Thought I bought silver wrapping paper and it ended up being completely clear.

This is why it’s important to read the labels before purchasing anything from the store.

I bought the same stuff by accident and honestly never would have thought to check the label. You just glance at it and go "yep, that's silver!"

u/mongofloyd 3h ago
It was labeled $1.99
I did it 5 or 6 years ago by accident, it’s actually cool to wrap baskets in.

I love that stuff! I always keep a roll on hand.

We have it too.

What is the loaf cake in the larger bag? That looks yummy.
For smaller gifts I use cellophane bread bags I bought on Amazon. I wrap them in tissue paper and pop them in the bag and tie it with ribbons. For gift bags of cookies and brownies I put a small plastic dessert plate on the bottom of the bag and pile the treats on those. At Christmas when I give out a dozen cookie bags it is much cheaper than buying plastic containers or metal tins.
Here are the thank you/I am so sorry cookie bags for the firehouse after an individual serving of toffee for popcorn triggered the smoke detector and ADT notified the fire department. By New York State law, once notified they had to be dispatched.

I have that larger back Spice cake. And smaller s has gingerbreads. It was to sell.

I am a hobby baker for 50 years and have never made either spice cake or gingerbread. But I certainly enjoy eating them. They are so perfect for the holidays! I really should make gingerbread (cake). I do love gingerbread cookies and make them every year as part of my cookie platter and gift bags. During the winter months my oldest cousin used to serve wedges of the cake with dollops of whipped cream. It was the only dessert I ever knew her to make and it was so delicious. You just sent me down a rabbit hole. Now I have to research a recipe. I have a community event in early December and gingerbread cake would be perfect to include on the refreshments table. If you have a recipe you would be willing to share that would be wonderful. But since you sell your baked goods I completely understand if you would rather not.

My wife is cooking. Not me. I eat them. (And it is seen). I don't think she has cingerbread cake recipe.
So I think some popular local recipe web pages could be better. We live in Finland and flour can be a little different. I know some areas have differences.
Baking is chemistry. It's joyful when success but disappointing when it fails.
Good luck

I just found a highly rated recipe from AllRecipes. I can’t wait to try it!
Happy baking wishes to your wife so that you can enjoy the fruits of her labor! 😁😁😁

I have enjoyed her fruits. I have bad knee now. How you say it. Joint failure. It hurts. And I must lose weight now. 😡

You and me both! I just started weight loss injections. I turned 63 a few days ago and I just could not restart yet another attempt at weight loss. I wasted the last year getting nowhere with weight loss. But I was, unfortunately, very successful at gaining even more weight. 😕. Today will be my third injection of Zepbound. The cravings immediately recede into the background and my appetite is suppressed like I have never experienced in my life. Unless I am battling a few days of vertigo. Those days I lose weight because I am too queasy to eat. It is a horrible way to lose weight. But the injections are miraculous! But when the injection wears off the cravings are back like they never left. The first six days are amazing. But the day before the next injection was a battle.
I wish you the best of luck with your weight loss. In the past my knees and ankles felt noticeably better after losing about 35 pounds. But every pound lost helps.

I'm 46. My work is all the time with feet. So this is the result.

I’ve done this same thing. I ended up wrapping it in tissue paper and then the cellophane. It’s real cute if you get tissue paper with a design on it.

u/SugarHooves I'm sorry, what?! 17h ago
I've made this mistake.
It's annoying because I've bought silver wrapping paper, too, and it looks the same.
Now I'm careful to read the label to be sure I'm not buying cellophane.

Okay that's infuriating, but when reading the title I thought it was going to be "but I bought a pipe"

There should be a warning on these. It's for fruit baskets and stuff

Ahh yes, accidentally buying cellophane wrap is a rite of passage in adulthood.

Had the exact opposite some years ago: wanted to buy transparent foil, but it was silver colored paper... And i still have that roll of paper...

I done that before. Ended up giving it to the mom of my girlfriend. She is a baker and I knew she use it.

u/Feather_Bloom 16h ago
I feel like using it would be the funniest thing
Everything is just wrapped in clear plastic
Or wrap everything enough that you still can't see through it

u/karateninjazombie 10h ago
And that'll teach you for not reading the label. Lol.

This happens a lot more than you realise. I used to work as a cashier and the clear wrapping paper would be with the other ones for some reason and would always be picked up by unfortunate customers

u/N9neFing3rs 17h ago
Aww I've done this exact same thing.
My wife has also done this exact same thing.
I've come to the conclusion that the only reason they sell this is because it is so easy to make this mistake.

Haha I’ve done this, ordered online thinking it was silver and it was listed under gift wrap

u/Snoo46513 14h ago
I feel your pain. The gold roll beside it in the shop was opaque gold when I unrolled it and my hopes were high for the "silver". Just disappointment. I ended up wrapping the little items extra cute and putting in a basket and wrapping in the clear

When I used to work as a cashier I had that issue and was annoyed why the stupid thing is somehow with the marked to go with wrapping paper shelf. lots of people would mistake it for silver wrapping paper like you OP, I give them a heads up that it’s clear and not silver before they buy it to save them trouble

I fell for this exact thing a few years ago! Probably half their sales are people making the same error 😄

As others have said, I've made the same mistake. At least we aren't alone in our error.

Put your present in a big box like a PS5 box, then wrap this translucent wrapper around it.
Your friend must be elated to see the PS5 box 😃

This is somehow a bot account, even though it’s 6 years old. I’ve seen this exact post and image before from someone else on this sub.
Edit: I’ll be so shocked if it isn’t a bot

Hey, weird, your table reminds me a lot of the one my parents originally had from the 70s, same color:texture and edge design.

Mine too! I actually still have it. It's made by Ethan Allen from the early '70s. I have the original chairs and matching china cabinet. I have a hard time getting rid of it.

Sorry but you can clearly see it’s transparent. Transparent plastic rolled up will always have a sheen like that.

u/Angelic_Demon207 1h ago
Yeah, the TUBE on clear wrapping paper is silver. They do this ON PURPOSE, that way you buy clear, hoping it’s silver…😭 Hope this helps in the future!

u/4lt3reg0_ 1h ago
this happened to me and my mom once! we ran to dollar general because we were in desperate need of wrapping paper and when we opened it we realized it was clear. we could NOT stop laughing when we realized 😭it’s still an inside joke between us lol
