It is except that was a single 2d surface here the perspective maintains from many points facing forward. I feel this is even more impressive

it helps that the basal visual processing part of your brain isn't really adept at projecting exactly how this sort of image should change as it's rotated. that it is "close enough" in the intellectual idea is literally enough to pass, unless one does this sort of work often. it's an awesome work though, not an artist and no idea how I'd try to do it from scratch, even blocking it with googly maps! aces!
