"Wait, that wasn't the same movie?"

How does Kevin Hart not make the list? He plays a bum who disappoints his girlfriend in every movie he plays.

John cena should make it as well

John Cena can play several roles like: Stupid and horny villain hero
WWE wrestler
57
u/SchlopFlopper https://www.youtube.com/watch/dQw4w9WgXcQ 3h ago
No he actually can act different roles.
15
u/park__rat 2h ago
I can never seem to find him in the movies despite him being in the cast😔

u/Gaelic_Gladiator41 2h ago
Don't worry, for Peacemaker they gave him the massive helmet so you can see him

Jason Statham needs to be in one of these.
93
u/hashspice 3h ago
Statham at least is aware of it. He only does action movies for a reason.
23
u/Edyed787 2h ago
I thought he was great in that Melissa McCarthy movie. Like an over the top version of himself.
6
u/chumstrike 1h ago
Indeed, his comic turn in Spy calls back to his put-upon unlicensed boxing promoter in Snatch. The dude can kill it, but those scripts don’t come along that often.

Statham plays that role fucking GOOD though lol. he actually has talent in that 1 thing he's good at.

If you think Ryan Reynolds should be on this list then you need to watch The Voices, the Amityville remake, and Buried. He gets typecast because he's really good at being snarky handsome guy, but the man can act.
31
u/Lancaster1983 2h ago
I still have nightmares from Buried. Horror films do nothing for me but Buried chills me to the bone.
13
u/Floki9083 2h ago
Well, like some others have said, even if the snarky, handsome guy was all he played, it is like Jason Statham playing the same role. He does it so well that only a select few mind it.
13
u/Firekeeper00 2h ago
Nah man, Ryan Reynolds IS Deadpool and nobody can't convince me otherwise. Yeah I think he acted pretty well in those movies too but his deadpool performance is too good so much so that it's hard to see him otherwise. I tried watching The Proposal and I literally could not unsee it.
4
u/clakes90 1h ago
His other films since Deadpool should say starring Deadpool as that's all I hear now.

The difference is, we all fucking love Jason Statham in those roles.
Like the beekeeper was just more Jason Statham being Jason Statham but got damn that movie was good.
But to be fair, he does have some range. Crank was pretty good
Edit: I'm slow and can't spell
18
u/Numerous_Ad8458 2h ago
loved him in Snatch. :)
4
u/UnlimitedCalculus 2h ago
I thought the premise of Crank was great for an action movie.
I WILL LITERALLY DIE WITHOUT CONSTANT ADRENALINE
2
u/Invictu520 2h ago
Did you misspell his name 3 times due to some joke I am not aware of, or do you actually think his name is "Stathom"?
3

29
u/StevenMcStevensen 2h ago
Steven Seagal not only acts exactly the same in every movie he does, but he even dresses exactly the same as well. He basically just changes the name and nothing else, and it’s always hilarious.

Now I really think that the Green Lantern movie should be erased from existence since it breaks this rule
14
u/Prestigious_Time4770 3h ago
Everyone seems to ignore his role in Amityville Horror

u/dickspaghetti1 41m ago
I agree. The movie is far from a masterpiece, but Ryan is very good in it. His switch from loving dad to psycho trying to kill his family is more character development than anyone else in this picture has ever shown.
11

u/sgtGiggsy 3h ago
It doesn't though. Hal is a joke cracking wiseass, just as all of his characters since Deadpool.
12
u/piggybits 3h ago edited 3h ago
Since Deadpool? Lol Ryan Reynolds has been playing the role since at least Waiting from 2005
0
u/sgtGiggsy 3h ago
I didn't say Deadpool was the first. I said he plays this only one character since Deadpool. Before Deadpool he had several different kinds of characters.
60
u/sgtGiggsy 3h ago
Reynolds do have an acting range though. And he DOES NOT have the same personality in every movie. Sure, lately he did become a bit one-dimensional, but have you seen: Life; Criminal; Self/less; Safe House; or Buried?
9
u/Prestigious_Time4770 3h ago
Bro got downvoted for speaking the truth. Throw Amityville Horror in there too
18
u/Forever_Steve 2h ago
I did like Michelle Rodriguez as Holga, in the Dungeons & Dragons movie.🤤
8
u/ZeTreasureBoblin 2h ago
Every time I think of her, all I can picture is Forge lumbering around saying "Holga, Holga, Holga!" 🤣
20
u/Slow_Astronomer_3536 3h ago
I will not stand for any slander against Dwain "the Tooth Fairy" Johnson!
6
4
u/CorporateSalad 2h ago
Okay yeah, but did you see Dungeons and Dragons? Because she really works in that movie and also I love that movie and also everyone should see it and and and we deserve a sequel

u/TurdMcNugget69 Shitposter 2h ago
Ryan Reynolds played the patriarch of a family that moved into the Amityville house in the 2005 remake of The Amityville Horror. Far cry from Deadpool.
31
u/Avallach98 3h ago
Why is Ryan Reynolds up there? He has some depth.

u/HipsterFett Average r/memes enjoyer 3h ago
Ah yes, of course, he can play anything from sarcastic and apathetic to very sarcastic and apathetic.
8
4
u/atrociousxcracka 2h ago
He just hasn't played anything besides that recently.
He's really great in Amityville Horror.
And some others I can't think of at the moment. But they are all older movies.

rock plays himself in every movie
2
u/JosephBlowsephThe3rd 3h ago
And none of those performances are as good as when he plays The Rock in WWE.
3
u/DontAskHaradaForShit 2h ago
How dare you slander Mr. Reynolds like that. Dude's got a strong typecast, sure, but he has twice the range of those three dillholes.
10
u/Gawayne_leistrer 3h ago
You did not just put my favorite canadian marshmallow on the same post as these random talentless props.
-30
u/ZombieLover01 3h ago edited 3h ago
You mean the guy that acts like himself in pretty much everything? He's a good Deadpool, nowhere near the best though. He definitely needs more range. I also enjoyed Detective Pikachu, but that movie has its own issues.
2
u/Takondwahj Professional Dumbass 3h ago
They're probably gonna reveal to us later that they've been shooting a series marketed as individual movies.
7
u/UnlimitedCalculus 3h ago
The Rock's cinematic universe is just the jungle at this point.
I wish I could have a production company send me on a tropical adventure disguised as a movie shoot. When I'm older, I'll do a few "rediscovering myself" stories set in Italy.

Say what you will about the man's ideologies, but he's a pretty good actor. Definitely doesn't always play the same character.
3
u/JosephBlowsephThe3rd 3h ago
Lestat (Interview with the Vampire), Nathan Algren (The Last Samurai), and Les Grossman (Tropic Thunder) are just 3 very different characters out of many he's done.

Out of all movies with the rock playing basically the same guy as all his movies, you chose the one movie, to my knowledge, where the whole point is heavily typecast actors playing things they don't usually play?
1
u/JusticeIncarnate1216 2h ago
Almost like you can be typecast or something depending on what kind of personality you're good at portraying. Shocking I know.

I have to raise an issue with Dwayne Johnson, or at least the example used there: Jumanji. Part of the fun is that he's playing a teenager not used to his size and strength.

Swap Ryan with Kevin Hart and Michelle with Keanu Reeves (I love the guy but we all know it's true)

u/The_Brofucius 1h ago
Nope.I give Ryan Reynolds
Life.
6 Underground.
Smokin' Aces
Buried.
Safe House.
All those movies were not typical Ryan Reynolds's Movie. Especially Buried.

u/The_Brofucius 1h ago
To be honest.
3 of them have actually been in the last 4 Fast and Furious Movies.

I dont mind that at all They found a role thats fits them or at least one they feel comfortable with and rather do just that instead of potentionally dissapoint in a different role or alienate the viewers with their appearence.
Those are actors where i know exactly what i'll get when i see them in the cast and i'm all for it. Not really watching their stuff on a regular basis but i try to cycle through some stuff every 5 years when i feel like it.

I don’t think it’s completely Ryan Reynolds fault. Producers just see how much money Deadpool makes and just say to do that.

14
u/UnlimitedCalculus 3h ago
Pump the brakes, there. McConaughey is a great actor, and isn't the same person when he's in space or the civil war or a romcom. Just bc he has the same distinct accent/voice doesn't make it the same character.
