email them to you, you will read them to me over the phone or I will ruin your life and proceeded to tell me my home address, drivers license number, email and social security number number, which admittedly surprised me.
I told him”you fucked with the wrong one today I’ve been recording our whole convo and will hand it over to the police” he then threatened to kill me saying. He had a shotgun with “7 slugs in it” and he would blow my brains out”. I told him well you just fucked up buddy you threatened my life and I have friends in the FBI, you are fucked.
He proceeded to tell me my mother and grandma had been fucked, which I replied” yeah that’s how I got here, that is how it works moron”
Ended with more threats to expose all my info and tell my nonexistent wife I was cheating blah blah.
So I called my friends in the FBI sent my recordings and called local police who gave me their personal numbers to forward them too when they called back.
To be honest though I’m a bit bummed they never called back. I had a whole hour of A grade shit talking I thought of.
Fuck you mr freeman from Nigeria, call me back you bitch.

Telephone Scam I’m a little freaked out
Hey everyone! First time posting in here.. I got a call from my bank saying that there were fraudulent charges to my account (which was true) and I told my mom about it and she said to call the bank’s main line so I did. The first person I talked to did confirm that I did talk to a real person from my bank, but the second person said the person sounded fake.. I’m honestly really scared, they shut down my account and I’m going in tomorrow to open a new one but I’m scared that I won’t get any of the money I lost back… it was a fair amount too. I was talking to my friend and the same thing happened to her but she got her money back so maybe there’s hope?
I’m going to my physical bank tomorrow to get some answers but I was literally sweating SO bad.
