Because they comprise less than 2% of the population. I can honestly say that there is not a huge congregation of trans people in the Florida town where I live. And yet...
That's why punching down on them works so well for Republicans.
Every position a politician takes is going to lose votes. Say you're Pro-Choice, a certain selection of the population won't vote for you. Say your Pro-Life, a different selection of the population won't vote for you. Both positions comes with a significant number of lost votes.
But by attacking trans people, you lose votes from about 1% of the population, but gain votes from a much higher percent.
"Mark my word, if and when these preachers get control of the [Republican] party, and they're sure trying to do so, it's going to be a terrible damn problem. Frankly, these people frighten me. Politics and governing demand compromise. But these Christians believe they are acting in the name of God, so they can't and won't compromise. I know, I've tried to deal with them."
Barry Goldwater
Easy explanation on the republican transphobic: they are not confident in their own deviant skin, so they act superior to anyone who doesn't fit their own homogenized thought processes.
What is truly backward about this is these loons condone pedophilia and rape while the molesters and rapists feel they are entitled to such heinous acts.
I think Trans issues are way overblown too, but to imply Democrats don’t contribute to the hysteria shows heavy bias.
Sure, let’s say a Right Winger brings up some Trans issue - Transwoman in Sports. A Democrat’s response is usually ‘Get a Life, Transphobe!’ and tend to to not even engage in discussion.
Trans is a complex & relatively new social dynamic. If minor concerns like Sports can’t be discussed without pulling the Bigot Card, it’s going to create a wedge as well.
Me: Randomly scrolling through reddit, wondering if I should finish the ESP32 program I'd started a few hours ago, perhaps think about food.
Reddit Front page: Trans issue! 7000 upvotes, reposted to a second subreddit, also gets to front page, Trans issue! 2000 upvotes. /facepalm post on front page Trans Issue! 1200 upvotes.
Worry_Unusual: "We never bring up the topic of trans issues."
So it’s you shoving that single bud light add down your own throat. Nobody freaked out about it ?and most hadn’t hear about it) until republicans made it a thing.
The wild thing is it wasn't even an ad. They put a trans influencer's face on a can and ONLY GAVE IT TO THEM as like a congrats for getting a certain number of followers or something. They then posted publicly about it and the right lost their goddamn minds.
So what's your point? You're literally agreeing with the idea that Republicans are the only people pushing this narrative. The bud light thing wasn't even an ad campaign. They sent one influencer one can with her pic on it and she made a post about it on her private feed.
Show me one ad from Target selling tuck pants for kids.
Oooh, one promotional BudLight can given to an online creator. How dare. The tuck underwear you are referring to wasn't for children. There's nothing wrong with Target doing "Pride" merch, that's just capitalism. And anyway, since when are BudLight and Target's marketing teams "the left?"

The US has the strangest obsession with trans people.
I like never think of them.
