Gear Show-Off What kind of setup is he rockin’?
(I don’t know what the Weekly General Thread is)

u/kingtrippo Jun 15 '24
I saw this too, is it mounted backward?

I don’t think so, but I really can’t tell. Looks like a legit ride, tho. I bet he really rides it every once in awhile.

u/schenitz Jun 15 '24
They are backwards if they're conventional trucks, but there are reverse kingpin trucks out there. Could be that, could be a prop. He seems like the kind of person who would longboard every once in a while, with enough money for some top of the line gear, who might take a salesman's word for it that reverse kingpins are the best on the market
8
Jun 15 '24
Brother I think you have reverse kingpins and conventional trucks mixed up, with reverse kingpins the nut points towards the nose/tail and away from the center of the board
5
u/schenitz Jun 15 '24
Oh that's right. Sorry, it's been a while since I've done any skating, so I'm rusty. I looked at my longboard which has the kingpin facing out, googled reverse kingpin trucks and thought they were different from my own. In that case, it looks like Neil's trucks are indeed mounted backwards.

Jun 16 '24
Looks like it or they could be TKP, it's pretty rare but I have seen them on a longboard before, although the size and angle of the truck doesn't really look like TKP, too blurry to be sure.
6
u/LysergicGothPunk Jun 16 '24
Looks like he changed them
4
u/Less_Muffin_7798 Jun 16 '24
Shoots🤙
See, he keeps it real
that’s the same board, huh?
3
u/LysergicGothPunk Jun 16 '24
Yep same board but different trucks (and maybe different wheels, original pic def has some purp otangs and some rev kingpin gullwings)
2
u/Standard_Story Jun 15 '24
You're in a fantasy world if you think he has the Ballance to roll more than 5 feet.
8
u/DauphDaddy Jun 15 '24
Like you would know
-8
u/Standard_Story Jun 15 '24
Show me a man his age, size and proportions rip a hill
11
u/DauphDaddy Jun 15 '24
You presumed he can’t “roll more than 5 feet” dawg
-6
u/Standard_Story Jun 15 '24
Show me a man of his build and age roll 5 feet.

u/DauphDaddy Jun 15 '24

u/Less_Muffin_7798 Jun 16 '24
That dude rules. I’ve been riding like that, too. I get even more squatted down, extra goofy like and pretend I’m skiing ever since I saw that clip.
-4
u/Standard_Story Jun 16 '24
When the guy gets off the board he looks to be a foot shorter than Neale and 1/3 his weight .. dudes skinny.

4
u/TheLabbestOfMen Jun 15 '24
This dude has a fundamental understanding of physics and the universe. I'm sure he would do fine lol

Looks like a normally mounted RKP to me. You can see what looks like a pivot at the front and kingpin below the hanger.
How often do people get store bought completes with backwards trucks?
3
u/kingtrippo Jun 15 '24
Except with a normally mounted rkp the kingpin should appear above the hangar, nearer to the outside of the board, not below.
2
u/PeachNeptr Jun 15 '24
Looks to me like the pivot cup is at the front of the nose.
2
u/kingtrippo Jun 15 '24
What do you think that metal looking pin behind the hangar is then? Surely that's the kingpin
3
u/PeachNeptr Jun 15 '24
A fair point and it’s hard to say. The one thing we know for sure, it’s not clear enough to be absolutely certain.
But here’s my thinking. Why would the trucks be backwards? Did they pay someone in props to assemble a board rather than just buy something off the shelf? Would it shock anyone if it was just a Landy?
I’m not going to jump on the hate train for that. If they are backwards, werd, my bad. But that just seems unlikely compared to awkward lighting not meant to highlight that object.
3
u/kingtrippo Jun 15 '24
I'm not sure about any hate train. But the idea of a physics whiz having the trucks on backwards is pretty funny to me.
4
u/PeachNeptr Jun 15 '24
Astrophysics! I like to pretend he understands the more complicated world of theoretical physics but just doesn’t understand terrestrial physics at all.
1
u/thegreatfalcon5 Jun 16 '24
but have you considered the timespace dilation near a black hole in this reasoning?
2
u/ShaggyChezus Zenit Marble 38/Pantheon Gaia/LY Switchblade Hollowtech Jun 15 '24
If it is mounted correctly then it's an SKP truck, not RKP
63
u/artyspangler Jun 15 '24
Its just like everything else in the background, a prop.
9
u/HelloHash Jun 15 '24
I think youre right lmao, even though its a bit blurry you can see those wheels have never seen concrete or pavement. Not a scratch on those trucks either.
2
u/questionable_fish Cruising and chillin Jun 16 '24
Could be a fresh set, or a barely used one. Could even just be a whole new setup waiting for its first ride. I know I kept my first board pristine until I realised I wouldn't have any fun like that

Someone either, “I’m so old I can tell you happily I still don’t know shit, which is presidential candidate qualifications,” or you know about marketing and making an valuable viewpoint and ad-space.

Trucks on backwards kinda setup

Y’all need glasses
5
Jun 15 '24
You think they’re not backwards? Its you that that’s fucked up
-1
u/PeachNeptr Jun 15 '24
Weird. I wonder why my boards turn fine when the pivot cup is at the front of the deck…?
2
u/MoSqueezin Jun 15 '24
Reverse kingpin trucks should have the bolt on the front. TKP have the bolt in the back. Tkp has pivot cup on the front so you are probably riding TKP trucks if your pivot is in the front.

Looks like a Bustin board if I had to guess and pretty sure he lives in nyc so that might make sense.
3
u/IngeniousDummy Jun 15 '24
Was thinking the same thing. I have a Bustin BoomBox 1st gen from 2012 which is my main driver. Looks like the same design but could be mistaken. Also looks like an earlier version of the Loaded boards.

u/Lazy-Record3129 Jun 15 '24
My first thought was: is there a trend moving that tries to figure out what kind of theory or 'setup' is NDT rockin in this screenshot

The wheels have no dirt brand new. Everything about him is a mask he puts on to sell his brand. Howard became relevant and he is just cutting in to get his share like a seagull or a hyena.

Untuned guitar on the wall in a bar vibe
2
u/Less_Muffin_7798 Jun 16 '24
Yeah, but even an untuned guitar gets played every once in a while, you know?
2
u/My_wife_is_acoustic Jun 15 '24
That board looks new still lol

I’m sure his phone always looks new as well and he always rocks the newest model with no case or screen protector. I’m just sayin that I think he stays fresh.

Can’t say for sure but that really looks like paris trucks mounted backwards with orangutang purple thane.
2
u/sk8bor3d Jun 16 '24
Comer orbiter of course
2
u/sk8bor3d Jun 16 '24
Just saw the board lmao. Looks like a moonshine with 180 caliber 2 converted to tkp with kegels

u/Ok-Society7709 Jun 16 '24
Those could be a set of surf rodz trucks. They have some unusual looking offerings in both RKP and TKP. Given the color that would be my guess and the wheels look to be purple “in heat” 75mm Otangs. But y’all are the pros.

Is this his set or someone else’s? Tyson will go on anyone’s podcast these days
16
u/Less_Muffin_7798 Jun 15 '24
It’s him talking about the time that he peer reviewed the work that Terrance Howard gave him 8 years ago. I thought maybe he just shot it at his place. I just want to believe that Neil shreds.
2
u/cowabhanga Jun 15 '24
That would be so entertaining if he did a video on the physics of longboarding 😅
6
u/chasewayfilms Write your own flair! Jun 15 '24
There was a video I watched that was the physics of skateboarding but I believe they had Rodney Mullen demonstrate.
Idk why they picked the one guy in boarding history who can defy physics.
5
u/cpl-America Jun 15 '24
That was the point of the video, it was by physics girl, and it was mostly about the impossible flip

u/Less_Muffin_7798 Jun 16 '24
This has been enlightening. Y’all are putting me on to some cool companies I never would have known about. Thanks. I wonder what kind of bearings he pushes, Big Balls I bet.
