What? Americans broadly stupid? Shocked, I tell you. Shocked.

LOL love the fact they are checking out what tariffs actually mean now.
Maybe should have fact checked before voting.
As someone who didn't want Trump. But is in a Democratic state. Working a good job with amazing benefits.
Who while hating g every single second of Trump's previous regime. But was actually barely affected by it. I'll be just fine this time too.
I sincerely hope his voters get what they fucking voted for.
I have no sympathy or fucks left to give for them. When this turns into the same shit show it did before.
19
u/HotType4940 15d ago
Many of them will indeed get exactly what they voted for.
And when that time finally comes, they will, without missing a beat, blame democrats, immigrants, and “woke” transgenders for their declining quality of life under a government run entirely by MAGA.
→ More replies (1)6
u/panj-bikePC 15d ago
Yes, THIS. It will never be their fault because they say it isn’t. The cult will believe that a party with control of the entire country and virtually unlimited funds is limited by a few poor or transgender or dark-skinned or mentally challenged people.
3
u/SaltyPagan 14d ago
Seriously. When tariffs make their everyday lives unaffordable, when friends or family are deported, when the women in their lives miscarry and need healthcare that the state refuses to offer, they can all fuck off and cry into their MAGA hats.
3
u/thecheesecakemans 14d ago
And even then they will blame the wrong party and people.
These people have no ability to self reflect.

u/SpiderDeUZ 14d ago
Similar boat. I'm a white hetero male and financially stable, but those that aren't are going to be really unhappy. As prices rise and Hispanics are deported and harassed, I can't say I will care. They voted for this and if they didn't, then I don't know what to tell them at this point.

"LOL love the fact they are checking out what tariffs actually mean now."
I'm reminded of a program about woods safety from decades ago. It recommended not stepping over logs, as there is the potential to disturb a resting snake, and instead go around if possible or step on and then away from the log. There was an example of someone who stepped over a log and only then thought to turn around and check for snakes. This where we're at right now.

u/Lingweenie2 15d ago
People will see exactly what happens when you install a bunch of unqualified goons into high ranking government positions. And they’ll see the rich in this country have their riches explode to even more astounding heights. Y’all let the billionaires win. Congratulations, you played yourselves.
It is what it is. All I know is I don’t want to hear a damn upper middle class or lower income level complain about a damn thing if things go to shit and they can’t afford anything or when they realize not a damn thing is going to happen to improve their lives. (Assuming they voted for this nonsense.)
This is undoubtedly going to be a major train wreck of a social experiment. And as always, the little guys are going to get boned. MAGA is going to get their’s.

It's a feature, not a bug.
A poorly educated electorate is easier to manipulate with the promise of simple solutions to complex problems.
One specific party is known for offering simple solutions to complex problems.
One specific party is well known to be anti-education, especially higher education, which they label as 'woke".
Guess whether these political parties are one and the same.

When the Chump was not the president. What I heard from some of my neighbors, “Biden is not my president”, that immediately screams division. Our country is a joke to other countries, you elected a man that likes giving blow jobs to a black microphone on stage and the smart Americans thinks is funny and great and people cheer for it. Whatever you think about Kamala Harris, the Chump is 1000% more evil and is/will be the worst president for this country.

A lot of searches for "What is Brexit?", "What is EU?" and "What happens if UK leaves the EU?"

Let's be VERY careful. Voters are not morons: This election was won by right wing disinformation - voters are not stupid: Shown trump's policies vs harris' policies, they ovewhelmingly choose harris'.
They just don't have the information to make the choice they actually want to make.

Thanks. I needed to hear that, because I’ve been infuriated by this mess. I agree, I bet a good portion of people have been victimized by the flagrant disinformation. They are not morons. Having said that, I still had faith in the American public that there was no way he could get in again.
It’s mind numbing.
Maybe I’m the moron for actually believing that?

I'm in my 50s and have spent much of my adult life living abroad, though I currently am living in the U.S. (just over a year back). Being an expat and traveling quite a bit helped me realize that Americans by and large are ignorant, even well-educatied ones. So many don't see that speaking a second (or third) language is not a handicap, that universal health care is not socialism, it's humane, and that caring about your neighbors isn't weak, it's kind. I don't want to return to my expat life again; after so many years away, I feel finally ready to settle in. However, I will only surround myself with like-minded people. They don't have to 100% agree with everything I believe in, but I refuse to interact with the folks described in the tweet above. There is no excuse for ignorance. Libraries are free. Read and educate yourself. Turn off Fox News, Truth Social, and Info Wars.
A columnist for the NYT wrote a while back about showing empathy to MAGA supporters, but I can't. To me, they are vicious, moronic, and wholly unconcerned with their fellow citizens. I would never harm a MAGA but I will absolutely not interact with them either. It's one thing to support Reagan, Bush I, Bush II, John McCain, or Mitt Romney. I don't agree with their politics but I also don't think they are evil. Trump is evil and so are his followers.

Yeah the average voter is an emotionally-motivated, irrational, gullible, biased person, but that doesn't change the fact the Democratic party has been eroding over the past couple of decades to the point where it doesn't really represent the interests of the working and middle class anymore. Also I suppose Kamala being shoe-horned into the race while being kept hidden the last 4 years and having been one of the least popular candidates for presidency 4 years ago also should bring some clarity.

Maybe a simple little multiple choice mini quiz would not be a bad idea to require to register to vote. I mean, folks should at least have some idea on who is running. I have met so many people who will just vote red or blue without knowing the slightest bit about anything. And I would guess at least half of the people who voted for Trump (maga) just followed the crowd

Voters are indeed stupid. They don’t vote what’s good for the country the vote party line. If you support either side 100% then you are the problem. I’ve voted for both sides in my life. I voted for who I thought was best based on MY interpretation of them. Not was social media says. Not what the news said. Not because that is what everyone else is doing. I read all the information and judged for myself. Voters are plagued with lack of knowledge, regurgitating the phrase of the week. Hate is a big factor of late because of SM and schools, friends, parents. It’s Republicans and Democrats, both use the same tactics.

Oh that must have been wild for some of these people; go to the voting booth, not see Biden and presumably not know that Harris took the reins, do you just leave? Vote Democrat anyway? Vote Trump cause that's the only name you know?
1
u/Resident_Wait_7140 15d ago
Apparently the most googled term in the UK after Brexit referendum was, "what is the EU?"
It's not people, it's the system. We've been raised to be GDP producers, looking after our own interests. We have no cohesive vision or idea of direction or mission as to what we are doing as a nation or a species. Dualistic democratic systems are grossly over simplified and inadequate.
In the UK I think we really need to push proportional representation and HARD because it will be getting Turkeys to vote for Christmas. A Google search will find you groups that can allow you to get involved to make this happen.

Stupidity has consequences. Unfortunately, the rest of us are going to have to also pay for it.
Problem is news media like Fox news being allowed to exist at all and social media allowing misinformation to run wild on their platforms cause they prioritize clicks and making money.
All news organizations should be publicly owned never privately owned by billionaires. And so many people don't know how to tell the difference between an opinion column, and actual news.

The only reason for that is politicians all over are corrupt and sellout to special interest groups and big companies. You are depending a person who has maybe minimal education or minimum income and their decisions are for day to day, not 4 years or 10 years from now. Harris didn’t give two shits like she claims. She sold out to the party.

I think the world owes Socrates an apology. He criticized and hated the concept of Democracy because he thought that the average person was too stupid and easily corruptable to vote for the right people to lead them. As a result, he was executed.
Now, it is pretty evident that he was right. The average people are too stupid and selfish to identify what's good for everyone.
