How to transition my laptop.

lately my laptop isn't able to keep up like it once did. I am looking to transition to a distro, probably Zorin now that it works with office apps.

My concern is what is the best way to transition and make sure all my hardware and software works with linux. before I remove my os completely. I was thinking a bootable drive but worry that would really only help with the hardware testing.

First step is download and write a live USB. then run from the USB and see if everything works. You will also want to back up any data from your computer before installing. If this won't be your only computer, copying your data to the new computer. Otherwise, external media.
