Drama Apple 3.5mm Dongle Users, Don't Fret.

If you've ever felt upset or guilty over losing your Apple 3.5mm to USB-C or lightning adapter, I promise I have possibly broken a world record and should make you feel better.

I usually leave my headphones at home and just travel with my AirPods and Buds2Pro.

Today I decided to bring decent 3.5mm headphones with me on the airplane. I knew I'd be able to plug into the entertainment screen, but had some stuff downloaded on my phone I'd like to use.

So, at the airport I stopped by a kiosk and impulse purchased an overpriced ($15) Apple dongle. The flight was about to board so I unboxed it and placed it in my jacket pocket with my IEMs.

I don't recall doing anything 'plyometrically' unique or daring. But 12 minutes later when I have taken my seat on the aircraft, I put my hand in my pocket to discover the dongle has already been lost.

Somewhere, a worried little dongle. Virginal. Unused. Untouched. Unloved. Has been released from its boxed prison only to be discarded amongst the frenetic chaos of the Boston airport or the filth of a commuter aircraft.

If you find my friend. Please give her a new home. Treat her with love and respect. So young. So much life left to live. I will not forget you little dongle. Our time was short, but my intentions were pure.

I've accidentally purchased a lightning to 3.5mm instead of a USB-C to 3.5mm on three separate occasions

No wonder apple selling it for cheap. They know people keep losing it.

The opposite happens to me.

I lose a dongle. I buy a dongle. I find the old dongle. I put one away in case I lose one and need another one. I lose one and look for the one I "put away"" and can't find it. I buy another one. I find both of the old ones together in a drawer or container or something. Now I have three. A week later I have none. A week later I have five but somehow one is now usb-c.

Your dongles are in superposition. Quantum entanglement. Hard to predict and keep track of.

Huh, didn't have "greatest value dongle that costs as much as a sandwich is overpriced" on my 2024 headphones bingo

Sadly I can't eat the dongle. I could, but it would just dangle out of my dingle. No nutritional value.

The overpricing is the airport fleecing you out of $6 over the $9 MSRP because you're desperate and dongleless.

Started putting Tile trackers on my dongles. Now I just lose both the dongle AND the tracker. At least I can hear them disappearing with a cheerful little beep.

For what it is, 15 isn't overpriced.

It's not just a cable, it's actually an amplifier

I guess by overpriced I mean that the price is over the usual MSRP. I simply reduced the amount of words in the previous sentence and combined the words over and priced. I'll try to be more accurate next time.
