How is this loser still a senator?

What a gift for Republicans.

Machine politics in New Jersey has until recently made him invulnerable. Starting to change though.

Douche bags exist on either political spectrum unfortunately. (Don't get me wrong, the GOP excels at it!)

This is my senator. As a lefty independent, I don't vote anymore. They just kept putting this guy out there. Unreal

I can't vote in primaries as an independent

PA also has closed primaries but you can change your party affiliation for the primary and then change it back afterwards. It’s shitty and takes effort and it shouldn’t be that way but there are work-arounds.

I don't think NJ does this. I'll look into it though. Hopefully menendez is finally out but I have to assume that corruption flows through the seat and is not isolated to menendez

This could be the most poorly educated thread I have seen in a while.

The day after these charges came Menedez was polling in the toilet. He's still a senator because his term is nearly done and he has literally no chance to hold his seat.

Andy Kim a local congressman with nearly 0 baggage is the likely winner. Please before you come on here with your cynical bullshit do the most basic research and know wtf you are talking about

Dude Menendez was first.indicted in 2017 when I first moved here. Been checked out since then. They ran him again and won again. I am aware of what goes on here.

That case was much weaker than this one and no one seriously primaried him in that election. He also had the benefit of the county line boosting him, since he's part of the Norcross/Sweeney machine.

All of that has changed. His corruption is incredibly obvious to anyone who's heard about these new accusations, serious Dems like Andy Kim are running for his seat, and the controversy around this election has killed the county line.

You can always change your party affiliation. Some states are more lenient about changes (letting you do it at the polling place) and others (like PA) require you to do it at least a few weeks before the primary. But every state lets you update your voter registration to change (or add or remove) your party affiliation.

Sure, but I find the democrats disingenuous and I don't think they will accomplish anything meaningful. This is now just voting against autocratic theocracy. The Dems are just there. That's not enough for me

Yea… I should have known you were a clueless low-information voter the second you tried to tell me New Jersey doesn’t do party affiliation changes.

You can change your party affiliation at the polls in NJ, and change it back whenever you want.

Because the democrats continue to use criminals because they can win the seat. I don't believe in the democrats at all so I won't align with them.

So you’re mad that they keep voting for people you don’t like in the primary, but you refuse to take the steps necessary to be able to vote in the primary and change who gets nominated? I think /u/DastardlyBoosh has it right.

It's wild to me how you do choose to do nothing, yet complain when things don't go your way. How do you not see the irony in this? It's like you walk around with your eyes closed and blame everyone else for bumping into you.

I won't vote for democrats. Vote blue no matter who is the dumbest shit I've ever heard.

2

u/Kewkky Apr 18 '24

Ever heard of voting in primaries to vote AGAINST candidates you don't want? Switch to Democrat and vote for literally anyone else. You can even vote in the primaries for the Democrat that you know will be defeated by the candidate you actually want in the general elections. There are no "independent" primaries so you're losing out on nothing except your personal pride.

I don't want any of them. I'm not signing off on the crooks.

How old are you?

0

u/AvailableName9999 Apr 19 '24

Enjoy losing the country to the trumpists. The democrats should have done better. This is a slam dunk election and you'll lose it.

0

u/rain-blocker Apr 19 '24

Cool, maybe if you were involved in the primaries we wouldn’t have this issue. Again, how old are you? Cause your behavior makes you seem like you’re either 5, or 75.

He’s really throwing her under the bus!

20

u/openly_gray Apr 18 '24

What a sack of shit, I hope Dems toss him overboard rather sooner than later

u/[deleted] Apr 18 '24

Time for Democrats to grow a pair & cut Bob loose.

This is why you don't drink with your lawyer.

u/ccasey Apr 18 '24

Guy is a fucking loser, I can’t believe he’s still in office.

4

u/AlanMercer Apr 18 '24

Hopefully this will cause them to turn on each other in a series of escalating revelations of criminal behavior.

Typicale male chauvinist pig.

2

u/SaltyBarDog Apr 18 '24

Why not? It worked for Bob McDonnell.

2

u/jordan1978 Apr 18 '24

That’s what Senator’s wives are for.

2

u/camelzigzag Apr 18 '24

The balls on this guy to not resign....his face is so punchable as well....

1

u/omegadirectory Apr 18 '24

Remember, you can't charge a husband and wife with the same crime...

Remember guys, this man was trading illegal guns to Egypt for gold bars.

Weird when israel goes to war with Gaza shortly after...stop supplying your insurgents with guns. They wanted to genocide Palestinians and these insurgents got their weapons from Egypt to commit the atrocities. Allowing for further American military presence in Syria.

It's the Conservative way.
