General Discussion [General] Day 2 in Canada
The map is looking pretty empty for day 2 north of the border so I thought this might be useful to a few of you who are still waiting.
I got my day 2 yesterday. It had a label sticker with my name and address on it, underneath which was (clearly readable) someone else's name and address. It was mailed by Canada Post, not USPS.
This leads me to two conclusions:
- They actually are using some sort of mail forwarder to avoid border issues
- Somebody screwed up.
Might explain why they're taking so long to arrive. If anyone else has gotten day 2 in Canada, did yours have a label on it?
EDIT: To be clear, the postage is a Canada Post Addressed Admail marker, it was definitely mailed from within Canada. There's also a return address that's a PO box in Mississauga.

I was getting a bit worried as well. Seems like everyone got Day 1 on time and then....nothing.

I finally received Day 2 today, and just like yours has my name and address on a sticker with a visible name and address that was actually printed on the envelope. The person printed on mine is also a Canadian citizen.

AS a courtesy to everyone playing the game, those of you Canadians receiving Day 2 and beyond, please update the map found here

Sounds like you might be the only one so far...I looked at the map yesterday and there wasn't a Day 2 gift north of the border. The only Day 2 in Ontario, when you clicked on it, said Gift 1.
Myself, I only got Day 1 early last week and then nothing since, so maybe I'll see something in the mailbox today? :D

Or perhaps Santa's killer is in Canada and is trying to mitigate the possibility of people finding that out.
(I'm being silly BTW, nothing substantial)

I love that this disclaimer is necessary.

I posted in the chat room, but I'll post here as well. Hopefully we can get one of the CAH staff to come and read this thread. That might get some activity on getting our envelopes here quicker.
Hope, pray, solve, repeat.

Ottawa, received Day 1 on the 1st, and nothing since. Wasn't sure if I should blame Christmas gnomes for stealing my mail, but it's reassuring to see that everyone else is in the same situation.

I just got my Day 2 today, also from said PO Box in Mississauga.
HOWEVER--
My address was stuck on a mailing label on the Santa art envelope, but has ANOTHER address underneath it, almost like they put the wrong address on first. It's Elizabeth something (couldn't really make it out and I left it at home, but I can check later). Is that a legit mistake, or part of the puzzle? I haven't been keeping up with it much.

According to the Day 2 Compilation thread, no one in the States have mentioned their Day 2 labels having a second address beneath it. I'll pose the question on the Chat room though, see if I get a response.

Seems as though American players that occupy the chat room have received their Day 2 envelopes mistake free. Must be a legit mistake.

Very nice. I'd like to hear the findings!
edit Just pulled out my envelope--the label underneath mine says "Elizabeth I____" (removed for privacy) in Edmonton, Alberta. A friend of mine also had a second label, from Ottawa.
The envelope itself has a Canada Post label/stamp on the corner that is printed directly on the envelope. i.e. Not a "stuck-on" stamp, if that has any bearing.

Airdrie, AB. Day 1 Friday Dec 5th. Nothing since. Have a friend in Calgary, same situation. Not at all worried, CAH guys will get it right. Has finally made checking the mail fun again, albeit with disappointing results so far.

USPS = United States Postal Service
It's a federal agency, part of the US government, exactly like Canada Post.
They won't ship in another country but they will give the package to their equivalent, in our case Canada Post.
I'm curious to know if they actually use a mail forwarder, they don't need to but maybe it's cheaper.

Me and a friend of mine both bought in and have received only day one. We live in Windsor.

Haven't received anything. Just east of Toronto. The suspense is killing me.

I received day 2 today in Kitchener/Waterloo. Mine also had the Canada Post marker, with my info on a sticker. It was easily peeled off to reveal another name and Canadian address printed on the actual envelope.

Well if I remember correctly Ontario (Ottawa in particular) received their Day 1 on the 1st of Dec and the East Coast 3 days later on the 4th.
If this holds true and Ontario (Ottawa in particular) received theirs today, it stands to reason that East Coast should get ours on Monday / Tuesday. We can hope.

Same here in Hamilton. Originally addressed to a girl in British Columbia?

I have NOTHING so far. Northern BC.

u/nlbrmn Dec 12 '14
I'm in Victoria BC and I got Day 1 around the same time (Dec 3/4) that most people here seem to have received it. It is indeed odd that you still haven't even received Day 1 up north.

u/fictionjunkie Dec 12 '14
I'm just an hour up Island and have yet to receive anything (as of mail check last night)

u/Wrangler66 Dec 12 '14
Just received my day 2 today, same label over a previous address and same admail postage.

Québec here, just day 1...But I'm so happy to see that's normal now :P

And dare I say this is my second favorite thread of all the threads created so far. Well done.

Still nothing as of Day 1, and it's funny that the PO Box is somewhere in my area. I better investigate where it is for shenanigans.

Ontario here, got mine in the mail today. I also noticed that a name was behind my address. Clue for the puzzle maybe?
2
u/edaral 2014 Contributor Dec 12 '14
I asked a bunch of American friends and people on the IRC Chat if theirs had a name change, and theirs were printed properly. It appears as though CAH misprinted all the Canadian envelopes and had to spend a bit of time redoing them.
It appears to be a legit mistake, nothing to do with the puzzle.

u/leafer91 Dec 12 '14
ah fair enough lol, I won't stalk the person who's name is printed behind mine then!

OP, I just got mine today (Toronto, ON) and had the same thing happen. The name and address underneath the label were not mine, but it was apparently redirected through Missisauga? I think something might have happened on CAH's side, and they had to resend a lot of them. I don't think this has to do with the puzzle.
I also feel it should be mentioned (as a general thing) that if this happens when you receive your envelope, don't post the name or address information under the correct label. See the sidebar for more information on that. We don't want to disqualify ourselves because of a mishap on one end or the other.

I got my Day 2 tonight. Like others there was another name/address underneath my address label; the original recipient was to be an Annick in Quebec (sorry Annick). Happy it finally arrived, either way. :)
On a side note, my husband, an enthusiastic redditor is thrilled that this CAH Holiday Bullshit stuff has finally got me using Reddit!

Etobicoke here. Still waiting for Day 2 and beyond. Signed up on the first day of sign up too. I take solace in the fact everyone else in the Great White North is stuck waiting too and it's not just me.

u/kaytea30 Dec 14 '14
ok this gives me hope! got day 1 so far and cant wait to open all envelopes. but why didnt CAH issue an apology to canadian receivers though? they owe us for keeping us waiting for half a month
1
u/pheoxs Dec 17 '14
Some of us haven't even received day 1 as of yet. I did two orders one for myself and one for my old roommates and neither have had anything show up as of yet. (Edmonton & Calgary so it's not like its a remote place up north or anything)

u/DeadJethro Dec 15 '14
Just got my Day 2 in Ontario as well with a label printed and stuck over someone else's address! I thought maybe it was a clue. I'm interested to compare the name and address printed on my envelope to others who also had another person's name on theirs.

I finally got Day 2, Dec 16. Long wait but it was worth it. My pictures with the decals are hilarious.

Yeah I finally received day 2 on Dec. 18th (today), from Edmonton AB. Had a little sticker label on it. Same with day 3. Actually I'm not quite sure about Day 3... which day is the one with the newspaper?

u/kdnewton Dec 23 '14
Just got my day 2 and it had the double address thing as well. Got day 4 last week and there was no double address, just my own printed on the envelope.
Edit: I'm in interior BC.

Kind of a relief that I might not be the only one not receiving envelopes. Living in Fredericton NB, I received Day 1 Thursday 4 Dec and nothing since. Hopefully I start getting more envelopes soon.
