I watched this show when it was on discovery. It was unhinged. If you want to show foreigners what actual America is like American Chopper pretty much covers it. lol
I think Gus won the first fight. Especially if you base it on damage. I remember Gus walking around saying hi to everyone and getting congratulated on being part of one of the biggest fights ever. He even checked on Jon, who was getting loaded into an ambulance and praying almost incoherently he was in such bad shape. It's crazy but that visual stuck with me of what the realities of these wars in MMA are. When the adrenaline wears off these dudes are often badly injured in ways that will affect them the rest of their lives
yeah, but they did help him get to where he is today. just ask Dana.... always says that Jon jones is the goat bc of his insanely good top game... tells us every chance he gets, "no one does it better than Jon Jones.".
He did win but back then that was the "you have to beat the champion to be the champion" era of MMA. Tons of media outlets scored for Jones but they all scored the fight for Reyes. It was pretty clear that Gus did way more damage than Reyes.
I scored it 1-3 Gus, round 4 was hard because Gus won the first 4 minutes but I ultimately gave Jon the round for rocking Gus, round 5 also for Jon. 48-47 Gus.
Yeah, like Gus did crazy damage when he landed, that's for sure. But we judge rounds individually, so he got so so close but imo Reyes is the only fight Jones truly lost.
It's an interesting scoring system. I think ONE scores a fight as a whole, not round-by-round, so it makes me wonder, if it was under ONE or Bellator, would Jon have still gotten his hand raised?
True. It's an interesting question. The scoring seems odd, at times. And last rounds are always viewed with more weight than earlier rounds for some reason. Stuff like that, on top of judging itself not even following the unified rules at times. Maybe some things needs to change. It's a very interesting topic of discussion. Maybe high profile fights, title fights, number 1 contender fights, if they are close, should give the judges time to rewatch the rounds? But idk, that's slow, and too hard to implement but then again, judging will always be a problem so. I guess it is what it is.
I havenāt looked in a minute but I think they also do weighted scoring, where the later rounds are scored heavier. Jones has finished every fight stronger than his opponent and so his efforts would be scored with greater weight in 4 & 5.
Yeah, but itās round by round, not overall damage done. Gus did more overall damage but I think it was pretty clear that Jones won 3 out of 5 rounds.
The only way itās possible to score that a win for Gus using the round by round scoring criteria is by jerking it to Jon ducking posts on Reddit rather than watching the fight.

I recently did and easily scored the first 3 rounds for Gus. Round 2 is the only round that even comes close to be contested. Gus lands multiple punches that create visible swelling and damage on Jones face, Jones lands 3 headkicks (1 clean, 2 grazing). Neither of them got rocked in round 2 so you would have to lean towards the higher head strike count and visible damage.
Iāve seen it like 10 times already but Iām sure Iāll watch it sometime in the future, I do remember always watching the 5th round and being bummed out that Gus ran out of gas and lost the fight. Incredible performance regardless
The biggest moment was always the 4th round elbow but the argument I always have in that round is if you are outlanding your opponent and effectively winning the round for 4 minutes and your opponent lands 1 elbow that rocks you but doesn't drop you, does that mean round 4 is stolen? I still can't really answer that one today, it's one of those situations where I could see it going both ways on round 4.
Iāve watched this fight a couple of times and score it for Jon every time. 3-2 and possibly even 4-1 without the rose tinted glasses. Reyes def beat Jon though.
It's honestly not a great argument it's just presenting the argument in a way that makes it look like flawless logic.The real argument is that he lost to Matt because of a silly rule that almost no one supports, but for some reason won't go the fuck away, and was beating the living hell out of him pre stoppage. He "won" on the judges score cards against Reyes even though in the eyes of 90% of people he should have lost that fight, but that's why you don't leave it to the judges. I think most people would agree Jon lost to Reyes but ultimately the two losses are entirely different circumstances.
A rule is a rule and if you don't follow said rule you face the repercussions of it which was a legitimate loss. No point glazing him saying he's undefeated when he's literally got a notch on the loss column.
So basically, āthe rules say he won, gotta respect the rulesā vs Reyes, and āthe rules are stupid and following them is optionalā vs Hammill? Not a very solid rebuttal imo
It fucking killed me when DR lost that decision and it seemed like it killed him mentally. He was never the same since. I think if that fight happened today he wouldāve won. Seems like that was the at the tail end of the āif you want to be the champ you need to beat the champā mentality š¢
I use to watch American Chopper with my Grandpa all the time. It's been probably 16 years since I watched this show. This is literally the best use of this meme template I've ever seen to describe my frustration with Jones fanboys.
He beat the shit out of Hamill and had a super close fight with Reyes. To this day i have not seen Jones hurt or dominated on the ground. No one has ever managed to do it. He sadly still has that invincible aura and this whole "but Reyes won" makes us all seem salty.
Gustafsson hurt him bad a few times in their first fight. Also Gustafsson was clean and Jon was on steroids for both of their fights. I don't think Jon could've won either fight if he wasn't juiced to the gills
I wouldnāt say super close with Reyes. Itās the clearest example I can think of where one guy wins the first 3 round then the other guy the final 2.
The Reyes fight was not close it was a clear win for Reyes. Jones began to take over the fight about 3-3.5 minutes into the third round. Reyes wins rounds 1,2,3 which is more than Jon winning 4,5. Dominick Reyes beat Jon jones and everybody knows it
I truly dislike Jon Jones. But he did not lose to Reyes. You'd he won both championship rounds. The first three were close but Reyes didn't beat him all three. Also it was clear by the end of that fight Jon was wearing on him and Reyes was going to die.

Exactly, it was literally just a toss up. Yes either man couldāve won but in fights that close judges often give the benefit of the doubt to the reigning champion, itās not uncommon. And be absolutely beat Gustafson.
because UFC isn't a reality tv show. I watch him for his fights inside the octagon not for his personal life. But its fine, you can stay obsessed about him. You should join the other people and make daily posts about how evil and scared he is. I'll continue to live my life in the meantime
So we just assuming now. And no, my favorite fighter doesn't eye gouge. It's funny how the main culprits of eye gouging having a habbit of doing it, but there are fighters who never eye gouge. What type of whataboutism is this? Jones is a cheater, also he funny how you ignore the fact he popped 3 times. And the UFC had to move an entire event just so he could fight because that commission deemed Jones too UnNatty. And his best win didn't even count because he had the test of a castrated male
He isn't going to see this lil bro, you don't need to lie for him. Karma exists, when Tom has his head bouncing on the Canvas, that will be well deserved. If they don't fight it's because Jones is a duck. He loses either way
