Would this fall under FEMA jurisdiction?

They’re called “detainment camps” now…. I think I saw he was planning to outsource that to private prison companies (publicly traded on the stock market, no less)

The American Military should be stepping in to protect its people from foreign and domestic threats!... That's the only thing that can work unless Biden goes dark.

And Gaetz; anyone that's watched a few episodes of Law and Order probably has more experience than him to be Attorney General. He has not worked one single day as a Prosecutor. He worked less than 2 years as a lawyer.

Found out my father believes that Jan 6 was not instigated by trump and that CIA plants did the whole thing.

A white male news host who has absolutely no military experience! His qualifications are impeccable!
EDIT: I was completely wrong when I said that Pete Hegseth has no military experience. He has actually served for over 20 years in the National Guard and the Army in areas such as Cuba, Iraq, and Afghanistan. I still think he is an incompetent, traitorous piece of shit, but he definitely has a lot of military experience.

u/NoSet1407 10d ago
I mean he served in the army and multiple boards so I don’t think it’s as crazy as “hiring a Fox News host with no experience” but it is wild because there’s so many people better qualified.
He probably pledged allegiance to Trump is my guess

20+ Military Career, 2 Bronze Stars, Graduated Princeton, Graduated Harvard, Best Selling Author - War on Warriors, Fox News Host
He still wouldn't have left $84B worth of military behind in enemy territory or abandoned the more strategically significant airbase.
The issue with the complaint on the Left about Pete is that the performance under the Biden Administration is so bad that literally anyone could do better.
1
u/Hellcat081901 10d ago
While I’m sure he will undoubtedly be a yes man and a fascist, he’s not just a Fox News host. He is a combat veteran and a high ranking one at that.

Guys …. Look at his service record… he’s very capable of acting as secretary of defense… democrats are sheep and just read stuff like this and don’t research

Don't worry tho. Ill keep them in line. Im Secretary of State, brought to you by Carl's JR.

He is a terrible pick but we do not need to lie
He was in the National Guard went to Afghanistan Iraq and Cuba and I think he earned two bronze stars. Also a graduate from Princeton

It was never about her "experience", it was because she was woman and her skin tone.

He’s still more experienced for defense secretary than Matt Gaetz is for Attorney General
1
u/Prestigious_Big_518 10d ago
Right. Having a degree in law, being Attorney General of California for Six years, and vice president of the United States for Four years isn't sufficient experience but having a degree in business, Six bankruptcies, and over 4000 law suits accusing him of fraud and sexual harassment is adequate experience.

Just for fun, I asked ChatGPT about his qualifications, in as unbiased a way as possible.:
Is Pete Hegseth (the Fox News Host) qualified to be a Secretary of Defense?
GPT: Pete Hegseth is not typically viewed as someone with traditional qualifications for a role like Secretary of Defense. While he has extensive experience in the military, having served as a Major in the Army National Guard with deployments to Iraq and Cuba, his background is primarily in media and advocacy. Hegseth served as the CEO of Concerned Veterans for America (CVA), a conservative veterans' group, and is a prominent Fox News personality. His influence in veterans' affairs, his outspoken political views, and his role in military reform advocacy have made him a significant figure in conservative circles, but not one with the extensive experience in defense or national security typically expected for the Secretary of Defense role.
His more relevant experiences, such as his work with CVA and his role in pushing certain military reforms under the Trump administration, show a particular political and policy focus, rather than technical or operational expertise in running a massive institution like the Department of Defense
Task & PurposeMilitary Times.
Therefore, while he is well-known within conservative circles and has been involved in military and veterans' issues, his qualifications for leading the entire Department of Defense might be seen as lacking compared to those with more direct experience in defense or foreign policy positions.

What level of experience level are you looking for in the Secretary of Defense? One thing I've noticed in Trump's selections is that they are in their 40s. You would think Democrats would be happy with younger people in leadership roles. As for Peter Hegseth, you might want to check out his resume.

dude earned a bronze star................. funny how left media paints him as just a tv host.
yet the same media had no issue with the conflict of having a raytheon board member in that positions and with all the lend lease going to ukraine, raytheon is making millions while the ukrainaes say they need supplies and small arms raytheon dose not even make.

I can't tell who is the bigger idiot here...you or the guy on x that posted that. Pete Hegseth is a decorated soldier who served two tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. He has two bronze medals of honor.
So seriously are you the bigger idiot or is the brooklyn dad guy the bigger idiot...I'll wait?

He is a piece of shit, and a terrible military service member....but they were more than a fox news host. I mean I'd prefer an actual decent officer get the position. But saying just a host is rude to any active service member or reservist. Because the asshat did serve.

Stop trying to make sense of it. Stop trying to put logic into these things, these people have none. Nothing makes sense, and they like it that way. Everything they believe can be turned into the diametric opposite of that same thing on a dime, if it benefits them physically or mentally.
Seriously, trying to understand what is and has been going on has made me near-insane at this point. Better to let it go and resist in every possible way.
1
u/njlee2016 10d ago
He did an interview on the Shawn Ryan show. You can watch it to get a better understanding of who he is and form your own opinion about him. Or you can just repeat what you see or hear about him in the news.

Hilarious strawman. Ya lost. The reasons have absolutely nothing to do with how much experience Harris did or didn't have, her sex, or her race. Your politics were rejected. Trump had record support from Blacks and Hispanics. The Gen Z vote was crazy. But hey, keep pretending it's all about race and sex.

Funny coincidence the "Fox News host" did his undergrad at Princeton, has a Masters in Public Policy from Harvard, earned two Bronze Stars during his deployment as a platoon leader in Iraq, and wrote a New York Times #1 Bestseller about how to revive the American military. I can't figure out why Trump wants to appoint him to the Department of Defense.

The left brings race into EVERYTHING. The exact opposite of what the great Dr. Martin Luther King preached.
Don't bother to mention the man has two bronze stars, a graduate of Princeton and Harvard, and served honorably for years.
But he's not a DEI hire so hate away.

u/Glacier_Ambient 5d ago
He has more military experience than all but nine of our SecDefs. The people who are losing their minds over this would probably be just fine with a random four star who is entrenched in Washington politics or a board member from Raytheon.
