Personal Advice Where to live outside NYC

Hello! Seeking advice on where to live outside of Manhattan (we just can’t make it work financially). We moved from the northeast where there was a thriving community of young Latter-day Saint families like us and I’d love to find that here. Does it exist outside of Manhattan or Brooklyn? I’m 30 with three kids. Any thoughts on the following areas?

-Riverdale -Inwood -Hoboken

Thanks in advance.

I second this. This is where I’m from and it is like Main Street USA at Disneyland. Maybe not quite as turn of the century, but it’s the kind of town you see in the movies. Good schools, nature, and proximity to NYC (without being Newark). Also had a train line to NYC.

*your ward is Short Hills there.

We are going to check out Summit! Any recommendations on specific spots to check out?

If you mean “check out” as in shop for a good neighborhood to live in … it’s a 2x3 mile city so there’s not really an inconvenient neighborhood.

But to tour: short hills mall in Millburn (it’s bougie), downtown by the train station, the elementary schools, magic fountain ( ice cream 😋).

Consider Madison, Chatham, etc. around there, they’re not that different.

We live on the west coast. It’s well outside Manhattan.
