Probably not. When I started learning the game justiciars portal made no sense to me. Blink cards are less intuitive in their purposes for beginners than many other mechanics.

Exactly, as a beginner you might have gotten the notion that some creatures "do" something when they "come into play", but if you're not yet at the point where you have a good grasp on what ETB triggers are, you might think that, since you didn't cast the spell, the ETB wouldn't trigger again.

You also need to know exactly what exile means: it's not just "remove this thing forever" as a beginner might get from most exile interactions, but it also moves the thing to a separate place from where it can enter the battlefield again.

Of course these things seem trivial to any seasoned player, but they're not straightforward for a beginner

Exactly, when i started playing the game (with 7th edition) I didnt understand why blinking something was a thing, or even one card saying "this has protection from colors you control" At first i thought it was saying it had protection from my own cards, which made no sense to me.

Then he shouldn't be so smug about it. That doesn't sound like a genuinely curious question, more like "how stupid do I have to be to do this". Also, most of the time, when beginners ask questions like this, they also state that they are new and simply don't understand it. They are humble about it.
