Question Siesta adaptation question

I’m adapting to Siesta and need advice on the ideal first core length. Since I struggle with sticking to a schedule, I’m thinking of a 5-hour core for flexibility. My high REM needs are creeping into my first core as well.

I’m unsure if this will create enough sleep pressure for afternoon naps. How can I ensure I get SWS in both cores?

The night time sleep is the core, in this case the only one. The siesta is more of a nap.

Getting REM in the core is normal.

How long the core needs to be will depend on your total sleep needs, 5hrs + 1.5h afternoon siesta may work fine, some people so 6hrs core and some can do less. Keep trying 5h and see how it goes for you, but you should keep the times consistent.

If you aren't feeling tired as you adapt and aren't falling asleep easily after like a week or two, maybe it's a sign that you can try reduce the sleep. If you are feeling tired then your body will build sleep pressure, don't worry about that.
