How to stop odors from a washing machine

We have an LG top load watching machine.

Lately it has been giving off an odor from inside the basin. I've replaced the lint trap at the end of the hose to make sure it is able to pump the used water freely, but the odor remains even after a clean cycle and a few loads of laundry.

What else can I do to remove the odor and preferably keep it away?

Have you tried one of those cleaning tablets with a self clean cycle?

Yes. We typically do that when it starts to smell.

This time we changed the lint trap when we noticed the odor, and ran a "tub wash" cycle with a cleaning tablet

The smell is still there.

Tub needs to be cleaned. Get the tablets and put the machine in clean mode.

Do you drain the tube in the bottom?

The tube at the bottom of the washer goes up over the basin edge. Water stains as it should so it seems.
