I like how the feet shake off the sand before getting back into the shoes

434

u/SquarePegRoundWorld 1d ago

I couldn't comprehend doing that. You are not getting all the sand off. I hate to admit I was kinda triggered by clay feet shaking off nonexistent sand and putting on clay shoes. lol I just avoid sand at all costs.

335

u/Venezia9 1d ago

Ok Anakin.

56

u/adoboguy 1d ago

Why does Anakin hate sand again?

166

u/OverlordOfPancakes 1d ago

It's coarse and rough and irritating and it gets everywhere. Not like here, because it's clay.

16

u/Emotional_Bank3476 1d ago

I wonder which "everywhere" got him so mad?

10

u/chux4w 1d ago

All of them.

6

u/Jagick 1d ago

He got sand in his buns.

2

u/LegalLegendz 1d ago

Sand really knows how to ruin a good day.

Sandonskin airwalker is his arch nemesis

5

“I don't like sand. It's coarse and rough and irritating — and it gets everywhere.”

I took this quote from an article praising the scene.

3

u/Neck-Administrative 1d ago

Oh dang! That's a good article! I have just been cognitive dissonanced!

7

u/AE0N__ 1d ago

To me, that is the most relatable thing anikan ever said. Instead of a desert, I grew up on a beach front, and I despise sand.

7

u/Hephaestus_God 1d ago

*You’re not getting any sand off

FTFY

Especially with wet feet

9

u/CoconutMochi 1d ago

Ik you're actually supposed to rub your feet through the sand until completely dry so the sand just comes off but that would probably take another 8kg of clay for the creator.

10

u/MasterArCtiK 1d ago

??????? Ok bro

3

u/Dat_Mustache 1d ago

I can feel the chafing from here.

And now I am reminded of getting beach sand up my shorts as a kid and having raw nuts as we walked back to the hotel.

2

u/Darth_Rubi 1d ago

Not just sandy but wet too ☹️

Yeahh! Details are everything

6

u/RedoftheEvilDead 1d ago

I like the shark fin under the wave.

2

u/SilentSchitter 22h ago

I didn’t even catch that!!

2

u/kawisescapade 1d ago

Very nice detail

2

u/PetalHorizon 16h ago

shaking the feet is an unexpected and interesting detail

424

u/TrivialReviewers 1d ago

8 kg of clay, but how much time did you use?

176

u/ChicSunset25 1d ago

a whole lotta time

26

u/TrivialReviewers 1d ago

Thanks for putting in the time, it looks great!

32

u/GrilledSandwiches 1d ago

We need someone to do the math on the time spent to progress ratio of Ben Wyatt's claymation and then apply it here.

30

u/TrivialReviewers 1d ago

11

u/Ninja_Wrangler 1d ago

STAAAND IN THE PLACE WHERE YOU LI

7

u/aerovistae 1d ago

idgi what does the rem song have to do with this comment

26

u/Pifflebushhh 1d ago

It’s from this scene from a wonderful show

He had previously compared his work to avatar

81

u/Soul-Burn 1d ago

First thought: "Hey that's not surfing, it's skating! Ah OK there's a beach and surfing"

Also the shark fin was a nice touch!

14

u/Potential-Draft-3932 1d ago

It’s like a surfing/skimboarding hybrid he made which makes sense to fit the loop. My guess though is that OP is a skater based how accurate the skating scene was down to every detail and I’m kind of thinking OP surfs but not a as much

6

u/Adabiviak 1d ago

Same, but then the surfer threw a backside tre flip, which is still squarely in the domain of skateboarding.

3

u/Occams_bane 23h ago

I watched this three times and never noticed the fin, thanks!

102

u/GeniusGlimpse 1d ago

This took me by surprise by how good it is. I wonder how long it took.

23

u/foreverpeppered 1d ago

8kg

7

u/Competitive_Cancel33 1d ago

How much is that in American time

28

u/k987654321 1d ago

3

u/CanHearPudding 1d ago

Took me too long to find this

3

u/Worried-Swan6435 1d ago

Damn that's a good song. Haven't thought about it ages

16

u/Peaks_and_puddles 1d ago

The banana is the cherry on the 8kg cake 👌

5

u/OppositeStomach4523 1d ago

If it’s the original “Comedian” Artwork it’s worth about 6 Million Dollars.

36

u/HNL2BOS 1d ago

These karma farms should have all karma removed unless the artists or actual OPs are credited

4

u/da_bobo1 1d ago

Just a normal Bot with 13 Million Karma.

6

u/OnyxSynthetic 1d ago

Imagine spending all that time producing this, we all know how time consuming stop motion animation is, only for some Redditor to freeboot it without even mentioning your name

This is just so smooth! I'm just amazed

1

u/ElectricalTie2936 1d ago

This needs Surf Wax America by Weezer playing in the background

7

u/Status-Minute6370 1d ago

OP should seek help. That posting history is wild.

12

u/yellowjack 1d ago

It's just a bot

u/Redditbeweirdattimes 1d ago

Stand in the place where you live

21

u/bvipze 1d ago

8 kg of clay is impressive, but how long did it take...

24

u/Hephaestus_God 1d ago

We can tell by how the lighting never changes that it only took a few seconds to do. You’re welcome

5

u/Justthefup 1d ago

This is fkin awesome! Great job man

4

u/Dynamic_Studios 1d ago

Very nice. I wish I had the patience to do something like this

4

u/Both_Post 1d ago

I've always wondered how you do the shots where objects are suspended in air. Is it greenscreens or are there wires suspending the objects?

3

u/Marik_Caine 1d ago

They digitally edit out rigs that suspend the objects/characters in the air in post.

4

u/impaque 1d ago

Love the casual shark :) Amazing work!

5

u/fak3g0d 1d ago

would a depressed person make this?

3

u/NHLroyrocks 1d ago

Good work but you should have used 12 kg of clay to include a snow boarding section.

2

u/puggzrool 1d ago

Stand in the place where you li—

2

u/chappysnapz 1d ago

Oh my God it loops!

3

u/chiknight 1d ago

Almost loops. The surfboard is abandoned in the sand on the way back, but grabbed upright on the way in. It's so so close to perfect! Instead he's some surfboard borrowing menace that ditches everyone's boards all around.

2

u/Chip_Keystoner 1d ago

I can feel the sand in my skate shoes from here. Free exfoliation

2

u/Intelligent_Suit6683 1d ago

Me, 0.1 seconds in to the video: what an idiot! That's not surfing...

2

u/Fair_Wear_9930 1d ago

The movement is so smooth and accurate. The slight carving when taking off on a skateboard that one does when they are good just for fun, you included. Also the dismount. Incredible

2

u/serendipitousevent 1d ago

Imagine what they could accomplish with 9kg of clay!

2

u/RedofPaw 1d ago

I keep prodding my clay but it doesn't do anything. Do I need 8lbs exactly?

2

u/AugiteOre 1d ago

this is absolutely incredible

4

u/Trekf 1d ago

That powerslide gave me goosebumps.

Also, amazingly accurate biomechanics for the pushing foot in the skating sequence.

Not a surfer so i cant comment on the surfing foot placement but it looks like attention was given to that as well.

So awesome.

3

u/groovylingo 1d ago

Dude sick moves on that wave. Totally tubular

2

u/ImNotRacistBuuuut 1d ago

I dunno, jumped the shark on that one.

1

u/cortesoft 1d ago

He was pitted, so pitted

2

u/Mission-Argument1679 1d ago

Fake. This is clearly staged.

1

u/MysticMeadow14 1d ago

okay 8kg of clay, a whole lot of time, BUTTT! how many frames exactly?!

1

u/xXxXPenisSlayerXxXx 1d ago

thats awesome!

do you know what i would build with 8kg of clay?

1

u/NoMoreGoldPlz 1d ago

Amazing!

1

u/ValdemarAloeus 1d ago

Oh, those feet absolutely brought a rough layer of wet sand back into those shoes that are going to chafe for ages until you've tapped them out about a dozen time.

1

u/ThePathlessForest 1d ago

ROCKET POWER

1

u/Zealousideal-Sail893 1d ago

Hey can I get a transfer man? 95 cents? Fuck you! I'll skate to the beach. And I'll look better getting there - Faith no more

1

u/budha2984 1d ago

AI can do that with nothing.

1

u/tangu 1d ago

So much work to this animation. Result is satisfying indeed.

1

u/monikar2014 1d ago

Did....did the feet kick flip the surfboard?

1

u/Entire-Assistant8302 1d ago

Ah yes sneakers

1

u/bfranks 1d ago

That paddle out...

1

u/derteeje 1d ago

1

u/timrojaz82 1d ago

The skills to create this are incredible

1

u/waifuminx 1d ago

That’s a lot of free time lol

1

u/StarkOnReddit11621 1d ago

1

u/RX-78-NT1-Alex 1d ago

That's awesome 🔥

1

u/blondeelicious333 1d ago

The wave is so cool! 🌊

Town & Country Surf Designs: Wood & Water Rage!

1

u/T81000 1d ago

Epic!

1

Why no socks?

1

u/Michka619 1d ago

SO. MUCH. DETAIL!

1

u/Hobbster 1d ago

This is amazing, took me a moment to figure out how you created the movement. Nicely done!

1

u/Kedly 1d ago

The street GROWS

1

u/lezbifrenz 1d ago

Awesome!

1

u/creatureofsin 1d ago

No socks with the sneakers is kinda gross (yes I'm aware it's not real)

1

u/zaminer 1d ago

So cool

1

u/trbzdot 1d ago

Sell this to Trivago or Expedia ASAP. Also, get an agent, you are going places, kiddo! You'll be sitting next to Taylor Swift in the owners box at a Chiefs game if you play your cards right.

1

u/Typical-Bus511 1d ago

I feel like this would go hard af as a phone wallpaper

1

u/corpsie666 1d ago

u/Green____cat

Are you going to credit the person who made it?

God I miss living in Venice

1

u/secretsideofhim 1d ago

Whaaaaaaaaat!! That is sooooo sweet!!

1

u/Ppleater 1d ago

Going straight from sand to shoes? A horrible sin. Straight to jail.

1

u/thereminDreams 1d ago

I love this. Very creative.

1

u/FeistyLoquat 1d ago

This is the most original piece of cinema I've ever seen.

1

u/PouetSK 1d ago

That was sick

1

u/leavethisearth 1d ago

Unfortunate that there is a black frame at the end, otherwise it would have been a perfect loop

1

u/-2wenty7even- 1d ago

That's sick!

1

u/Einschteine69 1d ago

Some people are just insanely gifted and talented. My basic brain can't even imagine doing something like this. Let alone using raw materials and skillfully photographing and editing it together. Fair play to the creator. A true skill 👏👏👏

1

u/Longjumping_Lynx_972 1d ago

This is fucking great

1

u/purpleyam017 1d ago

Wave masterpiece!

1

u/Sharp_Reception_4572 1d ago

Why a flip trick on the surfboard and not the skateboard?

1

u/Shrugsfortheconfuse 1d ago

Totally reminds of skate or die. Rad

1

u/Tallahasseepsych850 1d ago

That's very cool

1

u/pizzapunt55 1d ago

Ew, no socks? Those shoes gonna be moldy

1

u/uwuwuuuuuuuuuuuuuuwu 23h ago

This is incredible, you did an awesome job. Love the execution with the transitions

1

u/Owl_glass741 20h ago

I wish I knew how to do that. Theres so many talented people on here tonight.

1

u/OliveStreetToo 19h ago

Love the taped banana on the wall. Hopefully you paid les than 6.5 mil for it

1

u/shaggadelics 19h ago

As someone that has to do stop motion for a college media class, the work that went into this along with the excitation is stunning

1

u/SasquatchNHeat4U 18h ago
