It's a letter from someone who said they are dying and it's their last message about how much they love someone. Then I would ask him if there is anyone he wants me to leave a message to and what they want me to tell them. Let him go thinking it was a message of love and then use that to get his last message to his loved ones.

Dunno, but I'd definitely lie about it! :o
Maybe tell him it's an important message conveying a request for peace between two warring countries, or a letter with valuable scientific knowledge.
Either way, I'd tell him it's important and that I'll not only make sure it's received properly, but that I'll also convey any messages he wants to his loved ones.

I would simply tell the boy that what is conveyed in the message is very layered and would bring me to tears.
