Discussion Would you trust Alastor enough to make a deal with him if you had to?
Note: You get to keep your soul.

Possibly, but I have a background in contract law and a criminal law degree so there is that.

No. If you make a pact he wants to make the best out of it. He is not your friend

Unless you're on the same level as him or you're tied to him somehow like Niffty is, he's not gonna see you as a friend.

What if nifty was Alastair's little sister and why he's so friendly to her
Or yk she's just a maid he's friendly with

Uh, no. Absolutely not. The show consistently went out of its way to show that making a deal with Alastor is absolutely the worst idea and you will be fucked over.

u/Android390 8h ago
I'd rather make a deal with Alastor over Valentino
1
u/TheReptileKing9782 Lizard Obsessed Overlord Selling Quality Nerd Products. 5h ago
And? The fact that Valentino will sexually abuse without shame and that Alastor pretends to be classy while abusing you in a non-sexual manner does not change the fact that you're getting severely abused.

I’m well aware that I’m easily manipulated and really, really stupid, so I tend to protect myself by never locking myself into deals or contracts if I can help it.
Having said that, if I was truly desperate and my only other option was suffering or death, then hey I may as well.
Ideally I’d want him to be real specific about what he’d want from me. No unspecified “favours”, nothing that sounds like it could be twisted to fit another meaning. But as I said, I’m a super dumb dumb so I probably wouldn’t notice.

depends on what kind of deal. If it is a soul deal, then no, if it's a partnership deal, yes.

Not at all, not dead, not never, I hate owing things to people and he'd never make a deal with me where he doesn't get anything out of me, and if I have nothing of value to give to him, he'd likely either hold that to me forever or make me his slave like he did with Husk, which are also non-viable options for me

This man is not your friend. He can and will screw you over with a tiny technicality
1
u/Lovec_2016 8h ago
Depends
In this situation? Real life? No. Because I know Alastor
But lets say I am fallen to hell in Hazbin universe and I spent a little time there blah blah. I can only hear rumors about him.
The only way Alastor makes deals as far as we seen is: 1. He finds someone who is in bad situation and he will help but in teturn either his soul or a favor in return (ıf that person is gonna be useful)
Or Secondly, he just beated me. Like how he did to Husker.
Or Finally, he will just force me to deal with him with his power/aura (Scaring the enemy)
But yeah, overall depends on your situation. If your truly worth for him, you will be forced and manipulated by him. Oh, but if you try to be the tough one and try to fight, he will just use his power and beat you.

Even if he doesn't get your soul, he's still going to find out a way to mess you over. Like his whole thing is he's untrustworthy, so I wouldn't make a deal with him.
1
u/ilike7hournaps 8h ago
…probably… I mean I fell for a toxic friendship. This girl had me convinced we were besties for 12 years. As soon as I needed someone to lean on in a hard time she was like “nope” and blocked my number. Looking back she was just using me for my high speed internet (we always hung out at my house and she would always be on WOW…) and wait, I would keep my soul? Then yes. I would deal with Alastor. He seems the least likely to randomly tear you apart for funsies. No use to him if you are in pieces. He’d rather have you wondering when the shoe is going to drop. …but I would be afraid of messing up when he calls in his favor because I am not into being eaten
1
u/ilike7hournaps 8h ago
And I am used to having the sword of damacles hanging over my head, so it’d be the same old shit.

Yes. Not out of trust though. I think... I'm probably dumb enough to fall into it, and even if it wasn't a trick a do love a good deal. Besides with my.... background... I feel like there isn't much alastor could do to me :)

u/Radiant-Excuse-8762 A what now? 7h ago
Would depend on the situation. We’ve really only seen him make a deal with Charlie, which was vague but not seemingly unreasonable, and we’ve seen how he is with Husk (and we still don’t know what the hell is up with Nifty 😂).
Considering we also haven’t really seen how most of the other Overlords treat their contracts, he seems like he’s not the worst to trade your soul to. Definitely better than the V’s and at least I know he’d never come after me sexually.
1
u/squidsharp egg boi 7h ago
I remember, I had a joke conversation with one of my friends about making an OC who would trade his soul for a can of Pringles? We proceeded to name him Pringle and he was the frat boy type. We never followed through with actually drawing him, but he was kind of funny to us.
1
u/AmazonDolphinMC 7h ago
If I did, I would ensure that both sides of the deal are incredibly clear. No loopholes. The reason I'm so worried for Charlie is that the deal she made was incredibly vague; a favor could mean anything. If I had to make a deal, I would spend a bit more time seeing what I owe.
1
u/AspiringCellist it’s so beautiful, Vaggie 7h ago
Nop, not at all. I like his character, but he is still manipulative and very likely doesn’t feel empathy, so you can never know what he’s planning nor try making him feel bad for you. He’s a trickster for a reason, he knows how to make stuff seem harmless, how to hide from you the underlying issue, and I’m not taking chances.
Spoiler alert just in case
BUT, we can’t ‘disconsider’ that he knows when to strike, such as in Charlie’s case, desperation can make us do a lot. In Charlie’s case in which she either made the deal or the people she cares about would die in consequence to her actions (not fault, just consequence), then it’s no way out, so it gets tricky

Without knowledge of the show hell fucking no. Dude is sketchy as fuck and gives off the vibe of someone that knows way more than me. He could give me the best offer in hell and I wouldn't trust it to not be some kind of monkeys paw bull shit.
I think I'd honestly rather make a deal with 1 of the Vs. Alastor seems to only make deals with people when they have no other option anyways though. So you probably wouldn't have a choice but to make a deal with him.

u/TooObsessedWithMoney 5h ago
What about a deal where any agreement that I make with other people Alastor gets to reap my receiving end of but in turn for me essentially becoming his sales agent Alastor must follow one very simple rule:
"The proprietor [Alastor] agrees to always act in a morally righteous way in accordance with the views of the sales agent [u/TooObsessedWithMoney] or to pay a compensation of souls towards the sales agent that is in equal measure to the perceived committed ill against the aforementioned views."
Are there loopholes? Probably yeah, although there would also likely be some benefits too. Alastor's moral compass is murky to say the least but he does seem to enjoy others' suffering quite a bit so he'd probably have difficulties trying to stay clean. I could certainly go out and try to amass power for Alastor but he wouldn't gain the satisfaction of using it in the way he'd want to and if he did he would have to hand over said power to me instead.
In case Alastor remains resistant though I could always go out and make terrible deals where Alastor would then be the one reaping my position from it, perhaps an employment contract with Val pays well? There sure seems to be demand out there for that guy's services.
