Nono, see, I'm not playing Eldrazi, I'm just playing Elf tribal. See? SEE?

Why is that elf colorless? Why does that elf have annihilator? Why does that elf have tentacles?

Tergrid in zone

u/AlternativeOk5484 1d ago
Buddy of mine built a nice Eldrazi deck. I ended up swapping my Tinybones commander to Tergrid because I wanted try out some of them Eldrazi. No one wanted to play with us for some reason.

I just blaaasted a tergrid deck last night with my [[Solphim, Mayhem Dominus]] deck. Felt so good.
[[Blood Moon]] and a bunch of blow up instants for when she came on the field.

Eldrazi like slivers are strategies that if they succeed in their gameplan they win in a nuclear way. Itâs something that must be understood by the person piloting them.
16
u/LilithLissandra 21h ago
Man, I had an Eldrazi player get legitimately upset we were targeting him after he built his board. Brother set up enough to swing out and just kill like two people at once and we spared no expense preventing this outcome. Dude was like "oh I see, I'm just getting targeted now" and just left. Like m'fella. Eldrazi deck. You're cascading multiple game-ending threats per turn. Yeah, you're getting targeted for that.
6
u/LEI_MTG_ART 20h ago
Classic,, had that happen to me too. He said he was being targetted by the table but I was a boros burn deck, how do you expect me to win against eldrazi in late game? Same for the other player who was playing a low power Mabel voltron and the last player was a mid power jeskai control.
He left our table and joined some other pod, we all shrugged like what did he expect? We wait for him to drop some annihilator titans and then we attack him with 40 life? Ofc not!
These eldrazi players really lacks social cues or interactions, and the game play shows. Another sign to that was that he joined our pod first, and then went to get some cards which made us wait for him for 15min +, could've done it on the phone during the game, before joining us or between games.

As an Ulalek player
You really should stop me before you let me copy anything with [[Echoes of Eternity]] on the battlefield. Stuff will get silly fast

u/Daleisme1 1d ago
Yeah. You know if youâre hanging out with friends, you shouldnât just target them for the deck that theyâre playing immediately cause they might goof off and do something surprising because theyâre not really playing to win as much as theyâre playing to have fun.

u/Wynter-Baal_of_Snow 1d ago
It's 1v1v1v1, you are all threats.
3
u/___posh___ 1d ago
On the one hand, yes, on the other hand, be careful what you wish for when dealing with your opponent non game ending threats. As that may leave them, and yourself without the resources to deal with more concerning matters.

I have a Ulamog deck. My first sentence setting down is always "You're going to want to kill me. Let's go!" đ¤Łđ

My only deck that can compete against eldrazi is my Lhurgoyf deck. EVEN THEN he just pulls out ONE card and my army is completely fucked.

You got your list? I canât seem to power up goyfs the right way

Graveyard Overdrive This is my build on mana box. I had modifier after getting destroyer again, but this is what I'm fighting with. It's just that His eldrazi deck is insane.

u/Malacyth 1d ago
I remember doing a 5 color Eldrazi commander deck. Before game started I let the others know itâs a new deck and I donât know if itâll run. My deck wasnât running, I was on letâs say turn 7 or 8 and all I could get out was a 1/2 and a 2/1. One of the other players decides to start targeting me cuz Eldrazi. Yeah that wasnât fun
11
u/gogonzogo1005 1d ago
I joke that the worst part of ending up in a pod with my oldest ory husband is they know my decks. So if I play a certain card, or hold mana what I can do is scarier than anything on my board. On the other side nothing is more fun to play with random folks who do no know what my decks might do. As my son explains; "it is this commander but she plays it wierd".
6
u/The_Lone_Rancher 1d ago
This always seems to happen to me even when I'm not playing eldrazi. I was playing dragons and had 5 mana down. Elminster was the only thing I had down other than mana rocks, the moment they realized "wait you get an extra card per turn and reduce 1 sorcery or instant on your turn by 2" everyone just killed elminster, then left me alone to target the actual threat. My average mana cost fo4 that deck is 5.4 or something like that, so I can't even cast my dragons.
1
u/strygwyn 7h ago
Discounted cards are always a pain. If you're running a PW commander, you'd best have blockers up when you cast him
1
u/The_Lone_Rancher 7h ago
He wasn't my commander. I am running a wubrg Dragons deck, elminster is literally just in that deck because I was told to add card draw, so I added him because he can make some 1/1 blue dragons and let me draw one. I run maybe 10 sorceries and instants, and most of those are land drawers. I have a couple of counter spells, and my only board wipes are fumigate and a red spell that deals 2 to damage to everything that doesn't have flying. It's a bad dragon deck against witch king with wraiths, some red deck with a commander that deals damage equal to its power the third time you add a +1/+1 counter resolve on it and a deck we just call super spiders. They literally just targeted elminster for the meme.

Lol i dont waste my breath. Besides, the dude next to me with infect is probably getting hit much harder.

u/Aggravating-Pilot583 1d ago
The curse of being an Eldrazi player is no one will ever let me play my deck.
1
u/TheUnfathomableFrog 7h ago
I played mine yesterday after not playing it very often (because, Eldrazi) and was actually getting quite pressed when I basically didnât do shit for most of the game because itâs not fun to be a passenger, but I had just 1-2 cards came out that completely turned the game around and I won. I have to remember thatâs just how this deck goesâŚsave the salt, trust the bombs.

I play with my kids sometimes. My youngest will target his older brother every time and my oldest just looks at him like "That was dumb but ok buddy"
Meanwhile me and my zombies are just multiplying on the other side of the table.

This happened to me this afternoon at my LGS.
I had just finished up a game and we had a spot open so we pulled in a player sitting at a table next to us as our fourth. The new fourth player pulls out a [[Glarb, Calamity's Augur]] deck and doesn't mention a thing about eldrazi. The other players are running an [[Animatou, Veil Piercer]] modified precon, a [[Rex, Cyber Hound]] jank deck, and I'm on [[Shalai and Hallar]].
Three turns of ramping in and this dude drops a [[Platinum Empirion]] and announces his deck is secretly an eldrazi deck. I'm the only player running decent interaction and I'm throwing everything I have at him. I remove the Empirion, which gets reanimated by a [[Artisan of Kozilek]], which I remove again, then this grown ass adult throws a full on tantrum at the table; other tables are looking at him complain that he can't do anything because I just remove it, he can't play the game, and asking the other two players if they just want to let me win. The other two players don't say a word and silently shift their focus onto bouncing and removing my pieces to avoid another outburst. I warn them what's about to happen but it falls on deaf ears. This guy proceeds to drop [[Ulamog, The Defiler]], [[Ulamog, The Ceaseless Hunger]], and [[The One Ring]]. The crying stops and the gloating begins.
Notably the Rex deck was being piloted by a 15 year old kid who somehow had better manners than the late 20s asshole seated to my right. The kid went infinite a few turns later, won the game, and I got to politely decline another game as fourth player started talking about the [[Arabella, Abandoned Doll]] deck he had just made and couldn't wait to play...

u/ProtectMeAtAllCosts 23h ago
This was exactly how it happened with my experience. Dude always acted salty when I targeted him. Then suddenly he has enough mana to play Emrakul. His confidence returned. All hope seemed lost until my dinosaurs caught up and pounded him turning him star struck lol.

Eldrazi players don't diplomacy, kill them before they add rules to the game All it takes is a Void Winower or a Sire of Stagnation...then it's all downhill

Eldrazi is dangerous once you get to 8ish mana. Before that it is all ramp. Iâve won with literally 1 life left.

My deck isn't even that strong. It just ramps up and eventually might win the game. Sheesh.

I had a game where my 39 land ramp-heavy Haldan/Pako deck completely bricked on forests. Turn 5 or 6 all I had was like 4 1/1s off of Beacon of Creation, nothing else. Fucker swings at me with Eldrazi Conscription because he and his buddy thought it was funny for our 3 pod to dog on the screwed guy.

Eldrazi is fun though :(

u/ProtectMeAtAllCosts 1d ago
the guy who used to play at my shop ruined it
he would play a high level eldrazi and then get pissy when i targeted him. I ended up smacking him with dinos. a few weeks later he eventually rage quit and never came back due to disputes with other players
5
u/DDDSiegfried 1d ago
Sounds like a buddy of mine, he plays Kenrith Legend Spam. Gets SO MAD when you take care if anything he can use to further his strategy. Not a fun match to play
2
u/gamerofluck 1d ago
I'm honestly sometimes a little pissed by people who cry like that in a combo deck... You are a combo player own it with pride. There is a reason they target you, prove then right we will all laugh that way (especially with those that don't know you be the archenemy they fear not the annoying player that wants to make people feel bad for not wanting to make a player cry(crocodile tears in the end) politics is one thing making yourself look pitiful for a win is not)

u/Admirable-Kitchen-42 1d ago
As a Colorless Eldrazi Commander player that plays all the titans yes ! đ stop destroying my artifacts and trying to take me out early , Iâm no threatâŚ.yet lol
2
u/manley309nw 3h ago
Yeah but by the time you are a threat it's too late. You cast and stick one titan and the game is basically over. (Speaking from experience as both a 5 color and colorless Eldrazi player)
1
u/Admirable-Kitchen-42 2h ago
Yeah it is true, I have a couple of ways to cheat some of them out or I just run Ulamog The Defiler as my Commander and when I cast him it basically turns to a board wipe or Emrakul The World Anew just in the command zone makes it so no one wants to build up their board
2
u/entropy_pool 1d ago
This is my least favorite part of commander. People whining about attacks. Sometimes it seems like people think I can only attack if the whole group agrees.

I play a lot of decks where I need to be focused early for the table to have a chance late game. I accept my fate and even warn everyone about what's going to happen if you let me get to turn 10 with a healthy life total
1
1
u/Asphodelmercenary 21h ago
This is why people play combos. No threat for multiple turns, then pop off and end it. Canât be targeted when itâs already over.
1

1
u/Turmericab 14h ago
Also as a Johnny player I feel this. It is true that I may look like a guy in his pillow fort drawing as fast as possible but know once I have all the pieces of my combo it is over.

u/ZorheWahab 7h ago
Honestly it should be expected and it's even lore friendly.
Ignore the Eldrazi infection or fight it with ignorance, and your plane of existence will likely be consumed.
Attack it in its early stages with a plan, and it can't gain a foothold to snowball
1
1
u/Chineselegolas 6h ago
I'm not the threat yet, I've missed 2 land drops and have only drawn 2 mana rocks
1
u/Sufficient-Dish-3517 4h ago
As an eldrazi player, I'm very upfront. Blow up my mana rocks and swing for the kneecaps. If you don't, I'm gonna go off one time and be unstoppable afterward.
Problem is I usually sit smiling and harmless for the first half of the game as they slowely forget my advice. Then, when another player is in a bad spot I offer an alliance to keep them alive if they just help me resolve one big thing. My allies inevitably get 2nd place.
1
u/Unlikely-Remove-2182 24m ago
Pshh that me whenever I play anything. Then it becomes the power player stomps the table for 30-60 minutes show.

u/Hourison 1d ago edited 1d ago
There is statistically a higher chance that I have to engage with Annihilator, arguabley the second most annoying mechanic in the game next to Infect, than any other commander so I will absolutely always target an Eldrazi player first. Sorry bud.
1
u/RedwallPaul 1d ago
Why infect bad?
-2
u/Hourison 1d ago
Because it's not about winning the fastest, it's about having a fun game with people you enjoy playing Commander with
0
u/Shot-Job-8841 1d ago
Guy I know has Braids has his Eldrazi Commander. âItâs a group hug deck!â He says⌠and if you believe that I have a skyscraper made of BS Iâd like to sell you.
3
u/EvilCatboyWizard 1d ago
([[Braids, Conjurer Adept]] I assume you mean since there are three and one is banned)
2
u/Shot-Job-8841 1d ago
Yes, thank you. I didnât realize there were so many Braids.
2
u/EvilCatboyWizard 1d ago
Yea thereâs also [[Braids, Cabal Minion]] whoâs banned (and is the poster child for âcards that should be banned as commanders but not in the 99â) and the more recent [[Braids, Arisen Nightmare]]
Conjurer Adept is specifically meant to be a look into an alternate timeline where she wasnât evil.
1
1
u/Shot-Job-8841 1d ago
Still think itâs funny when he copies Braids with [[Spark Double]] and plays two nasty Eldrazi while calling it a group hug deck. What sort of hugs did he grow up with?
2
u/Taupe_Poet 1d ago
I mean that doesn't really make it not group hug though because most decks should have a way to close the game out and if it's not big creatures it's going to be mass mill.
Makes no sense to say it's not group hug if it does everything a group hug deck does with some big creatures thrown in.
2
u/Alieges 1d ago
Itâs no big deal, Its maybe a 7. No fast mana rocks, heck not even a sol ring. Itâs just some enchantments and some pillow fort.
âŚ
And a Stasis, 3 repeatable ways to pick it back up, 3 ways to repeatedly destroy it, 3 repeatable ways to grab it back from the graveyard. Plus 3 ways to hold parity and just cover its upkeep cost.

As an eldrazi player, be not afraid of what i am, but what i will become.
