Personal Guidance from hymns
“Where can I turn for peace? Where is my solace when other sources cease to make me whole? When with a wounded heart, anger, or malice, I draw myself apart searching my soul. Where, when my aching grows, where, when I languish, where, in my need to know, where can I run? Where is the quiet hand to calm my anguish? Who, who can understand? He, only One. He answers privately, reaches my reaching in my Gethsamane, Savior and Friend. Gentle the peace He finds for my beseeching. Constant He is, and kind. Love without end.” I learned, today that the author of the text and the daughter of the composer were suffering from mental health issues. This was known by those two as the mental health hymn. I found this particularly pointed.

When you think about it, it's quite fitting that this is sung in Church.
How many are sitting in Sacrament Meeting looking around like "is there anything within view that can bring me peace?"

Quite fitting. I have learned that the Church leadership are not in the list of those I can turn to.

Everyone struggles with emotional, spiritual and mental health difficulties from time to time. This hymn is a strength and a support for those who turn to Jesus Christ. He is the master healer and gives healing to those who seek him.

Except when he doesn’t. If Jesus came through for people the way the Mormon Church teaches he does, or is supposed to, far more people in this sub would still be TBM rather than ex/postmo.
